Lady Gaga, Kylie Minogue strike out in ARIA awards

SYDNEY: Global superstars Lady Gaga and Kylie Minogue both struck out at Australia’s ARIA awards, with the top prize for international artist going to an English folk rock band.
Mumford & Sons picked up the Most Popular International Artist award on Sunday, the final night of the Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards, since 1987 an annual series of awards celebrating the Australian music industry.
The Album of the Year Award went to Angus and Julia Stone, a brother and sister duo from Sydney, for “Down the Way,” beating such artists as Birds of Tokyo for their eponymous album and Sia for “We Are Born.” The pair also took several other awards including Best Group.
Birds of Tokyo took Best Rock Album and Clare Bowditch won best female artist with “Modern Day Addiction,” beating Minogue and her latest album, “Aphrodite.” AGENCIES

21 Annual Billboard Latin Music Conference and Awards took place yesterday at Conrad Condado Plaza Hotel. 2010 Billboard Bash featured performances from some of this year’s finalists, including Larry Hernandez, Flex, Diana Reyes and Carolina La O.
According billboard.biz was Universal Music Latin Entertainment (UMLE) and its wholly owned labels, Universal Music Latino, Machete, and Disa, who were the big winners. The awards honor writers, publishers, producers or labels of the year in Latin music.
UMLE managed to take home the Top Latin Albums Label of the Year Award, while the pop imprint of Universal Music Latino took home the award for Hot Latin Songs Label of the Year. UMLE’s Mexican publishers Disa won the Regional Mexican Airplay Label of the Year.
The only categories that were torn away from UMLE last night was the tropical music category. It was bought by Sony Music Latin, which not only won the Tropical Airplay Label of the Year Award, but also Tropical Album Label of The Year Award.

Muse And Kasabian Honored At NME Music Awards

The annual NME music awards took place London. The award of “Best British Band” went to Muse while Kasabian picked up an award for best album.
Many famous personalities were present during the ceremony. Amongst the newcomers, La Roux received Best Dancefloor filler for hit single ‘In for the Kill’.
Scottish band Biffy Clyro also didn’t walk away empty-handed, picking up an award for best video for ‘ The Captain’. The Mighty Boosh won the best comedy award.
