Egypt turmoil: 5,000 inmates flee prison amid riots

About 5,000 Egyptian prisoners broke out of a prison in the Fayyoum Govenorate amid the nationwide riots on Saturday night, reports said.
Earlier on Saturday night, a building of Egypt’s ruling National Democratic Party in downtown Cairo was set on fire for the second time. Protesters marched towards the Tahrir square in downtown Cairo carrying dead bodies on Saturday night after the curfew was clamped at 4 pm. Leaders from the US, UK, France and Germany have urged Egypt’s President Hosni Mubarak to avoid violence and enact reforms as protests continue. Vigilante groups in Cairo have set up checkpoints amid reports of widespread looting. Streets are on the brink of anarchy. Mr Mubarak has appointed a vice-president as he struggles to regain control after five days of protests. It is now believed at least 100 people have died since Tuesday. US President Barack Obama met national security officials on Saturday to discuss the situation in Egypt. Meanwhile, talking to trendpk.com.Com, Pakistan’s ambassador to Egypt Seema Naqvi said that all the Pakistani residing over there are safe.
She, however, deplored Egypt’s security situation.
China set for Asian Games extravaganza

BEIJING: China’s booming southern metropolis of Guangzhou is gearing up for next month’s Asian Games — the biggest sporting extravaganza the nation has seen since the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
After seven years of preparations, the city at the heart of China’s economic miracle has reinvented itself for the November 12-27 spectacle and is hoping the event will help transform it into one of Asia’s elite cities.
The country’s state media is stirring up excitement with regular updates on Team China, a day-by-day countdown on China Central Television and coverage of the nationwide Asiad torch relay.
Organisers are hoping that a successful Asiad — the world’s second-largest sporting event after the Olympics — will pave the way for an eventual Summer Games bid.

A Disney secretary and her Prince Charming tried to hawk inside information to the highest bidder with letters to hedge funds outlining the Mickey Mouse scheme, the feds said.
Bonnie Hoxie and boyfriend Yonni Sebbag were busted on Wednesday and hit with criminal and civil charges.
Manhattan prosecutors say Hoxie had access to confidential financial documents from her job as secretary to Disney powerhouse Zenia Mucha.
She was hoping that by selling out her employer, she would be able to buy a $700 Stella McCartney purse, court documents show.
The pair hatched their plan two months before Disney was set to unveil its second-quarter financials, sending amateurish emails to hedge funds, officials say.
“Hi, I have access to DISNEY’S (DIS) quarterly earnings report before its release on 5/3/10,” they wrote.
“I am willing to share this information for a fee that we can determine later. I am sorry but I can’t disclose my identity for confidentiality reasons but we can correspond by email if you would like to discuss it
“I count on your discretion as you can count on mine.”
Some of the recipients tipped off FBI agents, who posed as crooked traders and told Hoxie and Sebbag they were interested.
A flurry of compromising emails ensued, as undercover agents tried to suss out exactly what the schemers were offering.
Sebbag, writing under an alias, boasted he knew that “[Disney President] Bob Iger is in serious and advanced negotiations with two private equity firms to sell them the ABC network but no price has been determined yet,” according to court documents.
“How do I know that you are not a fed?” asked the agent posing as a trader.
“I work for Disney, that is all i can tell you,” was the response. “I don’t think we will get caught if we stay discret and careful.”
The FBI taped an April 9 phone conversation with Sebbag in which he promised to cough up inside information four days before Disney publicly released its quarterly earning report.

TALLADEGA, Ala. — NASCAR canceled all Saturday track activity at Talladega Superspeedway because of threats of extended periods of severe weather.
Track officials said the decision was made on advice from the Talladega County Emergency Management Agency and the National Weather Service, which said Talladega County was one of the areas in Alabama facing a high risk of severe thunderstorms and tornadoes on Saturday.
“Fans are strongly encouraged to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety, especially those guests camping on speedway property,” track officials said.
The Nationwide Series race scheduled for Saturday will now be held Sunday following the Sprint Cup Series race. It’s the second consecutive weekend that NASCAR will attempt a doubleheader.
Rain last weekend in Texas washed out both Cup and Nationwide events, and they were run back-to-back on Monday. Drivers who competed in both series totaled 801 miles of racing.
There are 10 drivers scheduled to run both of Sunday’s races, which are scheduled to total 811.30 miles barring any additional “overtime” laps.
Qualifying for Talladega’s Cup race was canceled, and the field for Sunday’s race will be set by owner points. Four-time defending champion Jimmie Johnson will lead Matt Kenseth and Greg Biffle to the green flag.

Glotzbach walked gingerly away from the wreck. Pearson had to be cut from his car.
