PM Gilani for Effective Anti-terror laws

trendpk: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Friday called for an effective legislation against terrorism.
During an address to the National Assembly, Gilani lamented that the prevailing anti- terrorism laws are not effective for those held under it are easily bailed out and restart their nefarious acts.
Islam is a religion of peace and does not allow violence; its a wrong notion being attached to Islam, the PM asserted. He called upon the politicians to abstain from mudslinging and urged the media to act responsibly.

India working to dry up river Chenab as well
India is planning to construct Swal Kot Dam. After the construction of the dam river Chenab would also dry up like Ravi. Swal Kot Dam is expected to be higher than Tarbela and Mangla.
The height of the Swal Kot Dam is 646 feet and the storage capacity of Swal Kot Dam is expected to be 13 times higher than the disputed Baglihar Dam. In comparison the height of Tarbela is 485 feet while Mangla is 453 feet high. The project would cost $2 billion dollars and would produce 1200 MW of electricity. Swal Kot Dam is being constructed on river Chenab near the district Doda and Udham Pur which is just 70miles away from Pakistan. The design of the dam has been prepared by a Norwegian company.
River Chenab would be completely dried up if the construction of the project would go ahead. Experts believe that if the construction is not stopped then the Pakistani economy specially the Agriculture sector would be completely destroyed.

Karachi receives light showers
KARACHI: Weather in Karachi turned pleasant after the city received light showers early Monday morning. The Met Office has predicted that the weather will remain pleasant on Monday; however, heavy rain is not expected in the city and the weather will return to its normal state tomorrow (Tuesday).

Altaf offers olive branch to Asfandyar Wali
Karachi, Pakistan :- MQM and ANP leadership has agreed to launch concerted efforts to establish peace in Karachi.
MQM Chief Altaf Hussain assured ANP supremo Asfandayra Wali Khan on phone of all-out support in this regard and condoled with him on the sad demise of Ajmal Khattak besides killings of ANP members and other Pashtuns in the metropolis. Commending Ajmal Khattak for his principled stance, Altaf said that he was a true follower of Bacha Khan, adding that his death has deprived the nation of a sincere leader. Altaf told Wali that he has ordered the core committee of his party to reform its ties with other political parties including ANP. On the occasion, Wali observed that all the outstanding issues between the political parties be resolved through talks to foil the nefarious attempts of the anti-state elements, who wanted to disrupt peace in the country. Wali maintained that a single reconciliatory sign from the MQM would be reciprocated properly. Altaf also expressed condolence to Ajmal Khattak’s son Aimal Khattak on the sad demise of his father.

Ex-mill sugar price at Rs45/kg, Pakistan
Lahore, Punjab Pakistan :- Provincial Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs, Rana Sannaullah Khan has said that people of Pakistan are thankful to the leadership of Pakistan Muslim League-N for fixing the ex-mill price of sugar at Rs. 45 per kg and appreciate its efforts in this regard.
In a statement here today, the Minister said that on the orders of Chief Minister Punjab, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, the historical crackdown launched against profiteers and hoarders has foiled the nefarious designs of profit mafia. He said that if the leadership of Muslim League-N does not decide to foil the nefarious designs of these hoarders with effective action and full force, these hoarders would have been charging the prices of sugar from the people at their will.
Rana Sanaullah Khan said that the present sugar crisis has differentiated the friends and foes of the people and it has proved that which political party realizes the problem of the poor people and which people deceive the masses for gaining their interests and do not hesitate to set aside peoples’ interests. He said that we are thankful to Prime Minister of Pakistan for approving the ex-mill prices of sugar proposed by Pakistan Muslim League-N and issued orders for fixing these prices for all provinces.
