Akshay Oberoi invites cousin Vivek to see his film

Setting aside all talk of a cold war with cousin, Vivek Oberoi, newcomer Akshay Oberoi who makes his debut this week in the Rajshris’ Isi Life Mein has invited Vivek to watch his film. Vivek has promised his cousin he will make time very shortly.
Says the newcomer, “There is absolutely no stress with Vivek. I don’t know where these rumours came from. I don’t know why people are making it seem as if we’re at loggerheads.”
The truth is, Akshay Oberoi tried to downplay his family connection with Vivek because he didn’t want to seem like a clingy cousin desirous of cashing in on his more-famous family member’s name.
Says Akshay, “Vivek and I didn’t grow up together. Since I was studying acting and theatre in the US for several years and we weren’t connected constantly. So if we aren’t bumchums, we aren’t at war either. Why should we be? We are like any other family. I’m a huge fan of Vivek and will always wish him well. I hope he sees my film soon.”
Having said that, the pragmatic newcomer knows it is each on his own in the entertainment industry. “Vivek and I come from different families. We lead separate lives. He has his own career. And I will have my own now. We will always be there for one another. But we are not going to be posing for together photographs all the time to prove to the world that we belong to one family.”
Akshay’s namesake, the Kumar, also has a release, a much larger one this week. But the newbie is unperturbed.
Says the latest Oberoi on the block, “Isi Life Mein and Tees Maar Khan are two different films. We are a much smaller film. We’re hoping we’d also get some support. After all it is the holiday season.”

Mahesh Bhatt’s daughter Alia to be launched by Karan Johar and SRK

Only last week we informed you about Karan Johar and SRK launching two newcomers namely Varun Dhawan (son of David Dhawan) and Sidharth Malhotra in their next co-production.
Now the buzz is that besides the two debutant leading men, yet another newcomer is being launched in this project. The girl in question is Alia (younger daughter of Mahesh Bhatt and Soni Razdan) and in all probability she is the lucky one to have bagged this plum project.
The film is a love triangle with both the new boys vying for Alia’s attention.

Fiona Xie Boyfriend, Fiona Xie,The 27-year-old actress explained in an interview published on this weeks’s 8 Days magazine that she did not set out to avoid the media but was simply weary of the complications speaking to them would bring.
As for the “personal reasons” for rejecting the role, Xie said she could not find her character’s voice though she admits that she gave it up partly because of her Australian-American boyfriend.
According to the actress, her boyfriend did not like the script as it contained too many kissing scenes, so she turned it down.
“He wanted me to ask for amendments to the script so I have less kissing scenes. I know that is impossible but I don’t want him to be unhappy,” she explained.
Xie’s 23-year-old squeeze is an enigma. They first met on the set of Kelvin Tong’s supernatural thriller “Rule #1″ in 2007 and have been dating for a year, and he is reportedly an art enthusiast who lives like royalty in Hong Kong, but everything else about him remains a mystery.
The actress who has been dubbed one of MediaCorp’s Seven Princesses, was named Best Newcomer in her first year and was twice voted one of the top ten most popular actresses by viewers at the annual Star Awards.
Her decision to drop everything and base herself Hong Kong will force her to bid goodbye to her annual salary of about S$500,000. However, it will afford her greater control over her life and gives her the freedom to choose what projects she wants to do.
She said that while she is concerned that this loss of income might affect the livelihood of her mother and her younger brother, Dylan, who is sill studying, she is determined to get a fresh start in Hong Kong. The actress, who had recently embraced Christianity, has no regrets.
