Supreme Court Takes Notice: On Saturday, the Supreme Court of Pakistan, taking notice of government’s procrastination in removing the Director General of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). The Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered to set hearing of the case next week instead of March 15, 2011.
Earlier, it had been decided that the Supreme Court of Pakistan would hold the hearing of the case after March 15, according to the media sources.
Now the apex court will review next week the report presented by Secretary Establishment Division before the SC in connection with the DG FIA.
Diplomatic immunity law: notice issued to federal govt
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court issued the notice to the federal government over Diplomatic and Consular Privileges Act 1972, TrendPK.com reported.
A petition has been filed against the law. The CJ LHC Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry refused to summon former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi saying its too early to call him at the moment.
The petitioner Azhar Siddiqui pleaded that no law gives diplomats license to kill. Later, the court adjourned the hearing till 14th March.
Hockey not included in National Games

ISLAMABAD: Hockey is Pakistan’s national game but this time it has not been included in the National Games therefore the Sports Minister Eijaz Jakhrani has taken the notice and has asked the Pakistan Olympic Association to explain immediately.
The spokespersons of the Sports Minister said that Eijaz Jakhrani was not happy over the issue.
On the other hand, Asif Bajwa, the Secretary of Pakistan Hockey Federation, told Trend Pk that such attitude with the national game was pathetic.

Lalit Modi Got 10 Days Time From Passport Office

Lalit Modi, former chairman of IPL has got 10 days time from passport office to file his answer. Modi was issued with a notice to reply to the Enforcement Directorate otherwise his passport will be seized. His lawyers asked for some time to reply to the case and also take stance that the notice was issued early but was received by them on later dates so more time should be allotted to the.
Passport office has now given him 10 more days to reply the notice. Modi is out of India due to some threats to his life and his lawyer said that he will be back in India when he feels all right. Notice was issued on October 5 after he failed to appear to the ED to answer allegations of financial irregularities.
Modi has asked passport office to clarify few things including the date issue of notice. After failing to supply the documents required by former IPL chairman they have extended the date for him. Modi Lawyer Abdi said that Modi is Indian and he is not absconding and will be back on right time. ED has also issued blue corner alert for Modi earlier this month. Now he can be detained and by the international law-enforcement agencies wherever they found him and also inform ED.
PPP issues notice to Sherry Rehman for appearing in tv show
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has issued a show-cause notice to its leader Sherry Rehman for participating in a TV show whereas women members of PPP protested and raised slogans against the said decision outside Sherry Rehmans residence in Karachi. Sherry Rehman said that she did not know as to why the protest was held out outside her residence.
Talking to Dunya News, Ms. Sherry Rehman said that she did not know about the true identity of the protestors. She also doubted their affiliation with PPP. She said that she was defending her party in the show for which she has been issued the notice. She told Dunya News that the notice was issued from the office of the Chief Minister Sindh. She demanded that the government should keep an eye on such protestors as protested outside her residence.

PM Gilani took the notice of the condition of minor girl and promised her father that Shaista would be provide quality education by the government.
Aftar a month no official visited Shiasta’s home therefore her father lost hope after being promised by PM Gilani.
SAMAA on Sunday (today) aired the news of PM Gilani’s ignored promise and reminded him to fulfill his promise.
PM Gilani immediately took the notice and order Islamabad Chief Commissioner to visit Shaista’s home.
The Chief Commissioner met Shaista’s father and assured him that Shaista will be admitted in the school tomorrow (Monday). SAMAA

SC takes notice of police torture on lawyers

LAHORE: Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Saturday took suo motu notice of police torture on protesting lawyers in Lahore.
According to a statement issued by the Supreme Court, Chief Justice Chaudhry summoned Punjab’s Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, Inspector General of Police, DCO, RPO and CCPO before the Supreme Court on October 4, 2010.
Police baton-charged lawyers who were taking out a rally on Thursday.

MULTAN: The mob tortured police official in the home town of Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gialni after the death of a criminal in police custody, SAMAA reported Sunday.
Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif has taken the notice of the issue and ordered for the judicial inquiry.
Mumtazabad police apprehended Mohammad Akram for gambling last night. Mob told SAMAA that Akram died of police torture.
The relatives of Akram held demonstration outside the police station and blocked the road.

ECB demand PCB full apology for fixing allegations

SOUTHAMPTON: The England and Wales Cricket Board demanded on Thursday a ‘full and unreserved apology’ from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ijaz Butt for his allegations that England players had engaged in match-fixing.
“Mr Butt has been advised that if a satisfactory response is not received, legal proceedings will be commenced against him without further notice,” an ECB statement said.
The threat follows an interview given by Butt to a private television channel after England lost the third one-day international against Pakistan at the Oval last Friday.
Butt said there had been “loud and clear talk in bookies’ circles that some English players were paid enormous amounts of money to lose (Friday’s) match”.
