Fatima Jinnah’s 43rd death anniversary today

ISLAMABAD: The nation is commemorating the 43rd death anniversary of the Madar-e-Millat Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah today (Friday) with great respect and reverence.

Quran Khawani is being held at her grave located within the precincts of the mausoleum of her brother – Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, in Karachi. People drawn from different walks of life are visiting her grave to lay wreaths and offer Fateha.

Besides schools and colleges, various social and political organizations have planned various activities to mark the day in a befitting manner.

Fatima Jinnah (July 30, 1893 – July 9, 1967) was an active political figure in the movement for independence. She is commonly known as ‘Khatun-e Pakistan’ (Lady of Pakistan) and ‘Mader-e Millat’.

She played an important role in the Pakistan Movement and was the primary organizer of the All India Muslim Women Students Federation.

Fatima Jinnah actively participated in national politics after the creation of Pakistan and death of her brother. She continued to work for the welfare of people till she breathed her last.

Paying tributes to the great services rendered by Fatima Jinnah for women empowerment, Ms Tanzeela, an active social worker said that the sacrifices of prominent women leaders including Fatima Jinnah, Begum Liaqat Ali Khan in freedom movement were of great significance.

Fatima Jinnah was a role model not only for the Muslim women of South Asia, but also for those of whole Asia, she added.

Prominent political leaders like, Begum Rana Liaqat Ali, Nusrat Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto worked for the welfare of women in the country by following the footsteps of Madar-e-Millat, she added.

509a22cd0fegins Action to Reopen Cases Against NRO Beneficiaries BeginsPakistan News: Action to Reopen Cases Against NRO Beneficiaries Begins, The action to reopen cases against NRO beneficiaries has begun and an accountability court in Lahore issued notices to 32 people including Nusrat Bhutto, Jahangir Badar and Ahmad Mukhtar.
NAB in Karachi has submitted applications to initiate cases against Rehman Malik, Agha Saraj Durrani and Usman Farooqi and many others. NAB’s Punjab Prosecutor had submitted application for issuances of notices to 32 people including Jahangir Badar, Nusrat Bhutto, Malik Mushtaq Awan, Rana Nazir Ahmad, Mian Muhammad Rahisd, Tariq Anis, Mian Tariq Mahmood, Qazi Afzaal and Tehsildar Amjad Hussain in the accountability court. On NAB’s application, accountability court issued notices to these 32 people. The people who have been served on notices include 12 politicians and 20 bureaucrats. NAB has filed 52 applications with accountability court in Karachi to reopen cases against Rehman Malik, Agha Saraaj Durrani, Usman Farooqi and many others. The applications maintain that SC has ordered to reopen NAB cases. The court has summoned former provincial minister Habibullah Kundi in Peshawar for making assets of millions of rupees on the application of NAB. Sources told that NAB has also submitted an application with the SC to reopen cases against former interior minister Aftab Sherpao. In Quetta, accountability court issued notices to five people including former provincial minister revenue Marak Khan on the application of NAB.
Ahmad Mukhtar announces legal action for being stopped at airport
Federal Minister for Defense Ahmad Mukhtar has announced to move the court for being stopped at the Islamabad when he was due to leave on Chinese tour.
Mukhtar was stopped from leaving the country as his name was included among others in Exit Control List (ECL) after Supreme Court’s verdict against NRO on Thursday. Defence Minister along with 6 member delegation was leaving for an official visit to China where he was scheduled to attend commissioning ceremony of F-22 P Frigate. Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Noman Bashir is also part of the delegation. According to sources, when Ch. Ahmed Mukhtar along with Admiral Noman Bashir arrived at Islamabad airport, he was told by the immigration officials that he can’t be allowed to leave the country as his name is included in the ECL. Secretary Defence Syed Athar Ali was also present on the occasion.
