PAC orders return of extra govt cars
Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has asked the ministers, secretaries and other officials to return the extra cars being used by them, Dunya News reported on Wednesday.
The committee gave secretary information a dressing-down for not providing the list of cars being used by government servants. Chairman PAC said that no one except the PM could use more than one government car.
The committee ordered the Secretary info to get back the extra cars from the government servants within three days. On the other hand, FBR Chief Sohail Ahmed submitted the details of tax given by former president Pervez Musharraf to the Auditor General on the special directives of PAC.

BLANTYRE, Malawi: A strong earthquake has hit Malawi, and a government official says at least 3 people have been killed and nearly 300 injured.
The 6.0-magnitude quake struck the southeast African country at 1:19 a.m. Sunday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
Gasten Macheka, the commissioner of Karonga district, says it destroyed several buildings there, including schools. He says a dormitory at one government school fell on sleeping students, injuring scores of them.
Macheka says at least 270,000 people have been urged to leave their homes for their safety.
The Karonga district in northern Malawi has been hit by a series of earthquakes and aftershocks since the beginning of December.
Parts of Malawi that lie in the Great Rift Valley are prone to quakes.
