Karachi violence claims two lives, 9 injured, 2 mini-buses set ablaze

Unknown people set a mini-bus on fire near on Suparco Road near Met Office while another bus was set ablaze in Ayoub Goth area of Mubina Town.
Meanwhile, a youth was shot dead in Godhra Camp area of New Karachi. Dead body of a man was found from Mansoor Nagar area of Orangi Town.
In another incident, three people including Pak Navy’s Chief Peti Officer were injured in Dalmia area.
Moreover, three people were injured in firing in Momin area of Orangi Town, while two in Gulshan-e-Hadeed and one man was injured in in firing in Gulbahar.

KARACHI: A number of suspects have been taken under arrest amid a joint search operation carried out by police and rangers in separate areas of Orangi Town on late Saturday, TrendPK reported.
During the operation, all the entry and exit points of Orangi Town remained cordoned off under the security of police and rangers.
Sources said that area women staged protest against operation and arrests.
Law enforcement agencies’ sources said arrested suspects have been transferred to unknown location for interrogation.
Meanwhile, at least 10 women have been reportedly injured in firing from security forces and the subsequent stampede.

Operation in orangi town Karachi
Breaking News Karachi, trendpk :- A snap operation was conducted by The Law Enforcement Agencies in Orangi Town, Karachi. A private news channel reported to have detained at least 300 suspects today.
The whole area have cordoned off the by the Rangers. The Law Enforcement Agencies entered in Musqata Colony, Faqeer Colony and Umar Baloch Mohalla localities early in the morning at 07:30Am. The spokesman of the Rangers said that the police was not involved in the search operation. The suspects have been kept at six different locations.
The operation is going on in the area of UC Mominabad. House to House search operation is going on. The people were going to their jobs when suddenly operation was started. The Rangers also investing about the people who are not at their homes, from people, during search operation. Different people gave different opinions about the Orangi Town operation. According to police 300 suspects are arrested while local people said that more then 600 youngsters are arrested.
Orangi Town area is located northwestern part of Karachi and is suffering from the target killings tragedies from many years. On the other hand more then 40 people have lost their lives since last four days in target-killings.

SSP Tariq Dharijo said that Israr was apprehended red-handed and police also recovered weapon from his possession. Israr was also involved in bank robbery in SITE area on August 17.

2 more dengue patients die in Karachi

KARACHI: Two more dengue patients have died in Karachi on Saturday. The death toll climbs to 15 in Sindh.
Naila, 22, resident of Orangi Town was admitted in Jinnah Hospital while Noor Mohammad, 40, resident of Orangi Town was under treatment in Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
The Sindh Health Department has confirmed that 1,639 have been found positive with the virus while 2,974 people with dengue symptoms had been brought to the different hospitals of Sindh.
SAMAA learnt that 197 dengue patients are under treatment in different hospitals of the province including Karachi.
The health department said dengue patients have been found in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sanghar, Badin and Sukkur. SAMAA

KARACHI: Five people including a doctor have been shot dead in the city, SAMAA reported Saturday evening.
According to police, unknown miscreants shot dead Arshad, 20, and injured Wazir near Sunni Apartment area of Gulistan-e Jauhar.
Khursheed Anwar was targeted in Orangi Town’s sector 11. Khursheed was a resident of North Karachi.
Armed men killed police head constable Khalid Maqsood in Baloch Parra, Orangi Town.
Iqbal Shah, 40, has been shot dead in Khada Market, Lyari.

4.0 million displaced by floods: UN
UNITED NATIONS: The United Nations says up to 4.0 million people have now been affected by massive floods in Pakistan.
Emergency crews are trying to evacuate up to 500,000 people from low-lying villages in the southern provinces of Sindh and Punjab.
Bad weather has hampered rescue efforts in the northwest of Pakistan.
But military helicopters from the United States have joined the relief operation and flown several missions into the Swat Valley.
Aid groups said hundreds of thousands of people have lost their homes and are in desperate need of food and clean drinking water.
Pakistani president Asif Ali Zardari has been criticised by opposition groups for continuing an official visit to Europe while Pakistan is in crisis.
But the government has defended his absence and says it is doing all it can to provide help to the flood victims.
Toll hits 87 as 4 more killed in Karachi
KARACHI: With a military operation looming in the anarchy-ridden Karachi, daily life started returning to normalcy on Thursday; however, four more people were killed, taking the death toll to 87 since Monday, Geo News reported.
Three days after Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM)’s MPA Raza Haider’s murder, tension still prevailed in some areas, particularly Qasba Colony, Aligarh Colony, Bukhari Colony, Banaras, Kati Pahari, Peerabad, Mominabad and Orangi Town.
By and large, complete calm was witnessed and no major incidents were reported as public and private life started returning to normalcy.
However, pickup driver Mehmood Yaqoob, 35, was shot dead in Faqir Colony in the Mominabad police precincts. The victim was said to be a resident of Orangi Town, and police registered FIR No 514/10 against unidentified culprits.
Similarly, Allah Wasayo, 35, was gunned down near Khyber Masjid in the Paposh Nagar police precincts. The culprits took the victim’s mobile phone and Rs 1,500 cash before escaping.
Separately, a middle-aged man was fired at in Yousaf Goth, Orangi Town. Iqbal Market SHO Haji Liaquat said the unidentified victim had sustained an injury to his abdomen and was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he breathed his last.
In another incident, a body in a gunny bag body was found in a taxi near the Saba Cinema in the New Karachi locality. However, there was a dispute over jurisdiction between the Surjani, New Karachi Industrial Area and Ayub Goth police.
Incidents of firing and arson were also reported from different parts of the city. Miscreants set ablaze the furniture market in the Sultanabad locality after resorting to indiscriminate firing.
Fire tenders reached the site after almost an hour since they were delayed due to intense firing in the area. Around 20 shops were completely burnt before the fire could be brought under control.
In Buffer Zone, a dozen carpet and garments shops were damaged in Iran Shopping Centre, while a roadside hotel was also set ablaze.
In Orangi Town, a wood store was torched in Sector 111/2, while three houses in Raees Amrohi Colony; intense firing was also reported in various parts of the town.
Separately, a teashop was torched in the Shadman locality, while a container trailer in Liaquatabad; three other shops and more than 12 pushcarts were also burnt in separate localities.
Due to fear, sparse traffic was witnessed on the roads, while thin attendance at educational institutions and government and private offices.
Most areas of Orangi Town remained tense as the town echoed with intense firing all day. On the other hand, police carried out search operations in various parts of Gulistan-e-Jauhar to rescue an alleged MQM activist who was abducted by unidentified people; however, the law enforcers could not recover the man.
Meanwhile, citizens in different localities were faced with difficulties due to closure of markets, shops and petrol and CNG stations, as well as lack of transportation on the city’s roads; however, some shops and petrol and CNG stations remained opened to sell petrol, diesel and CNG at double prices.
14 dead in two days Karachi targeted killings
KARACHI: Six more people have been killed in separate incidents of targeted killings in Karachi, raising the toll up to 14 in two days.
According to police, firing by unknown gun men killed a seven year old girl, Bakhtawar, in Chakiwara area of Lyari.
In similar incidents, 28-year-old Muhammad Iqbal was gunned down in Baldia Town; motorcycle riders opened fire in Nusrat Bhutto Colony killing Shaukat, 28; while Zakir, 35, was shot dead at Numaish Chowrangi.
In Orangi Town, unidentified men’s firing killed 40-year-old Anwar Zaib; a bullet-riddled body of a youth was found from dyke no 5 at Malir River while two persons were injured by firing of unknown assailants in Qasba Colony.
Two men sustained bullet injuries in a firing incident in Khando Goth, North Nazimabad and two more were hurt in an attack by armed assailants in Orangi Town.
Shahbaz says Lahore attacks to be investigated
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif Friday said that an independent probe into the violent incidents in Garhi Shahu and Model Town will be undertaken.
Talking to media men here at 7 Club Road, Shahbaz Sharif termed the bloodshed at places of worship in Lahore as condemnable, saying the nation acknowledges it as barbarism.
He said unless Pakistan defeats terrorism and extremism it cannot get to its desired destination.
