KARACHI: A number of suspects have been taken under arrest amid a joint search operation carried out by police and rangers in separate areas of Orangi Town on late Saturday, TrendPK reported.
During the operation, all the entry and exit points of Orangi Town remained cordoned off under the security of police and rangers.
Sources said that area women staged protest against operation and arrests.
Law enforcement agencies’ sources said arrested suspects have been transferred to unknown location for interrogation.
Meanwhile, at least 10 women have been reportedly injured in firing from security forces and the subsequent stampede.

Karachi: 20 arrested in Rangers search operation
After a firefight between two gangs in Orangi Town that left three people dead, a limited scale search operation was conducted in the area.
Heavy contingents of Rangers cordoned off Sector C-1 of Orangio Town and conducted a door-to-door search operation.
The Rangers authorities said that the purpose of the operation was to recover illegal weapons that were being used in gang wars.
The Ranger abandoned the operation after arresting 20 suspects.
The locals protested against the operation and chanted slogans as well.
The violent mob attacked a police mobile van and not only damaged the van but also tortured four policemen.
Meanwhile, East district police arrested a political party activist, Hikmat Khan.
Operation in orangi town Karachi
Breaking News Karachi, trendpk :- A snap operation was conducted by The Law Enforcement Agencies in Orangi Town, Karachi. A private news channel reported to have detained at least 300 suspects today.
The whole area have cordoned off the by the Rangers. The Law Enforcement Agencies entered in Musqata Colony, Faqeer Colony and Umar Baloch Mohalla localities early in the morning at 07:30Am. The spokesman of the Rangers said that the police was not involved in the search operation. The suspects have been kept at six different locations.
The operation is going on in the area of UC Mominabad. House to House search operation is going on. The people were going to their jobs when suddenly operation was started. The Rangers also investing about the people who are not at their homes, from people, during search operation. Different people gave different opinions about the Orangi Town operation. According to police 300 suspects are arrested while local people said that more then 600 youngsters are arrested.
Orangi Town area is located northwestern part of Karachi and is suffering from the target killings tragedies from many years. On the other hand more then 40 people have lost their lives since last four days in target-killings.
Terror reigns Karachi as another 21 killed
As many as 21 people, including a private TV channel reporter and retired major, have been killed, while 10 got injured in the ongoing wave of targeted killing in Karachi, trendpk.com reported on Friday.
A retired army major Iqbal Kashmiri, an employee of Civil Aviation Authority, was killed in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. Unidentified armed persons opened fire on a bus in Orangi Town as a result of which 7 people got killed including a 7-year-old girl. The dead bodies have been shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital of Karachi. The deceased have been identified as M Ali, Jahngir Alim Dua Fatima, M Ishaq, Noor Hussai. A person got death in Liaquat Abad.
While in Liaqatabad, a private channel report has gunned down by unidentified persons. The funeral prayer of the assassinated reporter has been offered.

3 killed in criminal groups’ clash in Karachi, 15 suspects held

KARACHI: At least three persons have been killed and one woman sustained injuries during armed clashes of rival criminal groups in different parts of the metropolis; the police and rangers held 15 suspects during a combined operation in Orangi Town on Wednesday.
According to details, two criminal groups started an armed clash in Orangi Town today. During the exchange of fire, Abdul Latif, 20 was shot dead and Dost Muhammad, 12 and Zarina 35 sustained serious bullet wounds; later on, Dost Muhammad also expired.
After a fierce shoot out between the local criminals, fear took over the entire area and frightened and harassed people turned imprisoned in their homes.
The police and rangers rushed to the scene and started a combined house to house search operation after barricading the whole area. During the search, they arrested 15 suspected
Karachi CID arrests TTP commander

KARACHI: A team of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) has held a commander of banned outfit Tehreek-e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and mastermind of suicide attacks, Yousuf alias Qari, from Orangi Town Wednesday.
CID police said that Qari was arrested from Mominabad area of Orangi Town, adding that Qari planned the suicide attack on the training camp for special force in Mingora on August 30, 2009 where 17 security men were martyred and several others wounded.
According to the initial investigation, he has accepted attacks on security check posts and destruction of schools, police sources added.

SSP Tariq Dharijo said that Israr was apprehended red-handed and police also recovered weapon from his possession. Israr was also involved in bank robbery in SITE area on August 17.

2 more dengue patients die in Karachi

KARACHI: Two more dengue patients have died in Karachi on Saturday. The death toll climbs to 15 in Sindh.
Naila, 22, resident of Orangi Town was admitted in Jinnah Hospital while Noor Mohammad, 40, resident of Orangi Town was under treatment in Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
The Sindh Health Department has confirmed that 1,639 have been found positive with the virus while 2,974 people with dengue symptoms had been brought to the different hospitals of Sindh.
SAMAA learnt that 197 dengue patients are under treatment in different hospitals of the province including Karachi.
The health department said dengue patients have been found in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sanghar, Badin and Sukkur. SAMAA

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has summoned Interior Minister Rehman Malik and Sindh Home Minister Zulfiqar Mirza to Islamabad to review the prevailing law and order situation in Karachi.
More than 60 people were killed and several others wounded in four-day violence which erupted ahead of a by-election in Orangi Town on Saturday.
According to sources, Rehman Malik will brief the President about the outcome of his recent visit to Karachi.
He will submit a report about his meetings with leaders of MQM and other parties.

Altaf pressures govt to fulfill its promises

LONDON/KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has warned the government to fulfill its promises or the people will decided either the party (MQM) will remain with the government or to choose a separate path.
During his telephonic address at Nine Zero, MQM office situated in Azizabad, and Orangi Town, he congratulated Saifuddin, who won PS-94 by-polls last day (Sunday).
Mr Altaf said that despite the bloodshed in the city, MQM won the seat. He indicated that the time of accountability is near for those who looted country’s money.
The MQM chief said that the rulers should not consider MQM’s democratic way as the weakness of the party. He also said that it is not in the manifesto of the MQM to remain with the government. SAMAA
