“Situation in Karachi has deep repercussions across the country,” he said while talking briefly to the media on arrival at Jinnah International Airport.
He said the business and industrial activities have also been severely affected due to the present law and order situation in the city.

Shahbaz takes up gas problem with PM Gilani
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif Sunday took up the ongoing gas load shedding problem with Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani.
The meeting between the two leaders took place at the residence of Prime Minister in Lahore.
According to reports, Chief Minister Shahbaz informed the Prime Minister about the difficulties being faced in Punjab due to gas load shedding.
Two leaders exchanged views on the appointment of new governor, law and order situation and other important matters.
In addition, the performance of committee formed to implement PML-N’s 10 points in a period of 45 days also featured in the meeting. TrendPK

Business activity started with positive note, as investors neglected the deteriorated law and order situation in Karachi. Cement, fertilizer and chemical sectors witnessed brisk activity. At the end of the day, KSE closed at 12,533 points which was the highest level from last 21 months.
$7.6bn TAPI gas pipeline project finally signed

Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan and India inked an agreement of $7.6b gas pipeline on Saturday.
The agreement was signed by President Asif Ali Zardari. The president also met with Afghanistan, Turkmenistan Presidents, while Indian petroleum minister was also present. The gas pipeline will connect Pak gas network near Multan and would help overcome energy crisis.
Construction of the pipeline will be completed by 2013-14. President Asif Ali Zardari said that the project would bring prosperity in the region.
Experts showed their concerns on projects completion due to law and order situation in Afghanistan but all the member countries were hopeful for its completion in time.

Malik denies presence of Blackwater

LAHORE: Interior Minister Rehman Malik says that he is prepared to take action within 24 hours if given evidence about allegations of Blackwater operating in the country.
He was speaking to the media after holding a meeting with Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Munawar Hasan, Qazi Hussain Ahmed and other prominent leaders at Mansoora in Lahore today (Friday).
“There is no presence of Blackwater or any other foreign agency in the country,” he reiterated, adding that action will be taken within 24 hours if provided with evidence in this regard.
Malik said that no compromise will be made on the country’s sovereignty.
About his meeting with JI leaders, he said that the overall law and order situation came under discussion.

Govt to launch covert operation in Karachi: Malik
Interior Minister Rehman Malik said that serious action would be taken against the terrorists in Karachi but it would be kept secret. He said that Coast Guards would be given special anti-terrorism powers to stop the escape of terrorists.
After a high level meeting on Karachi situation, he said that 3,000 security personnel will be recruited in Sindh Women Police to normalize the law and order situation in Karachi. He said that all political parties have been taken into confidence and policy of reconciliation would be continued. On this occasion, Sindh Interior Minister Zulfiqar Mirza said that Ghotki police have killed the most wanted dacoit Qadri Chachar.
