Many pilots, flight crew and ground staff of Pakistan International Airlines went on a strike on Tuesday to protest against a proposed codeshare agreement with Turkish Airlines.

The protesting employees are also demanding the sacking of PIA s managing director, Aijaz Haroon, an airline pilot considered a close friend of President Asif Ali Zardari. As the protests continue, for the first time in history of Pakistan, not a single PIA flight was able to take off today from any of the airport due to which the national carrier has faced a loss of more than 1 billion rupees. The passengers are facing lots of problems due to the cancellation of flights. PIA’s flight PK-2 bound for Gilgit from Islamabad, PK-1 bound for Chitral from Islamabad and four flights for Karachi got cancelled.

While five flights from Multan, Lahore and Karachi could not reach Islamabad. Six domestic and one international flight got cancelled at Multan airport. Similarly just like other countries, inbound and outbound flights to Quetta were also cancelled. Five Iiternational flights destined to Birmingham, Kabul, Dubai and Manchester from Islamabad were also cancelled. As this situation is getting worse, the private airlines are taking advantage by increasing the fare prices immensely.

LONDON: The euro and European stocks rallied strongly on Wednesday and pressure on Spain eased, but the eurozone debt crisis weighed heavily with a credit watch for Portugal and Germany struggling to sell bonds.

Leading EU figures warned that financial markets were underestimating the will of EU leaders and institutions to defend the euro and the eurozone.

But in a new sign of the extent of anxiety among investors, a German bond issue was undersubscribed.

“Markets are still concerned about the debt crisis spreading to other countries,” said Commerzbank analyst Ulrich Leuchtmann.

The euro shot above 1.31 dollars in trading here, a day after hitting a two-month low point under 1.30 dollars. The Madrid stock market meanwhile surged more than 3.0 percent in early afternoon trading.

Most Asian stocks slipped Wednesday on fears of a slowdown in the Chinese economy after Beijing announced its first interest rate rise in three years.
Traders grew concerned that any easing in the world’s second biggest economy could hurt the exports of other countries looking to China’s growth as the key to recovery from the global downturn. Tokyo tumbled 1.65 percent, or 157.85 points, to 9,381.60 and Hong Kong had slipped 0.65 percent by the break.Sydney was 0.66 percent, or 30.8 points, lower at 4,624.9, with resources firms hit as they rely heavily on Chinese demand.Shanghai was 1.16 percent up in the afternoon and Seoul rose 0.71 percent, adding 13.12 points to end at 1,870.44. The People’s Bank of China announced late Tuesday it would raise the benchmark one-year lending and deposit rates by 25 basis points each, as Beijing tries to contain inflation and soaring property prices. Apple announced the iPhone 4 today and introduced ten new features such as a slimmer body, HD video recording, and improved battery life. However, the iPhone is known for exploding smartphone gaming with hundreds of games from independent and big name developers to the point that Nintendo sees Apple as its main threat now. So, what did Apple add to the iPhone 4 for gaming? How about a 3-axis gyroscope to improve motion controls.

The new 3-axis gyroscope in combination with the existing accelerometer giives the iPhone six-axis mtion sensing (up/down, side to side, forward/backward, pitch/roll). Developers will be able to use the new gyroscope with the CoreMotion API to create games and applications for the smart phone. bc9fc5b17cgblack gyroscope
According to the information we received today, the phone will be released on June 24th in the U.S. other countries have not been mentioned so far.

The phone will have an enhanced image quality thanks to the Retinal display technology so the screen now displays 326 pixels per inch.
This announcement got a few hearty cheers apparently from the audience at WWDC, and as many iPhone app developers concentrate on the lucrative gaming segment, this isn’t too surprising. Some gaming applications that we can think of right off the bat include flight simulators, better augmented reality apps that take into account elevation/pitch changes, sport games (image iPhone 4 + Wii) and as Jobs demoed, games such as Jenga:

The game that immediately sticks out to me that would benefit the most from this extra degree of control would be a game like Zen Bound [$2.99 / Free], as I imagine manipulating the objects you wrap could be even easier with yet another degree of control. It’s not hard to think of other games that could be enhanced by the extremely precise motion tracking, especially if you’ve ever used a Wii Motion Plus and have seen just how much the addition of a gyroscope can improve how accurately a game can track your movement.

Like anything on the App Store, it’s up to developers to implement these new features. All we can do is wait and see what they come up with once they finally get the device in their hands.
