BADIN: President Asif Ali Zardari said on Friday that anti-government move failed, adding that democracy defends itself.
President Zardari, along with National Assembly Speaker Dr. Fehmida Mirza, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Farzana Raja, Zulfiqar Mirza and others distributed cheques among flood victims in Badin.
“The people of Pakistan support Pakistan Peoples Party. It’s our duty to resolve the problems of common people. It is the agenda of our government to address common issues.”
He said that his government has given priority to flood victims despite political disturbance in the country.
It is first time in the history of Pakistan that this government has imposed tax on landlords and rich people.

Malik seeks account of Indian magistrate on Ajmal Kasaab
ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Abdul Rehman Malik has said Saturday that the Indian magistrate who recorded statement of Ajmal Kasaab, the Mumbai attack suspect, should come to Pakistan to give his account in order for further action into case, Geo news reported Saturday night.
“Sans Indian magistrate’s statement, it is almost impossible to take further correspondence into case”, he said.
He was talking to media here in Islamabad. Malik said terror attacks in Lahore were on cards as security forces and Punjab government had been warned through intelligence report against likelihood of such barbaric attacks.
“Terrorists want to destabilize Punjab government by targeting Lahore time and again”, he observed adding, insurgents merely seek to spark thrill in country despite our government has become triumphant in curbing this menace a great deal.
Advising media, Malik said reporters must stay cautious while reporting incidents of terrorism, hoping that a code of conduct would soon be formulated in this wake after having taken media personnel under confidence.
Govt. seeking consensus on 18th amendment bill: President
NAUDERO: President Asif Ali Zardari early Sunday said we are trying to get 18th amendment bill endorsed in parliament through reaching consensus from members of two houses.
He said anti-government elements are now on backtracks while we are enjoying people’s support.
Addressing a huge mass gathering held here in Garhi Khuda Baksh in connection with death anniversary of PPP’s founder leader Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, President Zardari said still our government has to do too many more things besides endorsement of 18th amendment from parliament.
Nation should be obliged and grateful to the people hailing from Garhi Khuda Baksh over restoration of 1973 constitution in letter and spirit, he said.
18th amendment is the victory of PPP-led democratic government, he observed.
We have strengthened democracy during two years of government and are heading to give nation a ‘new Pakistan’.
Zulifqar Mirza, Farooq Sattar tried to stop CJP’s Karachi visit
Karachi, Pakistan:- Sindh Interior Minister Zulifqar Mirza has accused that Farooq Sattar tried to stop Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry’s arrival in Karachi May 12.
He said that he will inform the media all about the matter. In a press conference in Karachi, Zulifqar Mirza said that he would retaliate if anybody tried to destabilize our government on hints of establishment. He vowed to wage war against the people who destabilized the country.
He said that democracy was restored after a lot of sacrifices given by the people, PPP, ANP on May 12 in Karachi. He said that the Chief Justice should reopen the cases which were ended by NRO.
