North Waziristan: 6 killed in drone attack

In North Waziristan, 6 people including some foreigners and miscreants got killed in a US drone attack.
According to official sources, a US drone fired 6 missiles on a house and a car in the area of Sanzlai of Tehsil Ditta Khail, some 50 kilometers from Miranshah. As a result of this attack, 6 miscreants got killed. The US drone kept hovering over the area even after the attack. It is also known that 3 foreigners also got killed in this drone attack.

25 extremists prosecuted in anti-terror court in Swat

SWAT: At least 25 accused terrorists have been brought before an especial anti-terrorism court here in Swat on Tuesday morning, Geo news reported.

According to sources, most among them were those who gave in to security forces and had laid down arms.

Extraordinary security measures were seen adopted in and around city district court Swat in connection with the sensitivity of case, sources told media.

Meanwhile, Molana Sufi Mohammed along with his three sons namely Abdul Rehman, Abdullah and Rizwanullah were to be produced before anti-terrorism court, but, they were not brought for anonymous reasons, source said further.

US drone strike kills 7 in NWaziristan

WANA: At least seven alleged militants have been killed in two US drone strikes in Karikot village in North Waziristan on Tuesday morning, Geo news reported.

According to sources, two missiles were fired on a compound, resulting in killings of a total of seven alleged extremists whereas the compound was left completely shattered.

Local residents have kicked off rescue efforts on their own following deadly missiles onslaught, sources said.

The latest death toll will be ascertained following completion of rescue activities as the rubble is being cleared off the attack site.

Meanwhile, drone’s flights are still underway over the area, witnesses said.

Pakistan against Iran sanctions: FO

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has categorically said that it wants the resolution of disputes through dialogue and that it is against the sanctions on Iran, said Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit Thursday.

“Iran’s nuclear issue be resolved diplomatically,” FO spokesman said at a weekly briefing here.

He said President Asif Ali Zardari will soon undertake a tour of China.

Replying a question, Abdul Basit said Indian media should shake away its anti-Pakistan attitude to give way to a new beginning in bilateral relations.

He said several suggestions have come up in the Afghan peace jirga in connection with establishment of peace which need implementation.

The FO spokesman said there is a need to build confidence on sides at Pakinsta-India foreign ministers’ meeting to be held on July 15.

He said efforts are afoot to improve human rights situation in the current democratic regime.

Water inflow matches outflow at Attabad lake

HUNZA: Water inflow and outflow continues at a matching speed at Attabad lake as goods and affectees are being moved through helicopter and boat services.

According to official sources, water is flowing at 5000 cusecs into the landslide- formed Attabad lake while outflow also continues at the matching rate.

It is being feared that 15000 to 20000 cusecs water from melting glaciers will make its way into the lake in July. Earlier, this water used to flow into the Hunza River.

Helicopter service continues in Hunza and Gilgit following improvement in weather conditions. Now the affectees of Tehsil Gojal are being shifted to their areas.

Boat service is ferrying people in the upper areas of Hunza while Gilgit-Hunza section of Karakorum Highway remained opened till 4 pm today for transporting relief goods to the calamity-stricken people.

Drone strike in North Waziristan kills 3

MIRAMSHAH: Three people were killed in latest drone attack in Khadi areas of North Waziristan Agency, Geo News reported Thursday.

According to sources, two missiles were fired through a pilotless aircraft in Khadi area of North Waziristan, killing three people.

Drones are still flying across the air space over the area, sources added.

Suspected US drone kills 6 in N.Waziristan

BANNU: At least six persons were killed in a US unmanned plane attack on Tapi area located on Miranshah road in Bannu of North Waziristan district, sources told media late on Tuesday night.

Two missiles were fired from US drone, killing six persons and injuring few more, according to preliminary information as reported by sources.

More drones’ flights are still underway over the area, sources further said.

According to details reached here as released by a foreign news agency, an unmanned US aircraft fired three missiles, destroying a compound in tribal belt near the Afghan border early Wednesday and killing six militants, security officials said.

“A US drone attack targeted a compound owned by Zamir Khan, a local tribesman, and used by militants. Two missiles were fired,” a Pakistani security official told media on condition of anonymity.

“Four people were killed,” the official said. The strike took place at the village of Tapi, in the district of North Waziristan about 20 kilometres (13 miles) east of the town of Miranshah.

Another intelligence official confirmed the first attack and said another US drone fired a third drone into the same compound killing, another two suspected militants and bringing the overall death toll to six.

The identities of the dead were not immediately known, nor whether they included any high-value targets.

The area is a known stronghold of the Haqqani network active in attacks on US troops in Afghanistan and of Afghan warlord Hafiz Gul Bahadur, who is reputed to control up to 2,000 fighters in the nine-year Afghan insurgency.

After the first attack at about 12:45 am (1945 GMT) local residents saw flames leaping out of the compound and said more drones were hovering over the area, preventing them from collecting the dead.

Local security officials said the targeted compound was a residence for militants and Wednesday”s attack was the second in North Waziristan in days.

Two militants were also wounded in the attack, they said.

704e7db7d1ck jpg 3 Children Among 4 Killed In Rocket Attack:Four people including 3 siblings and their aunt died while nine others injured when a rocket fell at a house in Bahamari area, Peshawar.
According to SHO PS Bahamari, some unidentified miscreants fired the rocket, which fell on the house of one Rehman Ullah. Resultantly, four persons including Rehman’s three children aged between 9 to 12 and his 16-year-old sister died on the spot while nine others received serious burn injuries. The wounded were shifted to hospital, of whom four are stated to be in a critical condition, while rescue teams are busy in removing the debris.
