Firdous Awan hopes court will do justice

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan Monday said she hoped that the Supreme Court (SC) will do justice to Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, who has been accused of contempt of court for not implementing the court orders over a span of two years.

Awami National Party (ANP) Chief Asfandyar Wali Khan said his party will remain in coalition government regardless of the verdict.

Meantime, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, talking to the battery of reporters outside the apex court building, said he had offered a good counsel to the PM Gilani in this regard. TrendPK

Malik orders inquiry into NA weapon incident

ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Rehman A. Malik Tuesday said he had ordered an inquiry into taking firearms to National Assembly, adding a report in this regard will be tabled in the House within three days.

According to details, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) lawmaker Aijaz Virk told the NA session convened under Chairman Nadeem Afzal Chan that two members have come to the House carrying firearms for four years now.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Abid Sher Ali said Virk should have told the names of those lawmakers wielding firearms into the House.

The federal interior minister noted the Parliament’s security is the responsibility of Islamabad police and the Rangers, adding whoever member comes to the Assembly, he is searched; however, inquiry will be made into the weapon-carrying incident. TrendPK

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has convened an important meeting of party leaders at Raiwind in Lahore tomorrow (Tuesday), TrendPK reported on Monday.
 
All top leadership of the party including Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Senator Mushahidullah, Khwaja Saad Rafique, Khwaja Muhammad Asif, Ahsan Iqbal and many others will attend the meeting.

Ch. Shujaat sees conditions going out of control

SUKKUR: Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain Friday warned the situation will go out of control in the absence of an alliance of all political parties.

Talking to media before leaving for Pir Jo Goth, the place of last resting abode of the seventh Pir Pagara, he said all political par ties will have to make joint efforts to resolve the issues facing the countries.

The PML-Q chief said his party is all geared up even if the elections are held within six months, adding his party will make seat adjustment with Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in the next elections.

When asked to comment on issue pertaining to letter to the Swiss government, he said the matter is pending before the court; otherwise, he would have liked to say something on it. TrendPK

PML-N links dengue outbreak with power cuts

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has linked the outbreak of dengue virus with unscheduled and prolong power cuts.

The PML-N has submitted an adjournment motion in National Assembly against power outages in Lahore.

According to the adjournment motion, unscheduled power outages are forcing people to sleep on their rooftops and open areas. As a result, they expose themselves to dengue mosquitoes and get bitten.

It said that the load shedding is also blocking the provision of medical facilities to the affected patients.
Lahore, it demanded, be exempted from power shortages.

The motion was tabled by Naseer Bhutta, Khwaja Saad Rafiq, Mian Marghoob Ahmed and Umar Zia Butt. TrendPK

ANP backs nationalists, PPP vows counter-strike on 13th

The strike has been called for restoration of local government system in Sindh.

Addressing a news conference at the Mardan House, he said that every conspiracy against Sindh will be foiled.

The ANP leader also appealed to the transporters and businessmen to support the strike and not carry out their routine activities.

He said that the role of Sindh nationalists regarding provincial autonomy cannot be forgotten.

Differences between the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government and Sindh nationalist parties are increasing over restoration of the local bodies’ system.

According to details, the Sindh government has decided to reply strongly to the nationalists who are opposing the Local Government (LG) system.

The government has also decided to stage protests against the nationalists.

Meanwhile, PPP leader Zulfiqar Mirza bitterly criticised the Sindh nationalist leaders, saying they are opportunists.

Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) Chief Pir Pagara also said he would play a role to bridge the divide between rural and urban Sindh.

Backing the viewpoint of nationalists, Pir Pagara said his ancestors rendered sacrifices.

Anjum Aqeel freed on bail

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Anjum Aqeel and 31 others were granted bail by the anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi.

The court ordered to land scam accused Anjum Aqeel and 31 others to submit Rs 100,000 each as a surety bond.

PML-N MNA also received bails in all three cases against him.

Earlier, Aqeel was sent on a 14-day judicial remand in land scam case here on Monday.

The Federal Investigation Agency requested the court to extend Aqeel’s judicial remand.

Aqeel was arrested in connection with the National Police Foundation fraud case.

We must not beg, says Nawaz Sharif

GUJRAT: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Chief Nawaz Sharif Friday advised the government against being beggars.

Addressing party’s workers convention here, the PML-N chief said the biggest problem of the country today is power load shedding and unemployment; he vowed to end these problems when his party comes into power.

The PML-N chief said, “We should not beg for money from any country; instead, we should work hard for the development of our country.”

Sharif lamented on the overall situation of the country, saying people now need change as they are unhappy with the current government. TrendPK

LAHORE: An ongoing tussle between Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is set to enter its decisive moment, TrendPK reported Friday.
