Vidya celebrates 33rd birthday today

MUMBAI: Vidya Balan turns 33 on January 1. The actress plans on bringing in her birthday and the New Year at her parents” place in Khar, Mumbai.

Initially, she was planning to spend the special day with friends, but given the fact that she”s been on the road promoting No One Killed Jessica for the last few weeks, Vidya wants to be with her mom and dad.

A source close to Vidya says, “She”s been in and out of Mumbai for the last six months. Earlier she was shooting for Sujoy Ghosh”s Kahaani for almost two months.

After that she got into the promotion of Jessica travelling to almost every major city. Her busy schedule hasn”t given her any chance to spend time with her parents.”

Since her birthday and New Year fall on the same day, Vidya has a double reason to celebrate.

Despite buying a new apartment in Khar, the actress wasn”t able to renovate the place or spend time in it. Her New Year resolution is to buy some antique furniture and do up her place.

Every year, Vidya prefers to keep her birthday a low-key affair. Rather than go out with friends, she enjoys spending quality time with her parents. “This year will be no different. She will bring in her birthday and the New Year at her parents” house. Since she doesn”t believe in cutting a cake, her mom plans to prepare a sweet dish on the occasion,” a source said.

After the release of No One Killed Jessica, Vidya plans to start preparing for her next film Balaji”s Dirty Picture based on the life of Silk Smitha.

Dr. Imran Farooq’s corpse to be buried in Karachi after arrival on Saturday

LONDON: The corpse of Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) slain leader, Dr. Imran Farooq, will be burried in Karachi and it is likely that his dead body will reach to Karachi on Saturday.

Sources told that the police handed over, on Monday, the remains of Dr. Imran Farooq to his parents in London.

The sources added that the corpse of Dr. Imran Farooq would be buried in Yasinabad’ Shohda Graveyard. His funeral prayer would be performed in London on Thursday.

The parents of Dr. Imran Farooq reached in London with a Raza Haroon last week while the wife and a brother of the slain MQM leader were already present in London.

Dr. Imran Farooq was a very prominent leader of MQM. He was murdered on September 16 by some unknown attackers in London. Trend Pk

Sources told that London police have handed over Dr Imran Farooq’s body to his parents.

Dr Imran Farooq would be buried in Yasinabad graveyard. His funerals would be performed in London on Thursday , sources added.

UK police to hand over Dr Imran’s body to parents

LONDON/KARACHI: The UK Police have decided to hand over slain Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Dr Imran Farooq’s body to his parents, Trend Pk learnt Saturday.

Dr Imran was killed by unknown men on September 16 outside his residence in London.

The police would start the process from Monday, sources said.

An application for the process has been given to the police by Dr Imran’s father.

The sources told Trend Pk that Dr Imran’s body would be handed over to his parents on coming Thursday or Friday. No decision of hi funeral has been taken yet.

Dr Imran’s parents met high officials where they were briefed about the progress in probe.

Gilani keeps his words on Shaista’s enrolment

ISLAMABAD: On the directive of Prime Minister Syed Raza Gilani, Shaista, a poor plastic bag seller, was admitted to FG Juniors Model School in Islamabad on Monday.

It may be reminded here that Prime Minister Gilani had promised to enroll Shaista enrolled in a school during his visit to a Sunday Bazaar last week.

Taking notice of the SAMAA report, the Prime Minister directed Islamabad’s commissioner to immediately enroll the plastic bag seller to any school.

At the time of admission, Islamabad’s assistant commissioner was also present in the school. He also gave Rs5000 in cash to the parents of Shaista for buying school uniform. SAMAA

PML-N lawmaker tortures his pregnant wife

MUZAFFARGARH: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Haroon Sultan has reportedly tortured his pregnant wife.

Haroon Sultan is member of the Punjab Assembly. He got married Mubarak Fatima, 20, just two months back.

Fatima phoned her parents last night complaining them for Sultan’s torture. She was then taken to Lahore’s Services Hospital in critical condition.

SAMAA learnt that Mubarak Fatima’s parents are being forced to take her back.

Priyanka’s parents surprise her to tears

Normally Priyanka Chopra is not the kind of girl who displays emotions, not even in front of her own family. But on the night of 16 July when her parents threw a small pre-birthday party at home for her and her close friends, Priyanka for the first time cried openly.

It was not the well-organized party where her mother cooked her favourite Punjabi dishes. It was the gift that her parents bought her, a 6-carat diamond ring, which made Priyanka bawl like a baby.

Says a close friend who was at the get-together. “The minute she saw the gift Priyanka burst into tears. We were shocked because we had never seen her like that.” Apparently, Priyanka proudly wore the ring to her beachside holiday although her parents warned her she might drop it in the water.

Priyanka’s brother Siddharth who celebrates his birthday a week before his sister kept teasing her about hiding the ring before she left.

Incidentally, Priyanka had arranged a surprise birthday party at China House at the Grand Hyatt for her brother.

Says PC’s close friend, “It was his 21st birthday and very special. Priyanka looked into every detail personally although she was shooting for Saat Khoon Maaf. Siddharth who has just returned from a year-long course on the culinary arts from Switzerland cooked Priyanka’s favourite pasta for her birthday.”

Punjab govt withdraws notification of changes in Nikkah Nama

LAHORE: Government of Punjab has withdrawn notification, introducing a number of changes in Nikkah Nama.

Earlier, the notification had introduced 8 amendments in the Nikkah Nama, making mandatory the affixing of photos of the couple, inclusion of verified dates of birth, blood groups, medical check ups and mark of identifications besides signatures of the parents as witnesses.
