Chitrangda Singh to judge reality show on television

She took everyone by surprise by her stunning good looks and equally applaud-worthy acting skills when she made her debut with Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi. Post her marriage to Jyoti Randhawa, Chitrangda Singh disappeared for sometime but is back again and how. Not only does she have a fair share of work in films waiting for her but she is also all set to be a judge on a reality show on Imagine TV and will start shooting for the 13 episodes by the end of this month.

While Chitrangda is all set to plunge into this one, she will soon start shooting for Desi Boyz with Akshay Kumar. She is also anxiously waiting to start work on Sudhir Mishra’s Yeh Saali Zindagi in which she is playing a musician who uses a man in love with her, to get the one she actually fancies. Sounds interesting and with an actor like Chitrangda at the in lead, it would surely be a good watch.

Geetha Arts & KWAN join hands to start Entertainment Marketing Agency

One of the leading production houses down south – Geetha Arts are now partners with KWAN, India’s premier entertainment and marketing company to form Artist Alliance -India’s first ever entertainment marketing firm focused on South Indian cinema. Floated by two of the biggest names in the entertainment business, Artist Alliance will replicate KWAN’s business model in Southern Cinema working in the areas of celebrity management, movie marketing, in-film placements, casting, television and event sponsorships.

The clients managed by Artists Alliance (KWAN + Geetha Arts jointly) already include Suriya, Ram Charan Teja, Allu Arjun, Simbu, Tamannaah Bhatia, Shruti Haasan and Kajal Aggarwal. The management of the South careers of a few more Bollywood celebrities is also in the pipeline and the associations will be announced soon.

Speaking about the JV, Anirban Das Blah, MD KWAN says, “Markets like TN and AP are large enough as economies to be among the top 75 countries in the world on a standalone basis. They also have a distinct cultural and linguistic identity that doesn’t adhere to the one-size-fits-all approach that most brands follow. Artist Alliance and our partnership with Geetha Arts allows brands to reach to consumers across the fast growing markets in the South more effectively than ever before. For a brand looking at leadership in the South, Artist Alliance is not just the best option, it’s the ONLY option”.

Allu Sirish, President, Geetha Arts reiterates this mutually beneficial partnership and says, “South Indians are one of the most avid and intense consumers of entertainment. Despite that, because of the unorganized functioning of the industry, the brand endorsement market is nowhere close to capping its best potential. Artist Alliance is here to help brands and marketers navigate through this new space. Marketers need an agency that can understand, appreciate and leverage local sensibilities followed by flawless execution in order to add the magic of movies and entertainment to their campaigns. It helped that we as an organisation, share a similar vision and ideology as that of KWAN and the JV was a natural result of it. In fact, we decided on the JV in one single meeting itself – we were that much in sync. What most brands miss is that beyond the top two-three towns in each state, people don’t watch Bollywood content. It’s essential to connect with consumers on an intrinsic level by speaking their language, knowing their customs etc. Since the present market is going to grow multiple folds in the coming years, Artist Alliance is the first and largest player in this space.”

Pak-US partnership will deliver common goals of security: Patterson

JACOBABAD: US Ambassador in Pakistan Anne W. Patterson on Sunday said that America”s offer of a long-term partnership with Pakistan is tangible and “It is our hope that this partnership will deliver our common goals of security and prosperity, in the region and throughout the world.”

Pakistanis and Americans are working together to build a better world, “We all aspire to leave as our legacy,” she said while addressing the handing over ceremony of latest version of F-16 aircraft to Pakistan Air Force (PAF) at newly upgraded Air Base Shahbaz.

She said that Pakistan and the United States share a deep and broad partnership, which is growing to encompass nearly every element of government-to-government cooperation.

Under the Strategic Dialogue established by US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, she said, the two nations are working together on economic development, trade and energy, health care, education, science and technology and agriculture.

“Our governments share a vision of partnership today which is unprecedented in the history of our bilateral relationship,” she said.

It both reflects America”s long-term commitment to Pakistan as an important ally and partner and “is a testament to the shared vision of our democratically elected governments,” she added.

The US Ambassador said that an important element of Pakistan-US relationship is strong and a growing security partnership, through which the two countries are working to make this region secure, stable and peaceful.

She recalled that four years ago, the United States and the Government of Pakistan had signed a Letter of Agreement for the acquisition of 18 new F-16 aircraft by Pakistan to support this country”s counterterrorism efforts.

“I am glad to be here today to witness the induction of the first three of these aircraft into the Pakistan Air Force in an event which begins yet another cycle of fulfillment in America”s commitments to Pakistan,” the US envoy said.

The induction of these advanced F-16s is a historic milestone for US-Pakistan relations – “both a symbolic and a tangible demonstration of our strong partnership” and the US intent to stand beside Pakistan over the long-term as an important ally and friend, Patterson said.

“Our commitment does not end with the delivery of these aircraft. The United States will continue to support the Pakistan Air Force through training and munitions procurement, and through updates to the 45 F-16s in the Pakistan Air Force”s existing fleet,” she added.

The US Ambassador said that she was impressed by the skills of Pakistani pilots as they have prepared to fly the F-16 aircraft in defense of Pakistan. “But Americans know that extraordinarily powerful weapons alone cannot strengthen this or any other nation. The strength of our economies and our institutions and our people also are key elements of national power.”

Tendulkar reached the historic landmark off just 147 deliveries, and having already treated the capacity crowd and millions of television viewers to 25 sublime hits to the fence and three mighty sixes, Tendulkar without taking the foot off the accelerator pedal throughout his saga.

This achievement came in the last over, and shortly after Tendulkar had achieved the highest ever score in one-dayers when, with a single to short-fine left, he overtook Saeed Anwar’s 13-year old record of 194 runs.

South Africa seemed to have got some respite when India lost the wicket of power-hitter Yusuf Pathan just when his partnership with Sachin Tendulkar was beginning to take threatening proportions for the visitors.

Pathan’s wicket in the 41st over came against the run of play to Roelf van der Merve and after India had already amassed 300 runs.

The run-fest for India at Gwalior continued as undeterred by Dinesh Karthik’s loss, Tendulkar continued his rich vein of form, after having raced away to 150 runs off just 118 balls.

Alongwith Pathan, Tendulkar compounded South Africa’s woes mercilessly with an 81 run-partnership for the third wicket off 47 balls.

Even after Pathan’s dismissal, Tendulkar maintained the pressure on South Africans and after 43 overs, India, at 322/3, looked on course for a massive total.

However, their hardly proved to be any relief for South Africa as Mahendra Singh Dhoni then continued from where Pathan had left and with a 29-ball half-century, knocked the stuffing out of the hapless visitors.

Karthik had earlier, missed out on a well-deserved hundred when he scooped out a tame catch to Gibbs at mid-wicket. Having played the perfect foil to an unstoppable Sachin Tendulkar during their second-wicket partnership that fetched 194 runs off just 177 balls, Karthik helped himself to a career best 79 runs, but fell just when his maiden one-day century seemed to be their for the taking.

Karthik lasted 85 balls during his stroke-filled stay that was punctuated with 4 boundaries and 3 sixes.

Gwalior was playing witness to a vintage Tendulkar, as the Master Blaster from Mumbai, continued to turn the heat on the South Africans in the second one-dayer of the three match series here on Wednesday.

Tendulkar, who is enduring a purple patch off late, in Tests as well as the ODIs, had smashed his 46th century of this format off just 90 balls, pulverizing the Proteas bowler ruthlessly into submission.

Despite losing his opening partner Virender Sehwag early, Tendulkar took it upon himself to provide the early momentum, plucking boundaries at will as India raced away to 176/1 after 28 overs.

While Karthik provided solidity to the partnership, Tendulkar was the plunderer.

Some of his shots, like a flick to a delivery from outside the off-stump, the ferocious pull s over mid-wicket, drives- lofted as well as grounded, were the stuff that gave ample proof of the genius Tendulkar was bestowed with, as he had raced away to his half-century off just 37 balls.

His ‘lofted on the up’ shot over mid-off was particularly reminiscent of the Tendulkar of yore.

Karthik also helped himself to a solid half-century, his land-mark coming off 57 deliveries.

Earlier, after Dhoni had won the toss and elected to bat, India had not made the most auspicious of starts to the match losing Sehwag in just the fourth over with just 25 runs on the board.

Having hit 2 fours already, Sehwag, tried to slash over the point off Wayne Parnell, but failed to beat the third-man where Dale Steyn took a well-judged catch. Meanwhile, after Sehwag recovered from injury he sustained in the last match, India, lead 1-0 in the three-match series, retained the same side that played the last match at Jaipur where as South Africans made three changes in their squad.

J P Duminy, who has been out of form throughout the Test series, came into the side Bosman. Prolific scorer Hashim Amla and all-rounder Van der Merwe were also named in the final XI.
