Enforcement Directorate confiscates Adnan Sami’s properties
Adnan Sami came to Mumbai and shot to fame with songs like ‘Kabhi Toh Nazar Milaao’, ‘Lift Kara De’ and likes. The songs became so famous far and wide that Adnan, in no time, became the blue eyed boy of the music industry. Not the one to ‘throw his weight around’; he shocked everyone with ‘shedding off his weight’, one fine day!
Post that, he has been in the news mostly for his personal reasons than professional. Few days back, Adnan was in the news for his estranged relationship with his ex-wife. His family issues were out in the open. And now just when, things seemed to settle down for the singer, another controversy has struck him.
It is learnt that The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has confiscated Adnan’s eight properties and five parking spaces under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). According to the reports, ED slapped the penalty on Adnan on grounds of illegal possession of the estate and now as per FEMA, Adnan’s same belongings have become government properties. Not just that, the Directorate not only imposed a fine of Rs 20 lakh on him, (as being a Pakistan national, he was not allowed to acquire properties in India), but also charged him with purchasing properties without the permission of the Reserve Bank of India.
News has it that the singer had purchased eight flats in Andheri for Rs 2.53 crore and had taken loan of Rs 1.5 crore from a bank for the purchase.

Bipasha’s role slashed in Aakrosh but the actress isn’t complaining

It’s never happened to her before. Though once in Phir Hera Pheri, her voice had been dubbed without her permission and she was understandably upset, in her new release Aakrosh, Bipasha Basu’s role has been cut substantially.
And Bipsha is not sulking! In fact she seems quite happy to be in the shadows.
Chuckles the actress, “I knew from the start that my role was comparatively small. But I wanted to be part of this film because I believed in it. When I saw the complete film for the first time with my family and friends earlier this week, I realized my role had been edited out even more. Now I’m hardly there. Important things that I had shot have been removed.”
Naturally Bipasha’s family and friends were disappointed.
Says the actress, “I quickly took charge of the situation in the theatre and told them to watch Aakrosh as an Ajay Devgn film. I told my friends, ‘Hey guys. just enjoy the film for Ajay. Forget I’m there’. Sometimes it’s important to be part of a film that says something important. We live in the cities and half the time we don’t even know what’s going on in the backward areas. We city folks live a blinkered life. As an actor, I am ashamed to say I’m not aware of the world as much as I should be.”
Aakrosh opened Bipasha’s eyes to a reality she didn’t know existed. “Though my role is the blink-and-miss kind, I’ve no regrets about doing it. The greatest of actors do walk-on parts when they believe in a project. Aamir Khan entered Taare Zameen Par at mid-point. And John (Abraham) insisted on being a small part of Sooni Taraporewala’s Little Zizou because it was about football.”

“Latif has been asked in the notice issued by the board to explain how he appeared on the show without the permission of the board as he is a proper employee of the PCB,” the source said.
The source said the board had asked Latif to also explain his comments that the PCB
Yousuf rules out comeback in national team
Pakistan former captain Mohammad Yousuf said he would review his verdict to retire from international cricket only if his elders give him the permission to do this.
Yousuf said current skipper Shahid Afridi had called him up and asked him to make himself available for the national team once again.
Afridi called me up and we spoke at length about the cricket scenario. I told him I took the decision to retire after seeking advice from my elders and I can only take back the retirement decision if my elders give me permission to do this, Yousuf said.
He said Afridi also knew who these elders were and should speak to them directly. Sources said the circle of elders Yousuf was referring to included former captain Inzamam-ul-Haq and some close associates in the religious circles from whom he sought guidance and accompanied on religious preaching tours regularly.

Hustler & Benoit Pics
Nancy Benoit’s estate can proceed with their lawsuit against Hustler Magazine for publishing nude photos of Benoit after she was murdered by her husband, WWE wrestler Chris Benoit, in a murder suicide that also claimed the life of their 7-year-old son, Daniel, according to a ruling by the United States Supreme Court Monday.
Hustler published 20-year-old nude photographs of Nancy Benoit in March 2008 after the deaths gained international attention.
That decision was reversed by the Atlanta based 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in 2009.
“The photographs published by [Flynt] neither relate to the incident of public concern conceptually [the murders] nor correspond with the time period during which Benoit was rendered, against her will, the subject of public scrutiny,” the state court wrote. “Were we to hold otherwise, [Flynt] would be free to publish any nude photograph of almost anyone without their permission, simply because the fact they were caught nude on camera strikes someone as ‘newsworthy.’ Surely that debases the very concept of a right to privacy.”
The magazine, backed by journalists’ groups, said it had a First Amendment right to publish the pictures.
