LAHORE: Police have apprehended a wanted terrorist involved in Sri Lankan team attack Monday.
Qari hails from Waziristan, police said. Police have also recovered explosives from him.
The Sri Lankan cricket team attack took place on March 3, 2009, when a bus carrying Sri Lankan cricketers, part of a larger convoy, was fired upon by about 12 gunmen, near the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
At least half a dozen security personnel were killed and some Sri Lankan players got injuries. Trend Pk

KHUZDAR: Two FC personnel were killed when unknown gunmen opened fire in Khuzdar district, sources said on Friday.
According to police officials, two FC personnel went to a private bank to withdraw their salary when unknown gunmen targeted and shot them.
Security forces have cordoned off the area after incident. SAMAA
Bomb blast kills FC man; injures 8
QUETTA: An official of Frontier Corps (FC) was killed while another eight including 3 more FC personnel were injured when a bomb, planted in a car, went off on Sariab Road here in Quetta on Sunday morning, Geo news reported.
Police sources said the blast took place when an FC vehicle was passing by near Poly Technique College and a bomb planted in a nearby-parked Alto Car exploded.
Also, security forces’ vehicle came under attack, resulting in killing one FC man and rendering eight others wounded, source told media.
Shortly after explosion, rescue efforts kicked off. Two among inured persons were declared critical in condition.
Agencies cordoned off the blast scene with rescue efforts getting underway.
Fire tenders arrived on blast scene as fire, erupted after blast, was fiercely raging with time, witnesses told media.
Now, injured FC men have been admitted to hospital however; one among them succumbed to injuries.

PESHAWAR, News Trends : United Nations on Tuesday closed their offices in Peshawar after series of blasts took place previous day here, A News Trends reported.
On Monday, at least 12 people including eight security personnel were killed and several others injured in three powerful explosions and gunfire erupted near US consulate in Peshawar.

Police officials suspended for mistreating Malik Riaz
LAHORE: SSP Operations Lahore Chaudhry Shafique suspended four constables, a sub-inspector and SHO for allegedly mistreating MNA of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) Malik Riaz after stopping him on a security picket, Geo News reported Tuesday.
Talking to Geo News, SSP Operations Chaudhry Shafique said Malik Riaz was en route to Chief Minister House, when he was stopped him there for 20 minutes and police mistreated him besides searching him.
Taking notice of the incident on Malik Riaz’s complaint, the police personnel were suspended.
Pakistan Day annual parade cancelled
Lahore, Pakistan :- The military parade on 23rd of March known as Pakistan day has been cancelled.
According to sources, more than one hundred thousand military troops are engaged in operation against militants in Swat and Wazirstan, whereas, security situation of the country is also under serious threat. Under these circumstances the annual parade to be held on Pakistan Day would not take place.
The last Pakistan day parade was held in 2007 amid extraordinary security in the sports complex of Islamabad.

Number of Blackwater personnel exceeds cops in Islamabad
UI-F supremo Maulana Fazalur Rehman has said that as many as 9,000 Blackwater personnel were present in the Islamabad, adding that the strength of capital police is 7,000.
Lakki Marwat, Fazal said that destability facing the country was caused by weakening of the democratic government. He prayed that those elements should take over the government who were against abuse of power.
He deplored that Blackwater has unleashed Taliban-like reign of terror in Pakistan.
Blast in Peshawar, 4 killed

PESHAWAR, Pakistan News: At least four people were killed and 10 others wounded on Thursday in a bomb blast in downtown Peshawar.
The blast occurred outside main office of Pakistan International Airline (PIA) in State Life Building – located at Mall Road, the main commercial area of the city.
According to preliminary reports, the blast occurred at a police check post set up outside the PIA office. The deceased also include a policeman, the channel added.
Police and paramedical teams arrived at the scene soon after the blast and rushed the injured and deceased to Lady Reading Hospital. Area has been cordoned off for general public as the law enforcement personnel were collecting evidences from the site.
