Poonam Pandey 200x300 Indian model vows to strip for WCup winMOHALI: Women in India are encouraged to dress modestly at all times, but a brasher side to modern life has been exposed after a popular model vowed to strip naked if the nation wins the cricket World Cup.

Poonam Pandey, 20, who features in a best-selling Indian swimwear calendar, said she wanted to provide an incentive to players by promising them she would bare all – though whether her offer will be welcomed is not known.

“I’m a cricket fanatic and I’m a diehard supporter of my nation. India needs a lot of support and this is my way of supporting the team,” she told several newspapers on Wednesday.

Asked by reporters if she was pulling of a publicity stunt, she replied: “Absolutely not. I’m confident of my body and I’m doing this to excite our boys to play better.”

Pandey received widespread media attention for her pledge, with the Times of India illustrating its story with a colour photograph of her wearing a skimpy bikini.

“Pray for Todays Match that the Boys Play well and make us Proud,” she said on her Twitter page ahead of India’s crunch semi-final game against Pakistan.

Her offer echoes that of Larissa Riquelme, a model who attracted global fame by pledging to run naked through the streets of Paraguay’s capital Asuncion if her country won the 2010 football World Cup.

Paraguay were knocked out by Spain in the quarter-finals and she instead posed nude in front of her national flag. AGENCIES

1a092b4258ate81 nancy salasPolice: Missing woman lied about attending UCLA
Glendale Police say Nancy Salas, 22, went missing yesterday morning as she went for her early morning run. Nancy is known to go jogging each morning in Chevy Chase Canyon. Police say her father called them after his daughter didn’t return. Nancy left her phone, keys and vehicle at her parents’ house before she ventured out.

Sgt. Tom Lorenz with the Glendale Police says Nancy went missing under suspicious circumstances and his department is currently conducting a search of the area. There are helicopters in the air, and bloodhounds on the ground.

Nancy is in her junior year at UCLA, and her family is concerned she fell victim to foul play. She weighs 115 pounds and is about 5 feet tall.
I knew her personally, but apparently, I’ve been in school clubs wit her when I was at UCLA. I pray for her safe return and for God to strengthen her family during this time.
He said her relatives said Salas had no family or boyfriend problems that might have prompted her disappearance.

Her family said Salas was last seen at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday before going on her run. She left her cell phone, keys and car at the family home.

Police, rangers, bloodhounds and a helicopter searched late into the night without success, calling off crews early Thursday. Friends and family, however, continued to walk the streets, passing out flyers with her photograph as detectives combed cell phone and computer records for clues.

She has had no contact with friends or family or through her Facebook account, Lorenz said.

“She’s still without her phone, she’s still without her laptop computer,” he said.

Salas, a fourth-year student and sociology major, was last enrolled at UCLA in fall 2008, according to university registrar’s records.

Big B irked at sudden removal of Abhishek’s AV from World Earth Day event

340ac979ddbgbb1 Big B irked at sudden removal of Abhisheks AV from World Earth Day event

By now its common knowledge that Amitabh Bachchan was engulfed in a controversial situation last week when he attended the opening ceremony of the second phase of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link in Mumbai. Apparently, a certain prominent political party was upset at Bachchan’s presence at this high profile event especially after him promoting Gujarat tourism.

Not one to react unnecessarily to any situation, Big B has maintained a stoic calm even in this situation. However, things took an ugly turn on Saturday when in a strange turn of events, Abhishek Bachchan’s specially recorded AV was removed from the event to create awareness about the World Earth Hour. This has not gone down well with Big B who has openly expressed his displeasure on his blog.

Writes Big B, “You are perhaps aware that Abhishek has been appointed the WWF (World Wildlife Foundation) ambassador for Earth Day, a campaign that has been initiated by WWF for the preservation of the earth. Many ads in the press have been announcing, with his photograph in place, that on the 27th of March let the entire country observe a simple ritual of putting off the electricity in their homes for an hour from 8.30 PM to 9.30 PM. At the India Gate on Rajpath a ceremony is being held today (27 March) to announce the campaign and to make people aware of this most noble cause. An audio visual has been prepared with Abhishek where he is seeking a pledge towards preservation of the Earth and requesting people to switch off their lights for an hour. The Chief Minister of Delhi, Mrs. Sheila Dixit, and a prominent member of the ruling Congress Party, is attending the moment. A few hours before the show was to start apparently the audio visual featuring Abhishek has been asked to be removed and banner posters bearing his photograph as Ambassador have been stopped from being displayed!!

I wonder why?? Abhishek, who has been working so hard on the cause, is obviously disappointed, especially since he had worked late into the night where he was shooting out of town to accommodate this creative!! And I wonder. Am I hallucinating, or is there a pattern in all this!!!??”

Even Junior Bachchan who went all out to promote this Noble cause on the occasion of World Earth Day seemed upset by this move.

Like Big B says, one wonders if this move has been guided by ulterior political motives. Your guess is as good as ours!

Khalil’s younger brother, Shakil, was a jhadi killed by Indian security forces in Kashmir in anti-militancy operation in 1995, a news report has said.

“In 1995 his younger brother, Shakil, was killed fighting for a jihadi militant group in Kashmir,” The Times reported.

According to the report, Khalil welcomed his well wishers in the backdrop of “a photograph of his dead brother, with a Kalashnikov rifle over his shoulder, a camouflage cap on his head and a radio in one hand”.

Printed in Urdu across the photograph were the words ‘Mujahid martyred in Kashmir. Died in Udampur, India, August 25, 1995. Codename Abdullah.’ the report added.

As he spoke, a relative whisked away the photograph of his dead brother.

“He is also a supporter of Jamaat-e-Islami – the Islamist political party – that wants to impose Sharia across Pakistan and to use the Amy to kick India out of Kashmir”, a British daily said.
