Implementation of All Court Verdicts Begins: PM Gilani

RAIWIND, Pakistan News: The breakfast meeting between Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani and Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) chief Mian Mohammed Nawaz Sharif has concluded.

Earlier, PM Gilani was accorded a warm welcome by Sharif Brothers on his arrival in Raiwind. While, Nawaz Sharif son Hussain Nawaz and the senior leader PML-N Ishaq Dar were also present at this occasion.

Also, the meeting was attended by Chief Minister Punjab Mian Mohammed Shahbaz Sharif and other senior leaders of PML-N.

The issues pertaining to current political situation, Charter of Democracy (CoD), repeal of 17th amendment from constitution, accountability bill, good governance, grievances of common men, foreign policy, contacts with US and NATO and resumption of Indo-Pak talks came under discussion during the meeting, sources said.

PM Gilani said that he wanted to stick to the government’s policy of reconciliation, predicting a good news regarding 17th amendment soon, sources told media.

The premier said: “I want to work jointly with PML-N for the supremacy of constitution and strength of democracy in Pakistan.”

During the meeting, Mian Nawaz Sharif urged PM Gilani that government should work sincerely to address the plights of common men.

Government should soon proceed towards the restoration of transparent accountability system as decided in the Charter of Democracy (CoD), Nawaz demanded concrete actions against those who are found guilty of sabotaging law and constitution of Pakistan.

Country Could not Afford Mid-term Polls: PM Gilani

Pakistan News: Admitting flaws in the incumbent government, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said, “ The country do not afford holdong of mid-term polls, adding that, all the outstanding issued would be resolved only if the democratic set up would be continued”.
Addressing a gathering at Aiwan-e-Iqbal, the PM said, “Beauty of democracy lies in difference of opinion, and the future of country depended on the continuation of democracy”. He maintained that all the political parties were united in the country and added that problems did not call for reversal of everything. He said politics was not a film industry where faces change, and added that same faces would come in forefront if the mid-term polls were held. The PM said that it is President’s constitutional right to address the parliament and added that it would be a great injustice to compare a dictator with a democratic government. He noted that reconciliatory politics was Benazir Bhutto’s vision.
He said that good governance meant that the judiciary should dispense justice to the masses and did not mean that the PM should deliver. He asserted that the provincial governments were as much accountable in this regard. The PM noted that terrorism topped all the big challenges facing the country. He hailed the army, saying that the armed forces are extending sacrifices to save future of the country.

Blast in Afghan, 4 killed

KABUL: Afghan officials say four policemen have been killed and four others wounded when their vehicle struck a roadside bomb in southern Afghanistan.

The Afghan Interior Ministry said in a statement Wednesday that the four were killed Tuesday in the Reg district of Kandahar province.

Kandahar province is next to Helmand province where 15,000 U.S., NATO and Afghan troops are in the fifth day of a massive military offensive to wrest control of the town of Marjah from Taliban control.

CJ Iftikhar Meets PM Gilani

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan News: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani received Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry when he reached Prime Minister House on Wednesday to meet him.

Prime Minister Gilani Tuesday invited the Chief Justice for a meeting at PM House.

The notification of judges’ appointment that caused standoff between the government and judiciary might be withdrawn in the meeting, as Gilani yesterday said that the nation will hear a “good news.”

Parliament Must be Honored: PM Gilani

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan News: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani Monday said that parliament is elected by 17 crore people of Pakistan therefore dishonoring it was not fair.

“All the people sitting here are elected; they have not entered from the backdoors. It was the power of masses and the parliament through with the sacked judiciary was restored,” Gilani said while addressing National Assembly session.

He said his government would have no objection if parliament empowers Chief Justice of Pakistan to appointment judges.

“We will not object if the National Assembly itself transfers powers of appointment of judges to the Chief Justice of Pakistan.”

2 Tribesmen killed in Mohmand Region

GHALANAI, Pakistan News: Unknown miscreants killed two tribesmen in Mohmand tribal region on Sunday, while a dead body of a militant with bullet wound found in Bajaur Agency.

Unidentified persons shot dead two tribesmen in Shaheed Banda area of tehsil Pindiali in Mohmand Agency, while the agencies arrested 11 militants from Aseen Qambar area in Khyber Agency.

Rawalpindi, Pakistan News: Prime Minister Syed Youusf Raza Gilani has assured that the country, democracy and institutions are not in danger.
Talking to media in Rawalpindi, the PM said, “I receive the summary sent by the CJ regarding judges’ appointment”, however he noted that “judiciary would decide on the matter”. The PM also admitted that, “Decisions are right but can go wrong at times”. He deplored that it was very wrong to attach some small issues with country’s solidarity, and added that his party always endorsed the pro-judiciary movement and was never against the rule of law. The PM said that the judiciary issue was not like Kashmir issue that could not be resolved ever. Replying to a question, the PM said that the decision regarding the Rental Power Plants (RPPs) has not been reversed, however added that viewpoint could differ on the issue.

Pakistan Has no Expansionist Plans: PM Gilani

KARACHI, Pakistan News: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that Pakistan has no expansionist intentions in the region. Addressing a ceremony regarding the inclusion of PNS Shamsher in Pak Navy, the Premier said that Pakistan was doing more than its capabilities to eliminate the anti-peace powers in the world. The PM observed that self-sufficiency in arms production was the need of hour and vowed to provide the army with modern equipment despite the economic crunch. He noted that Pakistan, China ties were very deep and based on mutual trust, and added that the inclusion of PNS Shamsher would further boost the ties. Speaking on the occasion, Admiral Nauman said that F22P Frigate has been prepared in view of the Pak Navy’s requirements, while the third frigate was being prepared. Earlier, the PM was given Guard of Honour by the Navy personnel.

Islamabad, Pakistan News: Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani said that there was no confrontation among institutions.
Talking to media in Islamabad, “We have come to power for 5 years, so tolerate us.” He said that opposition parties use different tactics and give statements to remain alive in politics.
He said that judges’ appointments would be held with consultation and consensus. He vowed to provide free education till primary classes and the new education policy would be launched after consultation with provincial governments.

Pakistan News: Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has said that the situation of Karachi would soon be normal. We all are trying to improve the situation in Karachi. System and Democracy is in no danger. Media, Courts and Executives are all working properly. NAB has been instructed to reopen Swiss Cases.
PM was addressing the National Assembly where he also said that I am representative of the Federation and the every part of Pakistan is equally important to me. He said that the case of the former Attorney General is pending for review in the Supreme Court. He said that he would fight till the very end to increase the powers of the Parliament. We are implementing the decision of the Supreme Court. I have even promoted the judge who sentenced me.
PM also said that office and power is temporary, he mainly wants to maintain relations with democratic forces. President Zardari has been given immunity by the Parliament.
