Youth run over by police mobile in Multan

MULTAN: A Youngman was killed as a speedy police mobile ran over him at Masoom Road in Multan city on Sunday, TrendPK reports.
The incident triggered enraged people to pelt the vehicle with stones, smashing its windowpanes.
Reports said the Asif was on its way in a market place at Masoom Road when a patrolling police mobile, carrying three constables, ran over him, leaving him dead on the spot.
The cops managed to flee as area people gathered at the site and severely protested against the law enforcers, chanting slogans and pelting the vehicle with stones. TrendPK

KARACHI: Eid Milad-un-Nabi (Peace Be Upon Him) is being celebrated across the country on Sunday with great reverence and religious zeal, TrendPK reports.
The nation, on the day, pledges to follow the definite teachings of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) and observe restrain and tolerance while acting upon the Quran and Sunnah in the entire life.
It’s a public holiday today.
Special security arrangements have be made to maintain law and order across the country on the occasion of 12th Rabi-ul-Awal.
Rallies, conferences and other special programs are being arranged by religious parties in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and other cities, with TV channels and radio stations arranging especial transition on the day.
A rally was taken out in Lahore from Data Darbar to Regal Chowk, participated by the people from every walks of life, with some riding bedecked horses and camels, carrying green flags in hands.
Similar processions are also due to be held in Karachi and other cities on Sunday in connection with observance of the holy day.
On the other hand, the day (February 5) is also being observed as Kashmir Solidarity Day with zeal and fervor to reiterate complete solidarity with the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir in their indigenous struggle for attaining the right of self determination and liberation of their motherland from Indian yoke. Several rounded up in Orangi operation

KARACHI: A number of suspects have been taken under arrest amid a joint search operation carried out by police and rangers in separate areas of Orangi Town on late Saturday, TrendPK reported.
During the operation, all the entry and exit points of Orangi Town remained cordoned off under the security of police and rangers.
Sources said that area women staged protest against operation and arrests.
Law enforcement agencies’ sources said arrested suspects have been transferred to unknown location for interrogation.
Meanwhile, at least 10 women have been reportedly injured in firing from security forces and the subsequent stampede.

Karachi: 20 arrested in Rangers search operation
After a firefight between two gangs in Orangi Town that left three people dead, a limited scale search operation was conducted in the area.
Heavy contingents of Rangers cordoned off Sector C-1 of Orangio Town and conducted a door-to-door search operation.
The Rangers authorities said that the purpose of the operation was to recover illegal weapons that were being used in gang wars.
The Ranger abandoned the operation after arresting 20 suspects.
The locals protested against the operation and chanted slogans as well.
The violent mob attacked a police mobile van and not only damaged the van but also tortured four policemen.
Meanwhile, East district police arrested a political party activist, Hikmat Khan.

KARACHI: Due to the constant target killings, for about last two years the pillion riding is continuously banned in the city but the police of the metropolis allow you to carry on pillion riding if you please them with bribe.
SAMAA has got an eye opening footage of the city which shows it very clearly that a police mobile stopped two young boys who were violation the pillion riding ban without any fear. A police mobile interrupts them for breaking the law but in mere few moments allows them, without any checking, to carry on their illegal ride after receiving just Rs 100 as a bribe.

Two hurt in Karachi group clashes
KARACHI: At least two persons suffered injuries when armed groups clashed in Gardan Town locality here on Friday morning, Geo News reported.
Armed men belonging to two political groups had an argument over a trivial matter, which turned into fierce clashes, involving heavy gunbattle, police said.
Two persons, identified as Arif and Suleman, were injured after exchange of fire, who have been immediately rushed to hospital for medication.
Clashes sparked enough tension and panic to early closure of shops and other businesses in town.
Heavy contingents from police and rangers have arrived to maintain the law and order situation while police claimed to have arrested two suspects accused of having links with incidents.
Blast heard in PIA plane at airport
KARACHI: A loud blast has been heard in an engine of PIA’s flight PK-747, a bowing commercial plane, when the airliner was preparing to take off at Jinnah International Airport.
Engine caught fire following blast as the fire and smoke is seen emitting from engine.
Explosion was reportedly happened when one of the engines suddenly started running in reverse, eyewitnesses said.
The flight was bound to Islamabad from Karachi meanwhile rescue vehicles and police mobile vans have arrived near plane to determine the loss of life or goods if happened.
PIA engineers said they will issue clearance after a thorough review of plane condition for operation of a flight.
Police, rangers conduct search operation in Rabia City
KARACHI: Police and rangers have kicked off a joint search operation in Gilistan-e-Johar and Rabia City localities late on Saturday with a view to round up miscreants allegedly hiding in the areas, Geo News reported.
Heavy contingents of police and rangers have surrounded both areas and the massive search operation is underway, sources said.
Meanwhile, streetlights and floodlights have been turned off to send people an indication to remain alert about an activity being carried out by security forces, witnesses told media.
It may be mentioned that tension has gripped two places for some days following an ambush on an office of a political party, which in turn, left one activist killed and another four seriously wounded.
After the shootout incidents in those areas, many garments’ shops, timber market, busses and police mobile vans were set ablaze by infuriated mob.
The escalating tension has, in the long run, prompted forces to launch a search operation.
Tense situation persists in parts of Karachi; six dead
KARACHI: Six men were killed and as many sustained injuries in separate incidents of firing and violence in various parts of the metropolis during the past 24 hours.
Tension persists in the city as unknown miscreants torched 5 busses including a police mobile van besides a number of shops.
The fresh wave of violence began when last night when unknown armed men opened fire on an office of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, killing one party worker and injuring five others.
Following the incident, enraged people took to the streets and set on fire 5 busses, a police mobile van, two other vehicles, timber market, furniture market, tea outlets and two carpet shops besides a many roadside stalls and pushcarts.
In other incidents of violence, two people were killed in Gulistan-e-Jauhar while three were killed in Hussainabad, Gharibabad and Abul Hasan Ispahani Road.
Incidents of heavy firing continue in different parts of the city including Gulistan-e-Jauhar, confining people to their houses.
According to an estimate, in the past one-month alone 68 people lost their lives in incidents of targeted killings. Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Malir and Surjani Town remained highly tensed as a result of these incidents.
Police has so far failed to get any major success in preventing the targeted killings in the city.
