To decide about the 30 men for the preliminary world cup squad a meeting was held today but according to information there is no result of the meeting. PCB is not able to decide about the final 30 name that has to be announce as preliminary world cup squad. A meeting held at the head quarter at Lahore but it was decided that 30 men name will be announced on later dates.

19th December is the deadline given by ICC for the preliminary world cup squad. There are some reports that PCB is consulting to add Shoaib Malikh, Kamran Akmal and Danish Keneria name in the 30 men list. There are some reports that Board is also seeking clearance of these three players.

The statement issued by PCB stated that in the meeting different issues were discussed and it was decided that ODI team for New Zealand tour and for the world cup will be announce on later dates. Three main players Asif, Aamir and Salman Butt will definitely be not a part of world cup squad as they are suspended by ICC.

Kamran Akmal, Danish Kaneria, Shoaib Malik and Rana Naved matter was also highlighted in the meeting. A source said that there is no justification that for dropping these experienced players. Chief selector, Mohsin Khan said that PCB clearance is necessary for player selection.

Taliban, Karzai hold secret talks to end war

WASHINGTON: Representatives of the Taliban and President Hamid Karzai’s government have started secret talks to negotiate an end to the war in Afghanistan, the Washington Post reported on Tuesday, citing Afghan and Arab sources.

The sources, who were not named by the Post, were quoted as saying they believe the Taliban representatives are authorized to speak for the Quetta Shura, the Afghan Taliban organization based in Pakistan, and its leader, Mohammad Omar.

The sources quoted by the Post stressed that the current discussions are in the preliminary stages. The newspaper said the talks followed inconclusive meetings hosted by Saudi Arabia that wrapped up more than a year ago.

Karzai’s spokesman Waheed Omer, speaking in Kabul, declined to confirm or deny the report of new meetings.

Police hunts for two suspects over Imran Farooq’s murder

LONDON: A British newspapers claimed that detectives probing the death of MQM leader, Dr. Imran Farooq, are hunting for two murderers, SAMAA learnt Monday.

The paper further said that he was stabbed repeatedly before being hit on the head with bricks.

British Newspaper ‘Daily Mirror’ claimed in its report with reference to Scotland Yard’s investigation, that some political motives might be involved in Imran Farooq’s murder.

“He was killed by more than one person, who are being hunted,” report said.

The British newspaper claimed that he was hit on the head with bricks. Earlier, the preliminary report said that his death was caused by the wound on his head.

MQM leader Dr. Imran Farooq was stabbed to death in Mill Hills, London late Thursday night.

Strategy ready to tackle target killings in Karachi

KARACHI: The intelligence agencies have hammered out strategy to cope with the target killing spree underway in the city, Geo News reported Wednesday.

According to sources, a list of 300 people detrimental to the peace in the city, has been compiled. These 300 people have weapons in huge quantity.

LAHORE: Casualties are feared in a firing incident at Lahore Session Court, Geo News reported Wednesday.

The firing triggered panic among people present there, who saved their lives by running to safe places.

According to Geo News correspondent, miscreants threw hand grenades after the gunshots were fired, resulting into the death of a lawyer. The reports on the death are still unconfirmed.

The saboteurs attacked to get free their friend, an accused who was scheduled to make an appearance before the session court today.

At least four to five people launched this attack at Lahore session court premises.

LAHORE: At least two people were killed in a firing incident at Lahore Session Court followed by grenade attack, Geo News reported Wednesday.

The saboteurs attacked the police personnel to get free their friend, an accused who was scheduled to make an appearance before the session court today.

At least four to five people launched this attack at Lahore session court premises.

According to Geo News correspondent, miscreants threw hand grenades after the gunshots were fired, resulting into the death of a lawyer. An attacker also was killed when the attack was retaliated.

The firing triggered panic among people present there, who saved their lives by running to safe places.

According to a witness, at least three hand grenades were flung at the court. Police recovered various magazines of bullets and hand grenade, which were neutralized by Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS).

According to the preliminary reports, at least three people were injured in the incident.

The roads around the session court have been blocked.
