Green shirts sale bumped up in Karachi

The official Pakistan cricket team shirts have become a hotcake in Karachi as people want to have them before the Pakistan versus India semi-final clash on Wednesday in Mohali.

The green shirts have gone out of stock and the shopkeepers are charging higher prices for them. Meanwhile, young men took out a motorcycle rally to express their solidarity with the team and chanted slogans in favour of the team and players.

People from every walk of life expressed their excitement for the match and said that they were anticipating a Pakistani victory in the semi-final against India.

Inflation up by 22pc: SPI

Weekly inflation up by 22 percent during the week ended on Dec 23.

According to Sensitive Price Index (SPI), the inflation showed an increase of 0.48pc as copared to the last week ended on Dec 15. The prices of tomatoes surged by 14 percent and reached 80 per kilogram which was four times high as compare with corresponding period of the last year. The prices of onion also showed an increase of 150 percent as compared with the last year. Egg prices closed at 88.44 per dozen.
A nominal decrease was observed in the prices of sugar and potato, while meat and beef prices remained unchanged.

OGRA announces to maintain POL prices

OGRA has decided to keep the prices of petroleum products at the earlier rates.

In a press conference in Islamabad, Executive Director OGRA Saeed Jawad said that prices of petrol, HOBC, High Speed Diesel, Light Diesel and kerosene oil would not be changed. While jet fuel price has been raised from 14 paisa per liter to Rs 1.14 per liter. In the month of December, petrol would be sold at Rs 72.96/liter, HOBC at Rs 86.67/liter, High Speed Diesel at Rs 78.33/liter, light diesel oil at Rs 66.61/liter and kerosene oil would be available at Rs 70.95.

OGRA announces to keep petroleum products prices unchanged

ISLAMABAD: The prices of petroleum products are not being changed and they all will be sold on the same existing prices during next month, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced it on Tuesday night.

Earlier, it was informed and feared that the concerned authorities had decided to increase petrol price by Rs. 2.17 per liter and diesel price by Rs. 2.50 per liter.

OGRA’s announcement, to keep the prices of petroleum products unchanged, have proven all fears of price hike wrong and people have taken the sigh of relief. Trend Pk

Govt. decides to increase petroleum products prices at midnight

ISLAMABAD: The government has in principle decided to increase the prices of petroleum products in the up coming monthly price review on Tuesday (today).

According to sources, the concerned authorities have decided to increase petrol price by Rs. 2.17 per liter and diesel price by Rs. 2.50 per liter.

After the official announcement, these new increased prices of the petroleum products will be charged from midnight (00.00am) today. Trend Pk

ISLAMABAD: After an increase in the prices of oils, there is a chance of an increase in the prices of petroleum products from Rs. 1.50 to Rs. 3.50 from December 1, 2010.

According to OGRA sources, there is a chance of an increase in the price of high speed diesel by Rs. 2.50 and petroleum by Rs. 1.50. There may also be an increase in light diesel by Rs. 2, and kerosene oil and HOBC by Rs. 1.50 per liter. Trend Pk

Shopkeepers refuse to sell sugar at Rs.72/kg in Lahore

LAHORE: Defying the Punjab government’s orders, a vast majority of shopkeepers in Lahore refused to sell sugar at the fixed price of Rs.72 per kilogram.

Shopkeepers say they still have to sell the old stock of sugar, which was purchased at a higher rate.

Under these circumstances, most of the shopkeepers have either hoarded the sugar or selling it at higher prices between Rs.80 to Rs.100 per kilogram.

On the other hand, Lahore’s district coordination officer Ahmed Cheema said that arrangements have been finalized to crackdown on the shopkeepers refusing to sell sugar at the fixed price.

He said the government would not allow the shopkeepers to overcharge the consumers. Trend Pk
