Royal bride’s dress designer finally unveiled

LONDON: Royal bride Kate Middleton’s wedding dress was designed by Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Burton, ending months of fevered speculation in the fashion world over who would create one of the most talked-about outfits of the decade.
The dress featured a hand-made lace applique over an ivory-coloured bodice and skirt, made of silk and satin.
The identity of the designer and details of the dress were kept a closely guarded secret by St. James’s Palace throughout the build-up to Middleton’s wedding to Britain’s Prince William.
A special marquee was erected outside the entrance to Middleton’s London hotel to prevent anyone getting an early glimpse of the dress before she stepped out of her car outside the abbey.
Newspapers and websites around the world have run several “scoops” identifying the designer, but none were ever confirmed.
Names put forward in articles and blog postings have included Bruce Oldfield and Sophie Cranston of the Libelula label.
The fashion world has taken a close interest in 29-year-old Middleton’s clothes choices in recent months, with industry insiders predicting that she could have a huge influence on high street sales.
Endless comparisons have been made between Middleton and William’s late mother Princess Diana, a style icon by the time of her death in 1997 aged 36.
Middleton’s dress differed radically from that of Diana at her wedding to Prince Charles in 1981, a frilly, flouncy cream number designed by Elizabeth Emanuel which reflected the times in which it appeared.
Before Friday’s wedding, Emanuel told Reuters that Middleton was older and more assured in terms of fashion than the shy 20-year-old Diana, and so was likely to know better what she wanted for the big day.
“With Diana she was very young, when we were introduced to her and fashion was not one of her big interests so she didn’t really have her own sense of style,” Emanuel said.

LONDON: Britain’s Prince William and Kate Middleton married at Westminster Abbey on Friday in a royal occasion of dazzling pomp and pageantry that has attracted a huge global audience and injected new life into the monarchy.
Before the vows, a veiled Middleton, the first “commoner” to marry a prince in close proximity to the throne in more than 350 years, walked slowly through the 1,900 strong congregation to the swirling strains of Charles Parry’s “I Was Glad”.
As they met at the altar William whispered to her, prompting a smile at the start of the ceremony. The Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams declared the couple married with the words: “I pronounce that they be man and wife together.”
Middleton’s dress, the subject of fevered speculation for months in the fashion press, was a traditional ivory silk and satin outfit with a lace applique and long train.
She wore a tiara loaned by the queen and the diamond and sapphire engagement ring that once belonged to William’s mother Princess Diana, who was divorced from Prince Charles in 1996, a year before her death in a car crash in Paris aged just 36. Bells pealed loudly and trumpets blared as 1,900 guests earlier poured into the historic abbey, coronation site for the monarchy since William the Conqueror was crowned in 1066.
Queen Elizabeth, other royals, David and Victoria Beckham, the footballer-pop star couple, singer Elton John and Prime Minister David Cameron were among famous guests at the abbey.
They joined 50 heads of state as well as charity workers and war veterans who know the prince from his military training.
HUGE CROWDS
Thousands of people from around the world were outside the abbey, many of them camping overnight for the best view of the future king and queen and fuelling the feel good factor that has briefly lifted Britain from its economic gloom.
“People watching this at home must think we’re completely mad, but there’s just no comparison,” said 58-year-old Denise Mill from southern England. “Ijust had to be here.”
The crowd entered into the festive spirit on a chilly day by wearing national flags and even fake wedding dresses and tiaras. Hundreds of police officers, some armed, dotted the royal routes in a major security operation.
Tens of thousands more people crammed the flag-lined streets of London to catch a glimpse of marching military bands in black bearskin hats, cavalrymen in shining breastplates and ornate carriages that will carry royal figures from the service.
A large gathering is expected outside the queen’s London residence, Buckingham Palace, to cheer on the married couple as they appear on the balcony for a much anticipated public kiss.
For some, however, the biggest royal wedding since Diana married Prince Charles in 1981 was an event to avoid, reflecting divided opinion about the monarchy.
“It’s just a wedding,” said 25-year-old Ivan Smith. “Everyone is going mad about it. I couldn’t care less.” AGENCIES

McDonald’s recall Shrek Glass.It seems that McDonald’s found that Shrek Glasses are painted with a toxic metal.Over 12 million of Shrek Glass are recalled by McDonald’s.The hamburger chain McDonald’s on Friday called on consumers to stop using and, if possible, return 12 million glasses decorated with the faces of the characters of the cartoon Shrek, because painting is cadmium, which implies a risk for health.
Safety Commission Consumer Product, “in cooperation” with McDonald’s, announced through a statement that “the so-called volunteer” to return the glasses Shrek. “Consumers should stop using” vessels, he warned.
These vessels, made in America, were sold by McDonald’s as part of the film premiere of the new episode of the Shrek saga between May and June. They were sold in restaurants in the chain to two dollars apiece. McDonald’s said that the vessels were not marketed in Europe.
They are involved in this case the glasses decorated with the figure of the ogre Shrek, and the other three models in the library with the main characters of the cartoon of DreamWorks: Princess Fiona, Puss in Boots and Donkey.
McDonald’s told the Associated Press that it was asking customers to stop using the glasses “out of an abundance of caution.”
“We believe the ‘Shrek’ glassware is safe for consumer use,” McDonald’s USA spokesman Bill Whitman said. “However, again to ensure that our customers receive safe products from us, we made the decision to stop selling them and voluntarily recall these products effective immediately.”
t is thought that the Shrek-themed glasses recalled feature a painted design, apparently this painted design contains traces of Cadmium, long-term exposure to Cadmium has previously been linked to kidney problems and bone softening.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the voluntary recall Friday. It warned consumers to immediately stop using the glasses.
There are four different designs to look out for, they all promote the upcoming movie “Shrek Forever After”, designs include paintings of Donkey, Puss in Boots, Shrek and Princess Fiona.
A Toxic chemical has been discovered on the newly created $2 glasses. McDonald’s have already sold around 12 million Shrek Themed glasses which has announced for Recall.
Ashutosh Gowariker’s magnum-opus Buddha to have an all international crew
Even before his next film Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey releases, Ashutosh Gowariker has already moved on to his big budget project Buddha. Produced by Dr.Bhupendra Kumar Modi and directed by Gowariker, Buddha tells the journey of Gautam Buddha right from when he was known as Prince Siddhartha to his moment of enlightenment when he became Buddha. While the hunt for the actor who will play the lead role is still on, it’s quite interesting to note that the film will primarily have an all-international crew except production designer Nitin Chandrakant Desai who has worked with Gowariker on most of his films.

The past two months of pre-production have been exciting.

The movies that these people have worked on are ones that I have admired and seen over and over again. So, I feel privileged to be working with them on Buddha.
This is the first time that I have done pre-visualisation for a film. It has been an amazing learning curve to be working with Jarrod Linton who is the pre-viz supervisor on the film.

As for the lead actor, Gowariker says, “The search for the actor to play Buddha continues. I am going through the hundreds of auditions that have come in and I must say, we are getting closer to our Buddha.”

Swedish princess Madeleine breaks off engagement Swedish Royal Court says Princess Madeleine has broken off her engagement with fiance Jonas Bergstrom.
In a statement from the Royal Court in Stockholm on Saturday, the couple is described as “going separate ways” and that they together have decided that that is the best for them.
Madeleine Therese Amelie Josephine – the Princess of Sweden, Duchess of Halsingland and Gastrikland – is the youngest child of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia.
She has two older siblings, Crown Princess Victoria who is getting married to her fiance Daniel Westling in June and Prince Carl Philip

Christmas Parade or Disney Christmas Parade 2009 updates :- 26th annual “Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade” (ABC, 10 a.m.) this morning. Also performing are Stevie Wonder, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez and Yanni. The newest Disney Princess, Anika Noni Rose, of Bloonfield, who voices Tiana in the current big screen offering, “The Princess and the Frog,” joins the ranks of Mickey Mouse and usual gang of Disney characters (which now includes Phineas and Ferb. Kelly Ripa hosts in Orlando; Ryan Seacrest takes the helm on the West Coast and Nick Cannon also appears.
At the same time at Disney Christmas Parade 2009, the aforementioned legend Stevie Wonder will perform his very own holiday song, “What Christmas Means to Me.” Yanni will bring his Yanni Voices to perform a reverent arrangement of “O Holy Night” featuring Nathan Pacheco.
American Idol winner Kris Allen will perform “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.” There appears to be no sign of runner-up and favorite Adam Lambert at Disney Christmas Parade 2009. Small wonder, based on his recent controversial appearances, which would not be Disney-friendly.
For Disney Channel fans, Disney Christmas Parade 2009 will have one of the channel’s biggest stars, or rather, group of stars. Jonas Brothers will perform. So will Selena Gomez from the Disney show “The Wizards of Waverly Place.”
Also at Disney Christmas Parade 2009 will be Tony Award winner Anika Noni Rose. She is also the voice of Princess Tiana from the new Walt Disney Pictures animated feature film, The Princess and the Frog.
Also appearing will be “Sonny with a Chance” star Demi Lovato. In a somewhat advertising-based appearance, Travel Channel host Samantha Brown will appear from Disney Cruise Line, aboard the Disney Wonder cruise ship, during the Disney Christmas Parade 2009.
Naturally, there will also be plenty of non-humans at the Disney Christmas Parade 2009. Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Donald Duck and Goofy, among plenty of other Disney characters, will appear.

He comes face to face with Alisha again and we see that he still loves her, the same as he always did. Abhay is the kind of person who has no confidence in himself and is a shy and reticent person yet at the same time he is so full of love for Alisha that he is willing to live the rest of his life loving a person who he knows he will never be with.
ALISHA (Priyanka Chopra):
Alisha is a vivacious, sexy girl who everyone loves in college. The free spirit that she is, doing what she likes, she sometimes goes overboard with it. We first meet her in University and then years later, after college, when life has taught her some lessons and made her more mature. But somewhere behind that maturity she is the same bumbling, crazy girl she used to be, with the same free spirit.

‘Princess and the Frog’ No. 1 at the box office

“The Princess and the Frog’’ earned a big wet kiss from audiences as the Disney animated musical leaped to No. 1 with $25 million in its first weekend of nationwide release, according to studio estimates.
