All business activities back to routine after Eid holidays

LAHORE: After Eid-ul-Adha’s holidays, all business activities have returned to the regular routine throughout the country on Monday.

All public and private schools, offices, markets and other institutes are open.

A vast majority of those who returned to their native homes to celebrate Eid with their families have returned to their respective cities.

Activities in Lahore, Karachi and all other prominent cities have re-started and traffic on the roads is as per normal. Trend Pk

Tokyo: With the support of Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) and National Association of Commercial Broadcasters in Japan (NAB-J), the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association (JEITA) has hosted the Inter BEE 2010 – an audio-video and communications broadcasting equipment exhibition at Makuhari Messe from November 17 to 19, 2010.

Currently in its 46th edition, Inter Bee has achieved remarkable success, in its role as a promoter of broadcasting technology. This year, in addition to traditional broadcasting, Inter BEE displayed a comprehensive selection of exhibits that provided an overview of a wide range of technological fields such as communications, IT, audio and lighting.

Here are the key highlights of the event:

The Tutorial Session: Targeting young people in the industry and students, instructors actively working in the video and audio domains help to nurture competent technicians in the workplace by imparting knowledge about equipment and system use, and contents creation techniques.

The Technical Report Conference on Commercial Broadcasting: An annual event that has been in place since the inauguration of Inter BEE. Front-line experts in the field of commercial TV discuss the constantly changing state of and problems facing commercial TV. This provides a valuable opportunity to learn about the course and direction of future broadcasting.

IPTV, Mobile TV, Crossmedia Zone: Here, people gather under one roof to see the latest IPTV services, and create a place to check-up on post-digitization mobile TV business. In addition to this, adopting a theme of digital signage, digital cinema and 3D images, a pavilion exhibition is kept where one can experience the possibilities and technological advancements of new media.

On the sidelines of Inter BEE, TBS Digicon6 also hosted an ‘Asia Contents Forum’ where the winners of respective countries showcased their work and key notes were delivered from the prominent film makers and directors of Asian countries.

Malik denies presence of Blackwater

LAHORE: Interior Minister Rehman Malik says that he is prepared to take action within 24 hours if given evidence about allegations of Blackwater operating in the country.

He was speaking to the media after holding a meeting with Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Munawar Hasan, Qazi Hussain Ahmed and other prominent leaders at Mansoora in Lahore today (Friday).

“There is no presence of Blackwater or any other foreign agency in the country,” he reiterated, adding that action will be taken within 24 hours if provided with evidence in this regard.

Malik said that no compromise will be made on the country’s sovereignty.

About his meeting with JI leaders, he said that the overall law and order situation came under discussion.

Painter Allah Buksh’s 32nd death anniversary today

KARACHI: Today marks the 32nd death anniversary of painter Allah Buksh. He was one of the prominent artists of pre-partition. He painted popular scenes of Hindu Mythology. He maintained his own distinctive, romantic style, and painted Pakistan folk stories such as HeerRanjha, SohniMahiwal and different festivals and seasons. He died on October 18, 1978.

He was born in Wazirabad in 1885. By the age fourteen Buksh had become an accomplished signboard painter. He worked as a carriage painter for Mughalpura Railway and as a scene painter for Agha Hasher Kashmiri’s theatrical company.

In 1914 he went to Bombay, where he was employed as a photographer, retouch artist and portrait and landscape painter at the Bombay Art Studio. After returning to Lahore in 1919, he became a fine art painter who supported himself as a commercial artist.

KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is all set to take out a rally on Monday evening to recall blast incident of October 18 which claimed hundreds of lives and injured scores of others on the return of the then Chairperson of PPP Benazir Bhutto.

Benazir Bhutto arrived in Karachi on October 18, 2007 and ended her nine year long self imposed exile to take active part in the Pakistani political arena once again.

Millions of PPP workers and loyalists received her warmly at Karachi airport and started to take her, along with other prominent leaders of the party, in a specially made truck towards Bilawal House in a miles long, slowly moving procession.

After many hours, the procession reached near Karsaz area where a deadly suicide attack was launched on the truck.

After Big B announced the commencement of the popular show Kaun Banega Crorepati, it’s now time for none other than Salman Khan. Sallu will soon be seen hosting season 4 of the popular reality show Bigg Boss.

For some time now, there has been quite a lot of speculation whether King Khan AKA Shahrukh Khan will be the host; however, all rumours have been put to rest with Sallu being nominated as the host for the show. Police have also closed down for traffic, the Jamsheed Road stretched from Guru Mandir to Jail Chowrangi owing to security arrangements, besides deployment of heavy contingents of police and rangers, police sources said.
