Army continue rescue, relief operation in flood-hit Kohistan: ISPR

KOHISTAN: Rescue and relief operation is under way in flood-hit Kohistan, where dozens of people were killed in recent days, military says.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), 242 patients were given medical help in the flood-affected valley today.

Pak army distributed camps, blankets, dry ration and other essential items to the flood victims.

Half of US will be obese by 2030: Report

 As the obesity epidemic continues to escalate, a new study projects that half of the US will be obese by 2030 unless measures to stifle, monitor and prevent obesity are adopted into public policy.

Currently, one in three American adults is obese, with 99 million cases reported. According to a new study published in a US magazine, obesity is projected to include half of the US population by 2030 if current trends continue.

While forecasts show that obesity is on the rise, researchers from Columbia University used data from the past four decades with qualitative trends taken into account.

The study showed that 164 million Americans will be obese within the next two decades along with an additional 8 million cases of diabetes, 6.8 million cases of heart disease and stroke, and a half-million cases of cancer to be reported.

 ”At the rate we re looking at right now, it s a dire prediction,” told Claire Wang, of Columbia University.

Kardashian is now suing Old Navy for an estimated $15 – $20 million, she is suing the retail giant alleging that model Melissa Molinaro’s work for Old Navy is damaging to her public image. Kardashian is claiming the ad was an

“unauthorized use of Kardashian’s name, likeness, identity and persona.”

And perhaps another reason why Kim Kardashian has become so hot and bothered about Molinaro is that not only does she bear an uncanny resemblance to Kim, Molinaro is currently dating Kim’s ex-boyfriend, Reggie Bush.

Molinaro can’t exactly help that she happens to look remarkably like Kim Kardashian, her latest response to the matter has been via Twitter, she wrote;

“We’re still talking about this?! It’s JULY this aired in February…some people have too much time on there sic hands,”

Although to be clear Kim has not actually mentioned Molinaro in the suit.

According to ISPR, the missile can strike a target at a distance of 350 kilometers.

The cruise missile was launched from a platform set up in the air.

The decision of the court was in the context that cricket officials working in private capacity but they have to work for the public interest and they are public servant so they should take decision in public interest.

The case was started on 3rd January and after the adjournment of hearing for three weeks the panel of two judges comprising of Justice VS Sirpurkar and TS Thakur rejected all appeals KCA president, TR Balakrishanan, and secretary, TC Matthew. They have filed an appeal against the high court decision but in the latest decision judges declared the high court decision as ‘beautifully crafted judgement’.

It is also said that honest people didn’t come to work in the sports organization and when a decision is made against the odds then they go for appeal. The original appeal was filed Vigilance Court two years ago by Balaji Iyengar. In the decision of the case it was decided that cricket associations are not public servants. The decision was challenged in high court by Iyengar. After the latest decision Iyengar said now the associations will be answerable to people and this is beginning or new era.

PAC orders report on Rs.14 billion relief funds

It has been learnt during a session of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) that Rs.14.25 billion of foreign aid have bot been used. The committee ordered a report on the matter.

Audit officials, while briefing PAC, said that only Rs. 7.60 billion have been used out of Rs. 21.84 billion pf the aggregate foreign aid. Officials of the economic affairs division said that WAPDA, NHA, Pakistan Railways and other public sector organizations could not use the foreign aid on account of having inadequate capability of using it.

Member of the committee Yasmin Rehman said that on one hand foreign aid is being wasted due to negligence and on the other hand fresh loans are being taken. PAC directed the concerned officials to submit report on the issue in a period of one month.
