Blast in Dir Bala, 3 Children Die
Pakistan News: As many as three children of a family died as a bomb detonated outside their ho use in Nangarkari, Dir Bala on Wednesday.
The deceased include two brothers and their one cousin, who went outside to graze their goats when the bomb planted outside their house went off. Resultantly, the trio died on the spot.

Punjab Cabinet Passes LB Amendment Bill
Lahore, Pakistan News: Punjab Cabinet has ratified the appointment of administrators in Local Bodies system on Wednesday.
The amendments in the Local Government Bill have been passed during a meeting, which was presided over by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif at CM House in Lahore.
Talking to media after attending the meeting, Provincial Minister Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor said that the cabinet has also approved holding of LBs polls.
After getting it approved from the Provincial Assembly, Punjab Government would be entitled to appoint administrators on provincial level. Law Minister Rana Sanaullah has told the media that directives have been passed to form Election Authority for holding of local bodies’ polls, adding that the chairman of the said Authority would either be a Supreme Court’s judge or anyone having the same capabilities. He noted that number of Election Authority members has been increased to 4. He also divulged that LG polls would be held within six months.

Operation in Kurram, 2 Militants killed
PARACHINAR, Pakistan News: Two militants were killed, two injured and three arrested in a search operation in Kurram tribal region on Wednesday.
In Khyber Agency the forces have arrested nine militants, destroyed six hideouts and three explosives packed vehicles.
Jet fighters and gunship helicopters were also targeting the suspected hideouts of the miscreants in central region of the Kurram Agency.

LAHORE, Pakistan News: Justice Asif Saeed Khosa of Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday refused to hear a petition about NRO beneficiaries and returned the case to the Chief Justice of LHC.
Barrister Javed Jaffrey had filed the petition, stating that NRO beneficiaries had been accused of looting national wealth, pleaded to declare the beneficiaries of the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) disqualified from contesting elections or holding any public office. In petition 16 prominent political leaders were made party.

President Zardari Convenes Meeting of Punjab Cabinet’s PPP Ministers
Pakistan News: President Asif Ali Zardari has convened a meeting of Punjab Cabinet’s ministers of Pakistan People’s Party tonight.
In a meeting to be held at Presidential House Islamabad, PPP senior minister Raja Riaz, Tanveer Ashraf Kaira, Farooq Yousaf Ghurki, Ashraf Sohna, Haji Muhammad Ishaq, Neelam Jabbar and Dr Tanveer-ul-Islam will participate. Punjab Finance Minister Tanveer Ashraf Kaira will brief president about the NFC award. Senior minister Raja Riaz will inform President about the problems faced by PPP in working relationship with PML-N.

Supreme Court Expels Petitions in PCO Judges Case
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan expelled petitions regarding judges’ case affected by July 31 verdict, after completing the hearing of maintainability of the appeals.
A 14-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammed Chaudhry heard the case of petitions of former judges of the higher judiciary. The counsels of former judges completed their arguments on the maintainability of their petitions.
The SC has accepted the unconditional apology by PCO judges.
Later talking to newsmen, lawyer of the former Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar, Ahmed Raza Qasuri said that a review petition would be filed within two weeks.

Vice-president JWP gunned down in Quetta
QUETTA, Pakistan : Vice President Jamhoori Watan Party Dr Aslam Mirza and his driver were gunned down in Akhtarabad, a locality of Quetta here on Tuesday.
According to Police, his diver also lost his life during the ambush while police said the incident took place as he was on his way to home through Akhterabad of Shaal Kot area when unknown armed militants opened fire on him, killing him two on the spot.
The unidentified miscreants succeeded to flee the crime scene, police sources added.
Following the tragedy, police arrived on the scene and shifted dead bodies to Bolan Medical Complex while the murder cases were lodged against anonymous miscreants, police sources added.

Shahbaz Sharif addressed PML-N Ministers of Punjab Cabinet
Lahore, Pakistan :- Shahbaz Sharif addressed PML-N Ministers of Punjab Cabinet, A meeting of Pakistan Muslim League(N) ministers in the Punjab cabinet was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif at Chief Minister’s Secretariat, here today, which considered the ongoing development projects in the province. Proceedings of the current session of Punjab Assembly were also discussed on the occasion. Senior Advisor Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa was also present.

Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that service to the masses is the mission of PML(N) and all resources are being utilized for this purpose. He said that maintenance of law and order, provision of inexpensive and prompt justice to the masses and elimination of poverty, unemployment and ignorance is the priority of the government and a comprehensive strategy has been adopted for this purpose. He directed Provincial Ministers to utilize all their energies for the rapid development of the province and ensuring solution of people’s problems. He said that billions of rupees are being spent on the uplift of downtrodden segments of the society while in addition to provision of free dialysis facilities and medicines, generators and air-conditioners have also been installed in hospitals first time in the history of the country. He said that the project of Danish Schools will yield far-reaching results and result in provision of modern academic facilities to the students of backward and remote areas. He said that timely and transparent implementation of development projects is being ensured and third-party audit system has been made compulsory for development projects. He said that corruption is a big hurdle in the development of the country and government is taking practical measures to root out this curse. He said that government is the custodian of public money and considers utilization of every penny of funds in a transparent manner as its responsibility. The meeting also considered various measures for the welfare of the poor in the province.
