LAHORE: The death toll from a factory collapse in Lahore reached 26 while 16 injured persons were rescued alive.
The three-storey factory had crumbled to the ground on February 6 after a gas explosion.
Taking notice of the unfortunate incident, Supreme Court had summoned Punjab Chief Secretary, IGP and District Administration to appear before it.
Rescue teams today completed operation which continued for five days.
One aged lady was pulled alive after 31 hours while another man was rescued after 47 hours. However, he succumbed to his wounds at a hospital.

Politics of reconciliation is not weakness, says PM
RAHIM YAR KHAN: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Saturday said that the politics of reconciliation should not be thought as a weakness.
While his address in Rahim Yar Khan the PM said that Punjab Chief Minister has authority to summon rangers in the province.
He also said that Punjab CM should take steps to curb terrorism, extremism and the incidents of kidnapping for ransom in the province.

US national kills 3 in Lahore
Lahore: An employee of US Consulate in Lahore killed three people in Lahore, trendpk.com reported on Thursday.
According to details, US national named Raymond David shot at 2 persons at Qartaba Chowk and hit another bike rider while driving rashly, in an attempt to to escape the scene. The motorcyclist Ubaidur Rehman was killed on the spot while other two injured – Faizan Haider and an unidentified person – succumbed to their injuries in the Services Hospital.
Police apprehended Steve David from Purani Anarkali and confiscated a pistol with bullets and three mobile phones from his possession. Police have taken Raymond’s car into custody and started investigation of the incident. The accused told the police that he opened fire on the deceased at Qartaba Chowk, Lahore in his defence as they tried to rob him.
SSP (security) Rana Faisal,while talking to trendpk.com, confirmed that the foreigner is a US citizen and the two deceased wanted to stop Raymond on gun point.
Taking serious notice of the incident, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif sought a comprehensive report from the authorities concerned.
US Embassy spokesman in Islamabad said that they are in contact with Pakistani government over the issue.
Why did federal agencies not provide security to governor: Khosa
Senior Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Zulifiqar Khan Khosa said that those who were talking about the custodian killing of Governor, only want to appoint as Governor.
In press release, he said that federal security agencies were also deputed for the governors security and why these agencies failed to rescue the governor. He said that the federal government was not serious to find out the reason of assassination. He further said that the investigation should be made transparent and failure of federal law enforcement agencies also should be determenid.
Lahore: FIA raids Moonis Elahis office

The team of FIA Lahore wing raided into the office of Moonis Elahi, son of former Punjab Chief Minister and arrested his manager Abdul Maalik, trendpk.com reported on Monday.
Moonis Elahi is considered as a companion of Mohsin Warraich, a main accused of NICL case. The raid was linked as a continuation of the investigation of NICL case.Commenting on the incident, Moonis Elahi said that the action done by the FIA has disclosed the alliance of PPP and PML-N. Moonid also said that PML-Q will face all the allegations and is not afraid of any such cases.
FIA has managed to recover Rs 1.68 billion from NICL accused. Earlier to this the accused had deposited a sum of 600 million rupees; however the cheques of remaining amount of 80.04 million rupees have also been.

Missing prisoners: I am unable to recover accused, CS tells SC
Punjab Chief Secretary expressed his inability to recover the accused detained illegally in Musharraf attack case in the Supreme Court, Dunya News reported on Monday.
During the hearing of a case against the illegal detention of the accused in Musharraf attack case despite the court orders, Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry warned that in case of non recovery of the accused, all the officials concerned would have to go to jail whether its DCO or Home Secretary.
If the government is that much helpless, what do you expect from Supreme Court?, Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday wondered.
The Chief Secretary (CS) submitted his reply in the court contending that he was helpless regarding the recovery of said people. The court also rejected the holidays record of the jail superintendent while the IG Jails was given a dressing-down for presenting fake record in the court.
Justice Ramday addressed the IG Jails, saying that even after a duty of 18 years you dont know that date and day accompanies signatures. Additional Attorney General KK Agha said that the said accused were not whisked away by any agency.
CM Shahbaz Seeks Greater use of Resources

He added law and order situation, corruption, maladministration and terrorism are presently confronting Pakistan, adding it is first time that Pakistan will export 25 tonnes of meat to Malaysia.

Shahbaz hails SC for bringing corrupt to light
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif hailed Supreme Court for unveiling the corrupt, saying that the recovery of loans by the apex court would be a big service on its part, Dunya News reported on Friday.
Addressing a gathering after inaugurating Lahore-Kasur Road, Shahbaz said I will term any bureaucrat or public representative as my enemy who dare to hinder the uplift work in the province.
Later, the Punjab CM announced Rs0.5million for every labourer involved in the building of the abovesaid road.
