MEXICO CITY: Madonna’s new gym in Mexico City was finally given a permit to operate, a local official said Wednesday, two days after the US pop diva inaugurated the luxury workout space.
The Hard Candy gym had been prevented from opening because it lacked permits for land use and for its parking lot, Demetrio Sodi, head of the Miguel Hidalgo borough of Mexico City, and uncle of Latin pop diva Thalia, said.
“It was authorized during the day (Wednesday),” he later told Radio Formula.
“People usually check they have all the permits before inaugurating something,” Sodi said.
No one answered telephone calls made to the gym and its public relations company on Wednesday.
Madonna was in Mexico City on Monday to open the first Hard Candy Fitness club, part of a global chain she and her business partners are unveiling around the world.
Sodi said the gym was granted a special permit for the inauguration, in a country renowned for its cumbersome bureaucracy.
The gym is set in a lavish, three-story, 3,000 square meter (32,000 square foot) space in the Mexican capital”s exclusive Lomas Altas neighborhood.

Himesh gets ambitious

Was wondering why Himesh Reshammiya is suddenly out of news. Was it a deliberate attempt by the singer/composer/actor to stay away from the media after RADIO failed and KAJRAARE had an unsung release? Call it a coincidence, the announcement of his label, HR Musik Ltd., coincided with the sudden release of KAJRAARE.
Himesh is keen to talk about his future plans, which include HR Musik Ltd., a music content providing company. “It HR Musik Ltd. is set to launch a talented group of music composers, singers, lyric writers, bands and musicians. We hope to be the biggest music content provider to the film and music industry in all languages, not just in India, but globally. All content produced by HR Musik will be supervised under my creative guidance,” Himesh tells me.
Himesh is also on the verge of launching his first international album in English AT DA EDGE. Roman White, the creator of videos of Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood, will direct Himesh’s videos for this album, which is expected to be released across 122 countries. “It has 15 songs written, composed and rendered by me in English,” Himesh reveals. One of the biggest music publishers and also one of the biggest music labels have signed up with Himesh.
Himesh’s series of music videos will be produced by Vivek Singhania of Picture Perfect, with Randy Brewer of Revolution Films as the Executive Producer. “The videos will be filmed across the globe and the music and videos should be launched by March 2011,” Himesh adds.
Besides, Himesh plans to continue acting in movies simultaneously. Not just that he has also signed an international project as an actor. That’s not all; he also plans to produce movies. In fact, he has plans of starting two movies, to begin with.

Himesh’s Kajraare releases with morning shows in just 2 theatres
These days marketing and promoting a film extensively before its release has become almost mandatory. Hence, we were completely taken by surprise when we got to know that the forthcoming Himesh Reshammiya starrer Kajraare has released today (15 Oct) without any fanfare. Yes…you heard it right, Kajraare has released in just 2 cinema halls across India, namely New Empire in Mumbai and Apollo in Pune and that too with just one matinee show at each of these theatres.
There is no denying the fact that after Box Office disasters such as Karzzzz and Radio, Himesh’s market value has taken a beating. However, despite that, no one expected a big budget film like Kajraare to release all of a sudden and that too with morning shows in just 2 cinema halls.
Kajraare is directed by Pooja Bhatt and produced by Bhushan and Krishan Kumar. Why the makers have taken such a sudden and shocking decision is something which remains a mystery as all attempts to contact anyone closely associated with the film proved to be futile.
Butt wants Lord’s clash to go ahead

LONDON: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ijaz Butt insists his side are happy for today’s fourth one-day international against England at Lord’s to go ahead after denying he had proof that England players were involved in match-fixing.
Butt claimed in an interview with NDTV that there was talk in the bookmaking fraternity that some England players had “taken enormous amounts of money” to fix the third one-day international against Pakistan at the Oval on Friday and added: “We have positive proofs (of the allegations) here before us.”
Butt, speaking to BBC Radio Five Live this morning, said he had no proof of any wrongdoing and that he was merely relaying information he had heard from bookies. “I have never said this. If you listen to the full tape of the NDTV interview, the bookies are saying this. I am not saying this,” said Butt.
