Latest Updates:Remember when people were updating their Facebook statuses with phrases about how they like “it” on the floor, or kitchen table, in an effort to raise awareness ofbreast cancer? It referred to a woman’s purse, but now Jem and the Holograms, Smurfette and the Smurfs, Strawberry Shortcake, Rainbow Brite and lots of other cartoon characters from the 70s, 80s and 90s are being taken along for the latestFacebook meme.According to the Washington Post, this is a rehash of a trend from November, given a charitable purpose:
Hopefully if you suspected a child was the victim of violence, it wouldn’t take a Facebook meme to remind you to report it, and we’re not sure someone who is violent towards a child will suddenly be swayed by seeing a cartoon from their childhood. Crazier things havehappened though, and while posting pictures of your favorite cartoon may not help anything, it can’t hurt either. If you need a starting point, here are a few of our favorite cartoon characters.

south park episode 201

The episode 201 of the hit Comedy Central adult animated show “South Park” was originally made to depict the Islamic Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as one of the characters who return for revenge on the makers of South Park for making fun of him. It is stated by the producers of the show that in the original episode the depiction of the prophet was not insulted in any way, neither was it made fun of. But of course the “depiction” of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) in any way, is prohibited. This was told to the producers of South Park by an Islamic website.
According to details the website RevolutionMuslim.com posted an indirect threat to the makers of South Park by saying that they might end up like the Dutch filmmaker Theo Van Gogh, who was killed by unknown people, probably for making a movie that portrayed violence against women in Islam. Makers of South Park evidently got scared of the threat and censored the whole depiction of Islamic Prophet (PBUH) from the episode and whenever someone took the name of ”Muhammad” in the episode, it was replaced by a beep. That is the reason that you’ll hear a lot of beeps when you watch this episode of South Park. As far as the visual depiction is concerned, the character of Muhammad (PBUH) was replaced by Santa Claus.

A radical Islamic website has warned the creators of South Park they may be murdered after the Prophet Mohammed was depicted in a bear suit in their 200th show.
The website Revolutionmuslim.com posted the threat against creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone after the episode aired on Sunday, FOX News reports.
The post included a photograph of Dutch politician Theo Van Gogh, who was shot dead in 2004 by an Islamic extremist because of his documentary on violence against Muslim women.
“We have to warn Matt and Trey that what they are doing is stupid and they will probably wind up like Theo Van Gogh for airing this show,” the post said.
“This is not a threat, but a warning of the reality of what will likely happen to them.”
The author of the post, Abu Talhah al Amrikee, played down the threat, saying he wrote it to “raise awareness”.
“They’re going to be basically on a list in the back of the minds of a large number of Muslims. It’s just the reality,” al Amrikee was quoted as saying.
In the post, al Amrikee urged readers to contact Parker and Stone and Comedy Central, which airs the show.
Al Amrikee provided the address of Comedy Central’s New York headquarters and the location of Parker and Stone’s Los Angeles production company.
He said he did not provide the addresses as a threat but so readers could protest the “disgusting” episode.

Some of you may know what day it is today but for those of you who don’t, it’s the Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network’s (GLSEN) 15th annual Day of Silence. The Day of Silence is meant as a silent protest against the physical bullying and discrimination of gay students.
According to news.spreadit.org, the event, which GLSEN has been marketing to schools around the nation, calls for students to be silent and not speak throughout the whole school day, in the hope that their protest will raise awareness about harassment of homosexuals in schools.
However, several Christian groups have previously issued statements about today’s event. They say that the holiday does not promote less bullying, and is just a day to simply promote homosexuality. One organization has even asked that all Christian students do not attend school today.
Other organizations have said that foregoing school is not actually the way to go, and has instead asked Christian students to engage their peers who are taking part in the Day of Silence, in the hope that they’ll be able to get them to change their opinions on the subject.

The annual pageant aims to raise awareness and money for Thailand’s suffering elephant population. Women weighing 176 pounds and over strut their stuff for judges in beauty and talent competitions – fully representing the theory that “bigger is beautiful.”
“I want to show people that just because I’m fat doesn’t mean I’m any less beautiful or talented,” said 18-year-old winner, Tarnrarin Chansawang, who weighed in at 242 pounds.
This year, 24 women participated in the contest at the Samphran Elephant Ground and Zoo, 38 miles west of the capital Bangkok.
As winner of the Miss Jumbo Queen crown, Tarnrarin took home several prizes, including a jumbo trophy and $50,000 baht ($1,270).
