975fbb70vvc1 Ferrari Ki Sawaari team shoots cricket sequence in rainVidhu Vinod Chopra’s Ferrari Ki Sawaari shot their most crucial scene last week, after a wait of two long months. Close sources reveal how they shot their one of the most important scenes in the script – that is the ‘Cricket sequence’.

The team, who has finished its first schedule of shooting, had kept one exclusive scene pending for over 60 days especially for the rains as they wanted to shoot it under natural rainfall.

The team filmed this significant cricket sequence at the University Ground, Marine Lines last week amidst heavy downpour, which was a blessing to them as they were waiting for the perfect weather since a very long time.

The cast and the crew of film kept postponing the dates to capture this portion, which forms the pulse of the film. There was a lot of to and fro to match the dates and time of the entire team for this particular scene as the rains were unpredictable.

Director, Rajesh Mapuskar was keen that the scene should be nothing less than perfect and all is done authentically. The film team was very supportive to him and generously managed their dates accordingly.

Finally the wait came to an end last week, where they managed to shoot the two day long cricket sequence in the desired weather with heavy rainfall.

Director Rajesh Mapuskar says, “I have been working under Rajkumar Hirani and Vinod Chopra since a while now and one of the first things that I have learnt is to be true to the script. Earlier also we have shot in the authentic backdrop of Mumbai University, we have also shot live on roads amongst live audience – even when shooting with Sharman Joshi. So it was very important for us to authentically shoot this cricket sequence as it happens to be one of our most important sequences.”

More than half of the shooting is done and now the crucial scene is also taken care of. Lead actor Sharman Joshi and director Rajesh Mapuskar are now gearing up to complete the rest of the script.

“Special thanks to Sharman and my team. Sharman, other cast members and the entire crew were extremely supportive of me and made sure that we film this sequence as we had imagined according to the script. 60% of the filming is over and we are very much running on schedule. Our next schedule of shoot will begin post September after the rains,” adds Rajesh Mapuskar.

MUMBAI : Actor Aamir Khan said author Chetan Bhagat was ‘hungry for publicity’ and denied claims that the film ‘3 Idiots’ was 70 percent based on Bhagat’s bestseller ‘Five Point Someone’.
‘Three months earlier he (Bhagat) was saying something else and now he is saying something else as the movie is a huge hit now,’ Aamir told reporters at a press conference at Big Cinemas here.
‘While we were shooting at IIM (Indian Institute of Management) Bangalore, Chetan had come to meet us. So when I told him that I haven’t read your book, he replied that there was no need to do so as I have read the script and it is different from the book… So no need to read it,’ the actor said.
‘Now he is telling everyone that our movie is 70 percent on the book. It all shows that we are being used, you (media) are being used. This clearly shows that he is hungry for publicity,’ Aamir said.
He added that Bhagat was trying to take away credit from Abhijat Joshi, the writer of the film that has grossed over Rs.100 crore in its first four days.
‘Did you know about the writer before the movie was released?’ he asked.
‘Abhijat and Raju (director Rajkumar Hirani) have worked on this script for three years. Chetan is a big writer but Abhijat was the other guy who was working on the script. Full credit is given to him and he is not their (producers or directors) brother. But he deserved it,’ Aamir said.
‘All Chetan is trying to do right now is taking away credit from these people who deserve it. Let’s not encourage someone who is hungry for publicity,’ he added.
Directed by Hirani, ‘3 Idiots’ stars Aamir, R.Madhavan, Sharman Joshi and Kareena Kapoor.
Reliance BIG Entertainment, distributor of the film, released about 2,000 prints across 40 countries.

Bollywood Best Actresses of 2009

8f5ade7d6cf 2009 Bollywood Best Actresses of 2009MUMBAI:  Bollywood Best Actresses of 2009, Another year come and gone, and another set of great performances. The following list isn’t your usual set of leading women, it’s just an awestruck look at the year’s ten best female acting jobs. Ladies, bravo.

Aditi Rao Hyder
This wonderfully fresh-faced girl didn’t have much screentime in Delhi 6, but just seeing her poignant portrayal of a divorced young woman made us wish the film told her story instead. Her character is a sad one, yet Aditi throws up moments of genuine hope in the way she looks at her family.

Mahie Gill
t’s a role that lacks screentime but makes up for it with texture, and Gill dives into the character of a beauty parlour owner/orchestra singer with an all-consuming love for Kay Kay Menon. In one particularly awesome scene in Gulaal, the fiery actress cries as she asks, frustrated, what’s wrong with her. ‘Doesn’t she look like Tabu enough?’ Priceless.

Kareena Kapoor
The juvenile entry level flirtations aside, Kapoor proved to be one of the sole credible performers in Kurban. Her character portrayed trauma solidly enough, and her heartbreakingly excellent performance in the last scene alone justifies the price of admission. In Rajkumar Hirani’s 3 Idiots sees characters lacking more heart than his earlier Munnabhai successes. Kareena, however, turns her easily-smitten persona into a fully textured one, wonderfully balancing excitement with annoyance.

Sonam Kapoor
The film Delhi 6 might have been clueless, but the striking Sonam Kapoor made a mark once again in her role as Bittu, an old Delhi girl.Raised in an extremely conservative family, Kapoor wants to rebel and change her life, but her defiance doesn’t stretch beyond Indian Idol. An impressive balance of spunk and sobriety.

Isha Sharvani
The character of a pampered, pink-loving talentless star-kid is so obvious that it’s ridiculously easy to get wrong.Sharvani deserves credit in the way she bestowed the Luck By Chance role with heart and came across so likeable that we kinda rooted for her despite her character.

Vidya Balan
There’s a sparkle to Balan’s character in Paa, her tragic condition notwithstanding. Mother to a child facing inevitably premature death, she balances out her inner turmoil with the strength of a committed gynaecologist.A fiercely independent single mother, her character folds as her old lover returns but Vidya makes sure we’re never dismissive of the character.

Gauhar Khan
The sexy secretary is a stock film character, but the way Gauhar plays the role in Shimit Amin’s Rocket Singh: Salesman Of The Year is a revelation.Initially just overdressed, her character proves to have more layers than her makeup, and Khan delivers a strong, understated performance.

Mahie Gill
Anurag Kashyap’s Dev D opens with a plucky Punjabi Paro taking naked pictures of herself for her Dev.
Mahie Gill made sure Paro was never the same, and shines throughout the film, particularly when she dances a spirited jig at her shaadi, berates Dev before washing his clothes, and redefines the role of the mustard fields in the Bollywood romance.

Priyanka Chopra
She might not look it, stripped of all the makeup and the slinky dresses, but Priyanka’s Sweety in Kaminey is one hundred percent femme fatale. The actress breaks through with her role of a manipulative Maharashtrian minx, crying at the drop of a hat but ready enough to weild a machine gun at a moment’s notice. A mobster’s sister right down to her blood.

Movie Review 3 Idiots

effe18e942idiots Movie Review 3 IdiotsMovie Review 3 Idiots: 3 Idiots; Star cast: Aamir Khan as Ryan, Kareena Kapoor as Neha Kurien, Sharman Joshi as Alok, Madhavan as Hari and Boman Irani as Professor Kurien; Director: Rajkumar Hirani; Rating:

Directed by Rajkumar Hirani the flick opens with Farhan(R. Madhavan) and Raju (Sharman Joshi) beginning a journey in search of their lost friend Ranchoddas Shaymaldas Chajaad (Aamir Khan) who leaves college all of sudden.

The movie proceeds through narrations that take you into the flashback when Rancho, Farhan and Raju arrive at a premier engineering institute to begin their course.

The three are roommates and go about their life at college in a lively way occasionally Raju and Farhan being worried about Rancho’s antiques.

The so called “villain” of the flick whose ways are against that of Rancho is the Dean of the college Viru Sahastrabuddhe (Boman Irani). In addition, to make matters worse Rancho happens to find love in his daughter Pia (Kareena Kapoor).

The movie has some really hilarious moments with wedding reception mayhem of Viru’s oldest daughter played by Mona Singh, Raju’s father being reached to the hospital in a very funny way on a two-wheeler and so on.

The first half keeps you at wits end. But, enter second half and you are no longer given the same experience of the first half. The end stretches a bit too long and some things are just too away from spontaneity.

The music is light and entertaining. On the whole a decent flick. Only time will tell if it joins the ranks of Aamir Khan’s other blockbuster movies.

3 Idiots works and how! With a good grip on emotions and entertainment, 3 Idiots is the biggest hit of 2009 for sure. Take it from us.

2c7ded60f4urbaan Critics To Love Me In Kurbaan: Kareena KapoorShe has played a prostitute, a bubbly girl-next-door and the ultimate glamour queen in her almost decade-long career, but Kareena Kapoor says
“Kurbaan” has given her the opportunity to sink her teeth into one of the best roles in her career.

“I am so confident that in ‘Kurbaan’, audiences will take to my character in a big way,” said Kareena, who looks forward to playing a variety of roles across different genres of films.

“Especially after ‘Kambakkht Ishq’, they would see a different me in the film,” Kareena told IANS.

A Karan Johar production, “Kurbaan” is directed by first time director Rensil D’Silva and has terrorism as its background.

“The girl’s role is very strong in ‘Kurbaan’ and I have worked really hard on my performance. I’m expecting a lot from the film,” said the actress, who has won critical acclaim for her performance in “Dev” and “Omkara”.

Kareena is paired with boyfriend Saif Ali Khan in “Kurbaan”, which also stars Vivek Oberoi, Dia Mirza, Kirron Kher and Om Puri in principal roles.

The actress says she is once again expecting accolades from critics for her performance in the film.

“Well frankly, this is one film where I am expecting both box-office success and huge critical acclaim. The film is extremely well made and, to add to that, quite topical,” she said confidently.

With music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and Salim-Sulaiman, “Kurbaan” is aiming for a November release.

For Kareena, 2009 would be an eventful year as it would also see the release of Rajkumar Hirani’s “3 Idiots”, where she is paired opposite Aamir Khan, and debutant director Prem R. Soni’s “Main Aur Mrs. Khanna” with Salman Khan.

After being in the industry for close to a decade, doesn’t she aspire for more awards?

“See, ever since I began my career, I have always maintained that I want to be a star actress. I should give the kind of confidence to filmmakers that I can carry off any role confidently. Whether it is a Geet (’Jab We Met’) or a Dolly (’Omkara’), Simrita (’Kambakkht Ishq’) or the character I play in ‘Kurbaan’ – I am mixing it up all.

“For me, work is like a passion and when I do a film, I don’t really think of commercial gains or awards. What is most important for me is to be engaged in some quality stuff. I sign a film because I like to enact the character that I have been offered. If box office success and awards come then, well, it’s great,” she said.
