5fc7c2c4bdrders Hasan Charged With 13 MurdersHasan Charged With 13 Murders, The US Army has charged a military psychiatrist Major Nidal Malik Hasan with 13 counts of murder in last week’s shooting spree at the Fort Hood Army base, while President Barack Obama ordered a review to determine if the government fumbled warning signs of the man’s contacts with a radical Islamic cleric.
An Army spokesman Chris Gray said Major Nidal Malik Hasan, 39, a Muslim born in the United States of immigrant parents, was charged with murdering the 13 victims of the November 5 rampage at Fort Hood, the world’s biggest military facility. He could face the death penalty and the case has drawn criticism of army intelligence after it became known that Hasan had been in contact with an Islamic figure sympathetic to al Qaeda.
Meanwhile, Obama ordered a review of all intelligence related to Hasan to determine whether it was properly shared and acted upon within the government. John Brennan, assistant to the president for homeland security and counterterrorism, will oversee the review. The first results are due Nov. 30. Obama also ordered the preservation of the intelligence.

President Barack Obama will Tuesday attend a memorial service to honor victims of the rampage at Fort Hood attributed to Muslim US army doctor Major Nidal Malik Hasan, who is also suspected of wounding 30 people. “All evidence at this point indicates the suspect allegedly acted alone,” Chris Grey, spokesman for the US Army criminal investigation division (CID), told reporters, adding that no motive had yet been established.

Texas High School Football Playoffs,Texas High School Football:The scene here at Leo Buckley Stadium late Friday night was reminiscent of most high school football venues across the country, as the Shoemaker Grey Wolves dealt with the reality their season was over.

Tears were shed, hugs were exchanged between players, coaches and players, coaches and coaches. Then the coaches thanked the seniors for great effort.

But this was no ordinary season-finale ritual for the Grey Wolves. Just over 24 hours earlier, many of them weren’t sure if their parents or loved ones were injured — or worse, killed — in the deadly shooting rampage at Fort Hood, the nation’s largest military base.

Shoemaker High School, which is just a stone’s throw away from Fort Hood, is heavily populated with kids whose families either live on base or are serving in the military. With wars going on in Iraq and Afghanistan, these young people have become accustomed to dealing with death.

But that didn’t make news of Thursday’s deadly rampage any easier for many of them to take. Twelve soldiers and one civilian were killed, and 30 others were wounded. If there was any solace, it was that none of the Grey Wolves’ parents or immediate family members were affected by the shooting.more info http://backporch.fanhouse.com/2009/11/07/high-school-football-team-near-fort-hood-copes-with-tragedy/
