News Break: ‘Ready’ first look

Are you ready for the first look of the latest Salman Khan starrer READY? Post WANTED and DABANGG, Salman Khan has emerged one of the biggest crowd pullers of Hindi cinema and every film of his carries humungous expectations. While READY is confirmed to hit the screens globally on 3 June, the producers will reveal the first look poster of this keenly anticipated film on 5 April, while the first promo will be unleashed on 15 April. “We are trying to plug it during the IPL as well,” READY producer Bhushan Kumar informs me.

Meanwhile, the worldwide theatrical distribution rights of READY have been picked up for a fantastic price.

Ready team watches Raavan in Sri Lanka, Salman opts out

On Saturday evening after pack-up, a part of Salman’s Ready crew in Sri Lanka took off to see Mani Ratnam’s Raavan. Salman was also asked to accompany the excited group of actors and technicians.

Says a source, “Initially Salman did show interest in the film. But then when it was time to accompany the rest of the Ready unit, Salman opted out because of the controversial nature of the subject and also the fact that he has earned the wrath of the Tamilians by embracing endorsing and visiting Sri Lanka twice in a month.”

More importantly, Raavan is worshipped by certain sections of the Sri Lankan people and the film did raise hackles when released in Sri Lanka.

Understandably, Salman was advised against accompanying his friends for Raavan. Mahesh Manjrekar who’s shooting with Salman in Sri Lanka confirms the fact that Salman did not accompany him and the others who saw Raavan on Saturday.

“I went with my friends. But it went very peacefully. I had also heard that the Sri Lankans were offended by the way Raavan was depicted. But there were 500 people in the theatre and they watched in rapt attention.”

Since the movie theatres in Sri Lanka do not allow edibles, Manjrekar and his friends had taken their own snacks. “We had a good time. Wish Salman accompanied us.”

She began to sing the song a capella, but she later came on stage with full band and a choir, in what was one of the greatest moments video ever shown on American Idol.

The judges were very inspired by her performance too. Simon Cowell called her disclosure of the song “inspirational”, while Randy Hackson gave her a standing ovation. Simon Cowell also said that she was in a different class compared with the other participants. She already has a very good chance of winning this year, but the fact that she broke down in the end was that she had a very tough couple of weeks of competition. She had thoughts of quitting and was even hospitalized.

Bhushan Kumar’s ‘Ready’ with Salman, Asin

Bhushan Kumar’s READY, starring Salman Khan and Asin, is all set to go on floors in June 2010. The film, being directed by Anees Bazmee, will have music composed by Pritam. It is slated for release in June 2011.

Naseem Ashraf Says Pervez Musharraf Ready For Trial

KARACHI: A close aide of former president General (r) Pervez Musharraf said Saudi Arabia expressed concern about the current situation in Pakistan during a meeting with Musharraf.

Talking to Geo News, former chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Dr Naseem Ashraf termed the former president’s recent visit to Saudi Arabia successful, quoted Musharraf as saying that Saudi King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz was concerned about the current situation in Pakistan.

Dr. Nasim said Pervez Musharraf would visit US in the third week of September where he will deliver 15 lectures in different universities and think tanks and later will reach Pakistan. Asharaf, a close friend of Musharraf, also talked him on telephone.
