Knock Out trailer faces censor trouble

4a4b2b01f4ckout1 Knock Out trailer faces censor trouble

The Sanjay Dutt-Kangna-Irrfan Khan thriller Knock Out is in censor trouble. The trailer has been banned by the censor board for an allegedly derogatory reference by Irrfan Khan to the 1000-rupee note.

Apparently, when someone in a scene wonders aloud why the 1000-rupee note is pink in colour Irrfan retorts, “Because it is created from the blood and sweat of the common man.”

The censor board raised an objection to what they see as a derogatory reference to the Indian currency. Rather than deleting the objectionable reference, the film’s makers have gone with the trailer to the revising committee.

Someone very close to the project says, “Why should the reference to the 1000-rupee note be seen as derogatory? What we’ve said is that politicians build their wealth on the betrayed trust of common people. Isn’t that the truth? Besides in Aashayein we have John Abraham constantly throwing money around, kicking and shoving wads of currency. Why didn’t the censor board object to that?”

Producer Sohail Makhlai confirms that the trailer has been stopped by the Censor Board. “It’s true they object to a dialogue on the 1000-rupee note. We’re now taking the trailer to the revising committee.”

Euro falls broadly, 4-year low vs dlr

June 7, 2010 by

TOKYO: The euro fell broadly on Monday, hitting its lowest in more than four years against the dollar with investors increasingly nervous about more slides in the currency after a clear break below a support point on charts.

Market players said the euro”s close on Friday below a 50 percent retracement of its 2000-2008 rally at $1.2135 was seen as a bearish chart signal, adding to the single currency”s woes.

The euro fell to an 8- year trough versus the yen as mounting worries about the region”s debt problems drove investors to sell the single currency.

Investors dumped riskier assets such as the higher-yielding Australian dollar and unwound leveraged carry trades, moving funds to the U.S. dollar, the yen and the Swiss franc, considered safe-haven assets in times of volatility.

The euro fell to its lowest point on record against the Swiss franc as more market players chased the euro down after it cracked below 1.40 francs on Friday in the absence of Swiss central bank efforts to stem strength in its currency.

Investors were aggressively removing themselves from risk on a number of factors such as mounting worries about Hungary and the euro zone, disappointing U.S. jobs numbers and falling commodity prices.

Lack of any expression of strong concerns at a meeting of G20 finance ministers over the weekend or from euro zone policymakers after the euro”s fall below a key chart support around $1.20-1.21 on Friday also encouraged market players to sell the euro more, traders said.

“Europe”s sovereign debt problems are just not going away and it”s difficult to see a light at the end of tunnel for it just yet,” said Jonathan Cavenagh, a currency strategist at Westpac.

“There might be a bit of support around the $1.18 handle, but we expect it to fall to $1.15 eventually.”

The euro fell as low as $1.1876 on the EBS trading platform, having fallen past $1.1900 in early Asian trade when more stop-loss selling was triggered.

Traders say the next option trigger is at $1.1850 and the likely target at $1.1825, the euro”s March 2006 low.

The euro came under fresh pressure last week on growing concerns that Hungary could be facing a Greek-style debt crisis.

Also weighing on the euro were comments by French Prime Minister Francois Fillon on exchange rates.

Fillon said he was unconcerned by the current level of the euro to the dollar and saw only “good news” in the parity between the two currencies. Later the remarks were clarified saying his reference to “parity” was about the general evolution of the exchange rate between the euro and the dollar.

The euro”s weakness helped the U.S. dollar index climb to a fresh 15-month high of 88.708, eyeing the 2009 high of 89.62.

The greenback”s gains came despite disappointing U.S. jobs numbers on Friday.

U.S. employers created 431,000 jobs in May, the Labor Department said, below the 513,000 predicted by analysts polled by a UK-based news agency. The jobless rate fell more than expected to 9.7 percent from 9.9 percent in April.

Osama Mock-up Had Spanish Politician’s Features: FBI

21be635b30atures Osama Mock up Had Spanish Politician’s Features: FBIMADRID: A Spanish lawmaker was horrified to learn that the FBI used an online photograph of him to create an image showing what Osama bin Laden might look like today.

The image using Gaspar Llamazares’ photo appeared on a wanted poster updating the U.S. government’s 1998 photo of the al-Qaida leader.

FBI spokesman Ken Hoffman acknowledged to the Spanish newspaper that the agency used a picture of Llamazares taken from Google Images.

In a statement Saturday, the agency would say only that it was aware of similarities between their age-progressed image “and that of an existing photograph of a Spanish public official.”

“The forensic artist was unable to find suitable features among the reference photographs and obtained those features, in part, from a photograph he found on the Internet,” the FBI said in a statement to media.

The wanted poster appeared on the State Department Web site rewardsforjustice.net, listing a reward of up to $25 million. The FBI said the photo of bin Laden would be removed from the Web site.

Llamazares, former leader of the United Left party, was elected to Spain’s parliament in 2000. The photograph of him used to make the wanted poster originally appeared on posters for his 2004 general-election campaign.
