Death toll of south Russia flood rises to 11

MOSCOW: The death toll of the floods in southern Russia’s Krasnodar region has risen to 11, local authorities said Saturday.
According to the latest information, 11 people died and three are missing, a source from the local administration was quoted by RIA Novosti news agency as saying.
Earlier reports said the flood has killed eight people.
Torrential rains in mountainous areas caused rivers to overflow, flooding 21 villages. About 300 people were evacuated and a state of emergency was imposed in the area earlier.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev ordered Regional Development Minister Viktor Basargin to assess the damage caused by the flood and take measure to help those affected.
The regional governor Alexander Tkachyov has pledged to pay compensation to affected families as soon as possible. AGENCIES
Casualties reported in Peshawar blast
PESHAWAR: Several casualties were reported in a powerful blast in Peshawar area of Saddar, Geo News reported Wednesday.
The blast occurred at Deens Chowk, a usually crowded commercial spot.
Some injured were seen being rescued to the hospital.
The fire that engulfed a couple of cars, has been extinguished.
The reports said the FC Headquarters is situated near the blast site.
The police and other law enforcement agencies approached the area before long and put a security cordon around the blast site.
The nature of the blast could not be ascertained at this point in time.
Germany says terrorism suspect held in Pakistan
BERLIN: Germany says Pakistan has arrested a German wanted on terrorism charges at home.
The Foreign Ministry said Saturday that Pakistani authorities had confirmed they were holding a man from Frankfurt identified as Rami M.
A ministry spokesman didn”t comment on media reports saying Rami M. was wanted in Germany for membership in a terrorist group, nor on reports he was planning a terrorist attack on Germany”s embassy in Islamabad.
Der Spiegel magazine and Berliner Zeitung daily reported that Rami M. had phoned the embassy, asking for documents to leave Pakistan.
They reported the embassy asked him to come in June 21 but was warned he planned an attack. The reports said Pakistani authorities arrested him before his embassy appointment.
One killed in DI Khan bomb attack
DERA ISMAIL KHAN: An injured passerby sustained injuries in a bomb attack at police mobile succumbed to injuries.
According to police sources, unidentified persons targeted police mobile with roadside remote-controlled bomb in Shaikh Yousuf adda area on Saturday. Nine people including five policemen wounded in the attack that were rushed to district headquarter hospital. Later, a seriously injured man identified as Zamarud succumbed to injuries.
Policeman killed in Karachi court attack
KARACHI: A policeman has been killed and two others injured when gunmen attacked police in city court to liberate their aide and an activist of outlawed outfit here on Saturday.
According to sources, attackers managed to took the arrested man along with them. Initial reports said armed man attacked policemen with hand grenades when outlawed organization activist brought to the court for hearing. Later, exchange of fire took place between police and armed persons. A policeman Shahzad has been killed and two others injured during trade of fire. The body and injured have been rushed to hospital. Police and Rangers contingents and rescue teams reached at the scene. Exchange of fire underway between police and culprits till the last reports came in.
Blast In Krachi Woman dies,3 children hurt

KARACHI PAKISTAN: A woman was killed and two children suffered injuries as an explosive ripped through soldier bazaar area of the city.
Police said the explosive material, thrown by unidentified people in a garbage heap, went off at Chandni Chowk in soldier bazaar area.
Initial reports said a passerby woman was killed and two children were injured in the blast.
Rescue teams rushed the injured to Civil Hospital Karachi.
Police and law enforcement agencies arrived at the blast site and cordoned off the area.
Detroit Marathon Deaths
Detroit Marathon Deaths, Thousands of people gathered in the streets of Detroit yesterday, or participate in the marathon, 2009 in Detroit, or just be a spectator. However, for all those people who gathered to attend the event, have not realized what would come next.

According to reports, three people died in yesterday’s event. Although few details are known about the deaths, officials say that two deaths occurred during the full marathon and the third death occurred during the half marathon.
The reports said the runner who died in the half marathon was only 26. The 2 full marathon runners who died were said 35 men and 65 years of age. Some reports say that 65 years of age, fell and suffered head injuries, but other details are not known.
