11 members of Unification Bloc quit standing committees
ISLAMABAD: Eleven members of PML-Q’s Unification Bloc announced their decision to step down as heads of provincial standing committees.
They submitted their resignations to Law Minister Rana Sanaullah instead of Punjab Assembly’s Speaker as per rules.
The Unification Bloc, in a meeting last week, had decided not to accept ministries and give up chairmanship of standing committees.
They, therefore, tendered their resignations to Law Minister Rana Sanaullah today.
The government is trying to persuade them to continue holding these offices. No decision has been made yet to accept their resignations.
Unification Bloc’s Sheikh Alauddin, who is head of Ashiana Housing Scheme, is yet to tender his resignation. TrendPK
JUI-F files application for seats on Opposition benches
Maulana Fazlur Rehman, chief of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), on Monday confirmed he has submitted an application to Speaker National Assembly to sit on the opposition benches.
Speaking to media representatives in Islamabad, he said the JUI-Fs parliamentary secretaries in the National Assembly and Senate have also tendered their resignations.The JUI-F pulled out of the PPP-led coalition government after Azam Swati, a federal minister from JUI-F, was sacked from the cabinet by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.
During the past few days, the PPP has attempted to win back Fazlur Rehmans support. However, the JUI-F chief has refused to change his stance on the issue.However, JUI-F MNAs sat on the treasury benches at the start of the todays session.
JIU-F MPs Maulana Qasim, Haji Rozuddin, Maulana Abdul Malik and others took last seats of the treasury benches.
Later, while talking to trendpk.com.Com outside the Parliament House, JUI-F Senator Abdul Ghafoor Hiaderi said that an application for seats on the Opposition benches would be submitted within a day or two. Referring to RGST, he said that his party would oppose it, if the reservations over it were not addressed.
JUI-F federal ministers send resignations to PM Gilani
ISLAMABAD: The hopes for reconciliation between Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman’s Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) have been ended apparently as the remaining federal ministers of JUI-F have sent their resignations to Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Thursday.
JUI-F’s ministers Maulana Ata-ur-Rehman and Rehmatullah Kakar sent their resignations to PM Gilani today.
Maulana Fazal-ur- Rehman is Federal Minister for Tourism and Rehmatullah Kakar is Federal Minister for Housing.
Maulana Fazal told while talking to TrendPK that their decision, to quit the government, is final and they have sent their resignations through fax, postal service and by hand to the Prime Minister, but the PM House is still denying it.

LAHORE: The ongoing scuffle over the transfer a Sessions Judge Zawar Ahmed Sheikh between Lahore Bar Association (LBA) and judges of Punjab has mounted as all lower court judges have gone on strike after tendering their resignations in protest of the humiliating attitude of lawyers.
The ban imposed on rallies and gatherings in Lahore High Court and its surrounding areas has been extended to one month under Section-144.
The lawyers are observing a countrywide strike today for their demands, including the transfer of Sessions Judge Zawar Sheikh. LBA continues its meeting to finalize the next move amid a ban on rallies.
A conflict between lawyers and judges continues. After the violent agitations in Lahore, no solution has been come up with to reconcile the disputed matters.

Resignations show change is imminent, says Mushahid
Mushahid Hussain Sayed, Secretary General PML-Q, has said that change should come through democratic means.
Talking to media in Multan on Sunday, he said that the resignations by the ministers proved that change has come, adding boots (Army) are not coming rather the ministers are leaving. He said that PPPs own members are talking of corruption.
No-trust motion tabled against AJK PM
MUZAFFARABAD: Opposition tabled no confidence motion against Prime Minister AJK Raja Farooq Hyder Khan on Friday.
AJK Information Minister Majid Khan Chaudhry and Chaudhry Abdul Aziz submitted the no confidence motion.
The name of former Prime Minister Sardar Ateeque has been presented as alternate prime minister of the region.
According to sources 10 Kashmir ministers have sent their resignations to the chief of the ruling Muslim Conference party.
Poverty-ridden family laid to rest
LAHORE: The poor family, which consumed poisonous pills having been sick of poverty, has been buried in an environment of utter despair and grave grief here on late Wednesday.
The spouse of Mohammed Akbar and one of his daughters survived while another two daughters and he himself could not stay alive longer after they attempted suicide.
It may be mentioned, a family of six on Wednesday morning consumed poisonous pills in a suicide attempt in Shahpur Kanjra on Wednesday, in order to escape poverty.
Forty-year-old Muhammad Akbar Shah and two of his daughters died after consuming the poison. His wife, Aiman, his 12-year-old daughter Khadija and his son survived the suicide attempt.
Akbar, a rickshaw driver, had been living with his family and his brother, Amjad Shah, in a two-room house in Shahpur Kanjra village for the past two years.
Amjad told the police that Akbar was constantly stressed about his financial situation as he was the family’s sole breadwinner. Amjad said his brothers daily earnings had been decreasing daily, and the family lived on the brink of poverty.
According to Amjad, Akbar fought with his family on Wednesday about financial issues and fled his home, only to return a while later with some pills.
He dissolved the pills in water and gave the mixture to his family, consuming some himself.
The family was taken to hospital soon after they consumed the poison, where doctors managed to save Akbar’s wife and daughter.
Muhammad Aslam, Akbar’s father, said he had no idea that his son would take such an extreme step to escape destitution.
On the other hand, Afzal Khokhar, a PML-N MNA from the area, told media that there was probably some other reason behind the suicide.
He said that no one had committed suicide because of hunger, adding that due to his tight schedule on Wednesday he had not visited the family.
Talking to media, philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi said he saw similar cases very frequently.
“Every now and then we get women outside our homes, asking us to take in their children because they cannot afford rent or food,” he said. “There is only one reason for this: poverty.”
Edhi blamed tax-evasion and lavish spending for the huge disparity between the rich and the poor, adding that government institutions were not pushed to alleviate poverty either.
Presidency terms resignation reports of PPP’s MPAs concocted
ISLAMABAD: In a high-level meeting of PPP, as many as 14 female members Punjab assembly tendered their resignations on the directives of Mrs. Faryal Talpur, Geo news reported.
However, president spokesman Farhatullah Babar denying reports on media, termed them fabricated and baseless.
According to PPP sources, chairing jointly a high-level party meeting, Mrs. Faryal Talpur and senior provincial minister Raja Riaz Ahmed, directed all 18 PPP’s female members of Punjab assembly to tender their resignations, but nevertheless, 14 of them resigned from their offices.
Sources said, the brawl occurred between Fauzia Behram and Sajida Mehar on June 14 in Punjab assembly was the sole agenda of the sitting, but much-awaited duo were missing from meeting – the former did not attend while later left earlier.
PPP’s Female members in Punjab assembly were made to sign three forms each, sources also said.

Following the poorest performance in Hockey World Cup the resignations of the national hockey team turned out to be temporary and five days after the retirement the players took back their resignations. Captain Zeeshan Asharf however maintained that he would make his decision on return from India.
Federal Sports Minister Ejaz Jakhrani has directed the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) not to accept the resignations submitted by the entire hockey team following their dismal performance in FIH World Cup. The federal minister met with the team, which finished last in the 12-nation tournament.
Later, Jakhrani told media that players could not perform better due to bad luck and the fatigue after playing constant hockey ahead of the World Cup.
Jakhrani made no comments on Asif Bajwa’s case. He added that “We will have to work together to save the hockey in Pakistan, he said, adding that former players will also be consulted in this regard.”
