MPs average assets triple in 6 years: PILDAT

The assets of parliamentarians have tripled over the past six years, FATA MNA Muhammad Kamran Khans assets grew 42 times during the past one year.
According to a survey report released by the Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development (PILDAT), PPP MNA Mehboobullah Jahangir Khan Tareen the richest person with assets worth Rs. 3.28 billion. PML-N MNA Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is the second richest MP with assets worth Rs. 1.62 billion. Jahangir Khan Tareen is third with total assets worth Rs. 1.09 billon.
The study revealed, average assets of MPs are at Rs. 20.70 million in 2002, which jumped to Rs. 80.10 million by 2008.
Other parties are Pakistan Muslim League at 5, Awami National Party (ANP) at 6, Peoples Party Sherpao (PP-S) at 7, Muttahida Qaumi Movement at 8, Balochistan National Party at 9 and Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal at 10.
PML-Ns Nuzhat Sadiq is the richest female parliamentarian. She owns assets worth Rs. 910.28 million. The Prime Ministers Advisor Asma Arbab Alamgir is the second richest woman.

KARACHI: Owing to poverty and price hike, the income of a common man is constantly declining. As a result, Pakistan’s middle class is vanishing.

On the contrary, assets of parliamentarians elected by the people of Pakistan have tripled over the past five years, says a report released by the Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development (PILDAT).

It analyzed who the richest MP was, who among female members was the richest and which party had the richest MPs in its ranks.

The source of the study was the declaration of assets by MPs and published in the official gazette as a public document.

The study has declared PPP MNA Mehboobullah Jan Tarin the richest person with assets worth Rs. 3.28 billion.

Match fixing probe begins against Modi

MUMBAI: Investigations of match fixing against IPL commissioner Lalit Modi has begun here on Monday while the Indian cricket board has decided to remove him from the post of IPL commissioner.

As per income tax report, strange change in Modi’s life style will be scrutinized as he has been included in the richest people of India within four years.

The report revealed that the IPL commissioner is involved in match fixing and betting whereas Modi has also limited ownership rights of three of the eight teams in the Indian Premier League.

These teams also include Rajasthan Royals who was the winner of the IPL’s first edition.

Accoding to Indian media, the Indian cricket board has called a meeting on May 2 for removing Modi from the IPL chairmanship.

Leaders of Houston-based Enterprise Products, Enterprise GP Holdings LP and Duncan Energy Partners LP will stay in their current roles, the partnership said Monday in a statement. Enterprise Products is the largest U.S. pipeline partnership by market value, and Mr. Duncan was the richest man in Houston.

Mr. Duncan formed Enterprise Products Co. in 1968 with $10,000 and two trucks, according to a company biography. Enterprise Products Partners owns almost 48,000 miles 77,000 kilometre of pipelines. Mr. Duncan’s Enterprise GP Holdings owns the general partner that controls Enterprise Products.

Recovering financial markets and commodities and strong economic growth from some Asian-Pacific and Latin American economies helped to increase the collective wealth of the world’s richest by $2.4 trillion to $3.6 trillion and the number of billionaires increased from 793 to 1,011. Average net worthrose $500m to $3.5bn.
Mukesh Ambani, chief executive of Reliance Industries, landed the number four spot with $29bn, up from seventh. Lakshmi Mittal, owner of ArcelorMittal, secured the fifth spot with $28.7bn. For the first time, China, with 64 billionaires, is the region with the most members outside of the US, which has 403, followed by Russia with 62.
