august rush

August Rush is an American drama directed by Kirsten Sheridan. It is often referred as an updated story of Oliver Twist. The film is about a 12-year-old orphan boy who believes he can hear music from his parents. He actually believes he can hear music from everything, for example from leaves.
When young cellist Lyla (Keri Russell) and rock musician Louis (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) meet at a party in the mid 1990s, it’s love at first sight, and they spend the night in each other’s arms. But Lyla’s father forces them apart, even though she later learns she’s pregnant. Later, an accident lands Lyla in the hospital, and though her father tells her that her baby died, the child survives and is given up for adoption. AUGUST RUSH jumps to the present and begins to follow Evan (Freddie Highmore), an 11 year old who has grown up in a boys’ home. As Evan embarks on a crusade to find his parents, he imagines he can communicate with them through his gift for music.
His journey to New York City brings him into contact with Wizard (Robin Williams), a man eager to capitalize on the child prodigy’s talent. Wizard gives Evan the name August Rush as he begins performing all over the city, but the boy’s ultimate goal is to find the parents he has never met. From FINDING NEVERLAND to CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, Highmore has displayed an almost prodigious talent himself. He’s a gifted young actor, and this emotional story is the perfect venue for his acting. AUGUST RUSH isn’t a film for the cynics, but even the hard-hearted in the audience will have difficulty not being touched by this sentimental film. As in Evan’s life, music plays a central role in AUGUST RUSH, and it’s tough not to let your heart soar along with the melodies. Though it could draw comparisons to OLIVER! and ANNIE, this is a unique and heartwarming film.
August Rush is a sweet little move with its heart in the right place, but it has two big strikes against it. First, it relies too much on coincidence. Less charitable reviewers would call it contrivance. Second, Robin Williams is in it.

Elijah Wood Girlfriend
Elijah Wood Girlfriend, Elijah Wood and Robin Williams are in negotiations to reprise their penguin alter egos in Happy Feet 2, the follow-up to the 2006 computer animated musical about a young tap-dancing social outcast named Mumble amongst a society of uncannily talented singing penguins. But under the tutelage of some funky fresh penguins including Ramon and the master of funk Lovelace (both voiced by Williams) Mumble gets the courage to be true to himself and his happy feet. The sequel’s story is being kept under wraps but George Miller is writing and directing again.
Next up Variety says Frank Langella (Frost/Nixon) will be joining Liam Neeson, January Jones and Diane Kruger in Orphan director Jaume Collet-Serra’s action thriller Unknown White Male. The story follows a doctor (Neeson) who, while visiting Berlin with his wife (Jones), is in a car accident that leaves him in a coma. He awakens to find that he has been inexplicably replaced by another man, leading the good doctor on a frantic quest to uncover the truth behind his stolen identity. Langella plays Cole, who comes forward as the doctor’s colleague and just might be able to help him take back his life. Hopefully Langella will still be speaking like Richard Nixon in this and all following roles.
Meanwhile, THR reports that Kate Bosworth (superman Returns) has joined director Jean-Marc Vallee’s next film Lost Girls and Love Hotels, which tells the story of a woman (Bosworth) who tries to forget her past while working in Tokyo as an English specialist at a stewardess training institute by day and losing herself in a sex- and drug-addled oblivion by night. She finds herself on the road to redemption when she becomes interested in a missing Western girl. Do you smell that? It’s a traditional fresh baked indie film about someone who comes close to actually ends up hitting rock bottom forcing them to find and redeem themselves. Maybe The Smiths or even Elliot Smith will be on the soundtrack too!
Finally, THR has a casting announcement for Brother’s Keeper, a PG-rated family drama being produced by WWE Films. Yes, that WWE, so it’s no surprise that wresting champion turned sub-par actor John Cena will be joining Patricia Clarkson, Danny Glover, Devon Graye and Madeleine Martin. Director Mel Damski, who has recently directed episodes of USA’s Psych, hasn’t directed a feature film since 1985’s Mischief will be responsible for the story of a teenage boy (Graye) who tries to reunite his mother (Clarkson) and estranged older brother (Cena) 10 years after the death of their father, a state college wrestling legend. A brilliant student with no apparent athletic talents, the teenager decides to join the high school wrestling team as a way to pull the family together. He will come of age, oh yes, he will come of age.

MUMBAI : Priyanka Chopra seems to have a tendency to fall in trouble every time. The actress, who has been making rounds in and out of the hospital, met with a minor accident on the sets of her upcoming film ‘Anjaana Anjaani’. The actress, who is nursing a foot injury, has been advised complete bed rest for over a week.
Though the actress has sustained no serious injuries, sources maintain that she has been advised not to step her foot out of her room. Talking about the accident a source told a daily, “It was a minor accident and thankfully, with no major injuries to Priyanka. In Bangkok, Priyanka was required to do a scene in the ocean, where she unknowingly stepped on a pointed rock. As a result, she lost her grip and ended up getting bruised on her foot.”
“Director Siddharth Anand and the crew ran to her rescue, but luckily, nothing major had happened. The shoot wasn`t stalled. Priyanka just applied an ointment and was back on her feet for the shot. Ranbir Kapoor, reportedly, was not required for the scene and so wasn`t present. Priyanka is currently shooting in Pattaya, Thailand with the rest of the cast and crew,” the source added.
Nevertheless, this isn’t the first time that Priyanka has had an accident. In the past too, the stunner was hurt while doing stunts for ‘Drona’ and ‘Kaminey’.

‘New Moon‘, The ‘Twilight‘ vampire romance sequel ‘New Moon’ remained firmly clamped down on the North American box office top spot for a second week, preliminary figures showed on Sunday.
The second big-screen installment adapted from Stephenie Meyer’s phenomenally successful books took in 42.5 million dollars over the weekend, according to figures from Exhibitor Relations.
That brought the movie’s two-week earnings to a whopping 230.7 million dollars after it raked in an astounding 142.8 million dollars in its first three days of release.
Only Batman sequel “The Dark Knight” with 158.4 million dollars and “Spider-Man 3″ with 151.1 million dollars have scored bigger openings.
The “New Moon” release weekend earnings were considered particularly impressive because the film was released in November, outside of the traditional summer blockbuster season.
The “Twilight” franchise follows the fortunes of high school teenager Bella Swan, played by Kristen Stewart, and her vampire lover Edward Cullen, played by British heart-throb Robert Pattinson.
Also showing staying power this week were “The Blind Side,” which hung on to the number two spot for a second week and “2012,” at number three for a second week.
“The Blind Side,” a feel-good film based on the real-life journey from rags to riches of Baltimore Ravens American football star Michael Oher, earned 40.1 million dollars in box office receipts.
“2012,” which makes ample use of special effects to illustrate the end of the world, brought in 18 million dollars in its third week in theatres.
In at number four was “Old Dogs,” a Disney movie starring John Travolta and Robin Williams, which took in 16.8 million dollars in its opening weekend.
“Disney’s A Christmas Carol” remained in fifth place for a second week, earning 16 million dollars in its fourth week in theatres, while “Ninja Assassin” took the number six spot, earning 13.1 million dollars.
Down three spots to number seven was “Planet 51,” the animated tale of an astronaut forced to take refuge with a young alien on a faraway planet, which earned 10.2 million dollars.
The acclaimed but harrowing “Precious” took the number eight spot with 7.09 million dollars, while Wes Anderson’s adaptation of the Roald Dahl classic “Fantastic Mr Fox” shot up from number 24 last week to earn the number nine spot with 7.02 million dollars.
Rounding out the top ten was satire “The Men Who Stare At Goats,” starring George Clooney and Jeff Bridges as members of a military unit schooled in psychological warfare. The film took 1.5 million dollars.
