Rogers wins Amgen Tour of California
Michael Rogers survived challenges from both Dave Zabriskie and Levi Leipheimer to win the 2010 Amgen Tour of California. Rogers wins $200,000 for his team and also claim his second Tour race in 2010.
The Australian native took a nine second lead over Zabriskie into the final day and when they crossed the finish line that gap remained unchanged, but not without a fight. None of the three main challengers did much in the way of pushing until they hit the final lap, but once the action started it proved to be dramatic. Just before his first charge, Leipheimer suffered a flat tire, which not only cost him time, but also cost him energy which he had to expend in order to catch up to the lead pack. But once he did rejoin the pack, Leipheimer made his first charge, forcing Rogers and then Zabriske to chase him.
For a few brief moments it appeared Rogers might not have a counter in him, but he mustered the strength and as they reached the descent, it became clear that Rogers would be able to hold on and win the title. Ryder Hesjedal, who is a teammate of Zabriskies on the Garmin-Transitions Team, won the final stage with a huge push at the end, tracking down and passing George Hincapie of the BMC Racing Team.

Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery took place from St. Louis, Missouri and the world watching witnessed a spectacular performance by champion.
The organizations heavyweight champion, Alistair Overeem was successful in defending his title by demolishing Brett Rogers in the first round. Overeem overpowed Rogers and finished the fight via strikes on the ground.
Post-fight, Overeem called out Fedor Emelianenko who fights later next month at a June event in Los Angeles.

Overeem says after the win that he wants to fight Fedor Emelianenko next, pointing out that Fedor’s management turned down the chance to fight him on this show.
Overeem is the natural next opponent for Fedor, even more so than FabricioWerdum (who will fight Fedor in June). Partially because Emelianenko is treated like the champion even though he isn’t, so it makes sense to give him the chance to make it official. Likewise, Overeem, in being the champion, should fight the best in his division, which is clearly Fedor.
Alistair Overeem came under great scrutiny over the past few weeks from MMA websites who ran a smear campaign of sorts against him due to the possibility of him using PEDs. In a way, even if his test from this event comes back clean I don’t expect that banter to ever really stop. Regardless, there have also been a slew of doubters who believed his stint in DREAM as a Heavyweight has simply been record-padding and that he was unworthy of being considered a top heavyweight. He effectively shattered that tonight but dominating the man that ringside journalists awarded an actual round against Fedor Emelianenko until Fedor knocked his head off; Brett Rogers.
CR Johnson Dies In Horrific Ski Crash
Current Olympians and others in the ski community are mourning the loss of professional free skier C.R. Johnson, who died in a fall while skiing a steep chute at California’s Squaw Valley.
Johnson, 26, who has competed in the Winter X Games, was skiing with a group of friends when he fell while trying to negotiate a “very, very tight, rocky area,” said Jim Rogers, a member of the Lake Tahoe-area resort’s ski patrol.
He fell face-first, then spun around and struck the back of his head on rocks in the Light Towers area of the resort. Johnson was wearing a helmet, but Rogers said the helmet took a serious blow.
Ski patrol members were called shortly before 2 p.m. but were unable to revive him. Placer County Sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Ausnow said Johnson died on the slopes.
Johnson was well-known at Squaw Valley, a challenging resort near Lake Tahoe’s north shore that hosted the 1960 Winter Olympics. It also is the home base for several members of the U.S. ski team, including Olympic alpine medalist Julia Mancuso.
She tweeted about Johnson’s death late Wednesday: “crazy day just got a little bit more unexpected… just learned that my friend and insane skier CR Johnson just died at Squaw.. my heart and prayers go out to everyone at home and CR’s family.”
Olympic snowboarder Louie Vito also tweeted his reaction: “RIP to my homie CR Johnson. He will be missed by EVERYONE. At least he was doin what he loved but CR YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!!”
Johnson’s father was an avalanche forecaster at the resort for about a decade, Rogers said. The younger skier also had rebounded from a serious injury suffered during a competition in 2005 that put him in a coma for several months.
“This is a man of very, very strong skiing talent,” Rogers said. “This young man had been a fixture here at Squaw Valley for years. … He grew up at Squaw Valley.”
A statement from Squaw Valley USA described Johnson as a professional skier and member of its Freeride team.
He also competed in superpipe and halfpipe skiing at events such as the X Games. A photograph on his MySpace page said he was “X-qualified” for a skiing competition in France in 2002, while the Web site for the Ski Channel Television Network said he had been nominated for male skier of the year in 2002.
The freeskier.com Web site posted clips of Johnson in several extreme skier movies, jumping off cliffs and sailing through fresh, untracked powder. One clip includes Johnson talking about relearning to use his arms and legs after a severe injury caused by a collision with another skier while filming at Utah’s Brighton ski resort in 2005.
He recalls “being one of the best skiers in the world, overly confident in your skiing, overly confident in yourself. … Right now I’m working as hard as I possibly can to return to the sport that nearly killed me.”
Squaw Valley attracts expert skiers and is known for its difficult terrain. Johnson is the fifth skier to die on the slopes over the past three years. Two of the five died in avalanches, including one member of the ski patrol.
Attempts to reach Johnson’s family late Wednesday were unsuccessful, and a telephone message left with a spokesman for the X Games was not immediately returned.
Johnson, whose first name was Charles, had posted the following statement his MySpace page: “I feel it’s most important to keep it real and enjoy each moment, you know, take advantage of every opportunity life provides, because who knows what tomorrow may bring.” AP

Apple is expected to release the latest version of its popular iPhone at the worldwide developer’s conference in San Francisco later today. Sources have revealed that the new handset will have double the memory of its predecessor allowing storage of up to 7,000 songs or 40 hours of video, a faster processor, and an improved camera capable of recording video. The release of the new iPhone is a blow to Palm who recently released their own touchscreen handset, the Palm Pre. Although critics have praised Palm’s offering, it is yet to be seen if it can make serious inroads into the iPhone’s market share.

I have an unlocked “Originally on Fido, Now on Rogers” iPhone that has seemed to cease MMS functionality. )=
I originally had another iphone which was stolen. (it was Locked to rogers) and I could use Swirlymmsas I pleased. I then bought the Fido one (mentioned above), jailbroke it, unlocked it, installed SwirlyMMS and was having no complications untill now. When I start swirlymms it will pop up with a message after about 5 – 10 seconds saying “PDP Authentication Failure” or “Failure to Activate Cellular Data Network”. This is really annoying, and any help would be appreciated.
FYI Info: Its a 3G Iphone on Rogers, unlocked with Yellowsn0w.

The morning attack took place in the town of Adizai, about 10miles (16 kilometers) south of the main northwest city of Peshawar. The market was crowded with shoppers and goats being sold to celebrate the upcoming Muslim festival of Eid.
The mayor, Abdul Malik, who was initially reported to have survived, died in the attack, said Sahibzada Anis, the top official in Peshawar.
Malik, who had once been a Taliban supporter, had later switched sides and formed a local militia to help fight the militants.
“Malik had survived several attacks on his life in the recent past, since he turned against the militants,” said Anis. “But today the militants have finally killed him.”
Eleven bodies and 25 injured people had been rushed to the hospital, police officer Abdul Sattar Khan said. A young girl Noreen was among those killed and several of the injured were in critical condition, officials said.
Khan Zamir was buying goats for the Eid celebration when an explosion ripped through the street.
“That place turned into a hell where the dead and injured were lying everywhere and blood and flesh were spread around,” he said, adding that two of his relatives were badly injured. “Now we have our blood in this war,” he said, vowing revenge against the attackers.
Militants have struck numerous times in Pakistan in recent weeks, killing more than 300 civilians and soldiers in attacks aimed at weakening the government’s resolve to continue a military operation against Taliban and al-Qaida fighters in South Waziristan.
About 350,000 people have fled the fighting.
