Rajasthan Royals Retain Warne and Watson
Preparation for IPL season 4 is going on and franchises are waiting for auction dates. Suspended Franchises Ragasthan Royals has retained Shane Warn and Shane Watson. Both Australian players are key for the franchise.
According to new rule every team can retain 4 players and it is necessary that there should not be more then 3 Indian players.
RR spokesman said that it is very good for then that they have retained their top players. He added that Watson’s batting and Warne’s leadership skills will help their cause. $1.8 million per year is retainer-ship for 1st player and $1.3 million per year for the 2nd player.
The auction date for the IPL 4 was 6th December but it was extended to 8th December by BCCI as they want the auction to be conducted after the decision of King XI Punjab case.
Shane Warne led RR team well in 2008 season and took them to finals. He took 19 wickets in the season and was the 2nd highest wicket taker. Watson scored 472 runs and also took 17 wickets in the season. Both Australian players were brilliant and it led RR to pick them for season 4. If RR gets clearance to play IPL the Warne and Watson will be in RR team.
Rajasthan Royals Hearing Adjourned By Mumbai High Court
Rajasthan Royals has filed an appeal against their suspension from IPL by the BCCI. BCCI had suspended two IPL teams including Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab. These two teams were suspended due to their share holding matters. According to BCCI these teams breaches the contract and violate its basis clauses.
After the suspension an appeal was filed at Mumbai High Court by the RR team. The hearing of RR has been adjourned to October 29th. In the petition it is also asked that the name Rajasthan Royal should prevail with the team. Shilpa Shetty, the co-owner of the RR team demanded fairness in the decision.
RR has taken the view in the petition that it was not communicated to them that what was the reason of their suspension and they will contest the case as it is their duty to protect their fans, employees and players.
BCCI said that the wrong information has been provided to them and there are also some issues regarding the shareholding which contradict with the contract. In the contract it was mentioned that the original ownership could not be change for first three years but it changed twice. The matter is now judicial and court will decide the case now.

While he may not get his name etched in the record books for a perfect game, Armando Galarraga has been given a consolation prize. The Detroit Tigers organization along with Chevrolet have given the pitcher a consolation prize – a brand new corvette convertible for his recent efforts. The pitcher accepted the car at Thursday’s latest game, and even brought the official lineup to umpire Jim Joyce who will be working the game. Galarraga has received an outpouring of support in the wake of the Detroit Tigers perfect game which was blown by one umpire’s mistake. Fans have been mixed about the bad call, with some lobbying for the call to be overturned, making for true baseball history, while others say it should be left how it is, for purity.
According to ESPN.com, it appears there will be no new precedent set. A baseball official reportedly has confirmed the call will not be reversed. On Thursday, commissioner Bud Selig spoke about the potential for expanded replay and umpiring. However, Selig did not address the bad call from Wednesday night’s game. See full story at ESPN.com.
The call in question came at the end of the Tigers-Indians game. Galarraga had the perfect game seemingly won. With two outs to go, he covered first base as first baseman Cabrera threw him the ball. Galarraga’s foot was on the bag before the Indians’ Donald touched. However, umpire Jim Joyce called him “safe”. Upon further review by the fans, the TV analysts, reporters, and Joyce himself, he had clearly made a mistake.
It wouldn’t be the first reversal in baseball history. On July, 24, 1983, George Brett came to the plate with his Kansas City Royals trailing the New York Yankees 4-3 in the top of the ninth. Brett knocked a two-run home run out of the park to give the Royals the 5-4 lead. But Yankees manager Billy Martin requested that Brett’s bat be examined. Rookie umpire Tim McClelland ruled that Brett’s bat, slathered with pine tar, exceeded the rule that “a bat may not be covered by such a substance more than 18 inches from the tip of the handle.” Brett was ruled out, the home run nullified, and the Yankees notched another W.

Rule 5 draft at the winter meetings
Rule 5 draft updates :- The Royals released first baseman/designated hitter Mike Jacobs and left-handed reliever John Bale on Thursday morning prior to the Rule 5 Draft at the winter meetings.
Neither move was unexpected after the club failed in efforts to trade both players. Jacobs and Bale were each eligible for arbitration and deemed too expensive to retain.
Jacobs, 29, made $3.25 million last season when he batted just .228 with 19 homers and 61 RBIs in 128 games after arriving from Florida in an off-season trade for reliever Leo Nuñez.
Bale, 35, made $1.2 million while going 0-1 with a 5.72 ERA in 43 relief appearances. He spent much of the last three seasons on the disabled list after signing with the Royals as a free agent in December 2006 after pitching three years in Japan.
The moves left the Royals with two vacancies on their 40-man roster, which permitted them the option of exercising the fourth overall pick in the Rule 5 Draft.
The Royals, like all clubs, face an 11 p.m. deadline Saturday for offering contracts to players. Catcher John Buck is viewed as a likely non-tender candidate because he is eligible for arbitration after making $2.9 million.
Zack Greinke
Zack Greinke, Zack Greinke won the NL Cy Young Award American League on Tuesday, beating Felix Hernandez, after a spectacular season in wins, but short-term domination.

Greinke received 25 first-place votes and three seconds for 134 points in balloting by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America. Hernandez drew first two, 23 seconds and one third for 80 points.
Justin Verlander of Detroit was third with a vote of the remaining nine first-thirds for 14 points. It was followed by the Yankees with 13 points CC Sabathia and Roy Halladay of Toronto with 11 points.
