Pakistan committed to investigating allegations: Butt

KARACHI: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ijaz Butt reiterated on Wednesday the need for a thorough investigation into the fixing allegations that have tarnished the sport.

Pakistan’s recent tour of England was dogged by controversy, with three players including test captain Salman Butt suspended by the International Cricket Council over allegations of spot-fixing.

“Many of these recent allegations have concerned the Pakistan cricket team and these must and will be properly investigated,” Butt said in a statement. “But the problem and the rumours are not confined to any single country.

“Those of us who care about the state of cricket in the world today will not flinch from a thorough, uncompromising investigation of any such allegations and rumours, whether they concern Pakistan or any other cricketing nation, and we at the PCB will give any such

Vicki Zhao Pregnant, The star has been rumoured for a few months (most notably this) to have tied the knot with a Singaporean tycoon last August and is currently pregnant for seven months.

This photo looks suspicious though. I’m guessing that it was from some film shooting instead of real life; she’s probably holding a script there.

Scott Walker, It may be the calm before the storm, but things have been pretty quiet thus far on trade deadline day.

We do have a trade regarding the Washington Capitals to report, however, as Scott Walker has been moved from the Carolina Hurricanes to the Capitals in exchange for what looks to be a 7th round draft pick.

The Capitals get grit in Walker and will have a nice hard-working forward to line up against their tough playoff opponents. The Capitals are looking to go deep into the post-season this year and a guy like Walker helps them do that.

The deal likely means that the rumours about Whitney moving out of Carolina are probably not going to work out to be true. There’s little chance that the Canes will move Whitney now unless an absolutely perfect deal comes around. Of course, anything can happen on trade deadline day but a Whitney move looks unlikely.

Afghanistan Taliban Deny Meeting With UN

KABUL: The Taliban denied Saturday that leaders of the group fighting to overthrow the Afghan government had met with UN representatives to discuss bringing peace to Afghanistan.

The Taliban issued a statement branding reports of a meeting with the UN’s outgoing special representative to Afghanistan, Kai Eide, in Dubai this month as “rumours” and “propaganda”.

Referring to itself as “the leading council of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan” — as it did during its 1996-2001 rule of Afghanistan — the group said the reports were “propaganda by the invading forces against the jihad and mujahideen”.

“The leading council of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan strongly denies the rumours reported by some international media about talks between Kai Eide and representatives of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan,” the Taliban said.

KARACHI: Cotton spot rates of Karachi Cotton Association (KCA) jumped by Rs 150 to Rs 3,875 per maund on rising buying activity from mills and exporters, brokers said.

Chairman, Cotton Broker Forum Naseem Usman said here that cotton had touched the peak at Rs 4000 per maund on Thursday on hectic buying from exporters, but declined on the rumours of a possible ban on cotton export.

Cotton was traded at Rs 3750 to Rs 3875 per maund in Punjab and Sindh during the week on rising demand.

Good quality phutti price touched the peak at Rs 2000 per 40 kg while binola price closed at Rs 900 per maund in Sindh.

The actor is upset with the fact that D’Souza began talking to the media about John doing his next film without even having him in the loop.

The actor insists it has not even discussed any movie with Anthony.

One source reports a diary, “John is a very relaxed and rarely loses his temper. He was surprised to read reports of him making the next film from Anthony. Then I read about the film in question. A couple of days later he read that supposedly crashed in Blue 2, while some reports said that the title of the film is air. The worst thing was that the demand for Anthony John will star in both films.

The source adds further, “said Anthony John categorically that there was good of him to announce as part of their movies when there was not even discussed anything. John made his displeasure clear. Anthony John apologized and said he does not going to mention the name of the actor in the media again. ”

Harman and Priyanka Chopra: It’s Private!

MUMBAI : All box office failures but Harman is unaffected by any film’s success or failure. As he said during his recent visit to Ahmedabad last week, “I know my earlier films didn’t do well but as an actor I did my best and people have appreciated my work.

I believe the director should be happy with me. An actor is just a part of the film; there are many people involved who make a film hit or flop. It is unfair to give all the credit or all the blame on the actor.”

Harman shares how he always wanted to become an actor. “When I go back to my childhood memories I realise that the actor was always there in me. I remember participating in a fancy dress competition when I was in primary school. I always wanted to do something different and today also I end up selecting scripts which are different.”

Harman is close to his mother “who keeps me grounded. She neither gets excited by success nor gets disturbed by failure. You will not believe but when she won a jackpot in Las Vegas she was very cool about it and rest of us were jumping with excitement.” Though his first film was supported by his father and producer Harry Baweja, Harman has a different story to tell. “Parents’ involvement in my work is completely nil.”

How does Harman react to all the rumours floating around about his films and love affairs? “I just ignore all the rumours.” But that doesn’t stop us from asking him about Piggy Chops. “I want to keep things private.” So is there nothing between Harman and Priyanka? “I don’t want to say ‘no’ either because if something happens in future then people would say that I had said earlier that there is nothing between us. So I don’t want to say either yes or no.” He says, “Every woman has a special quality in her, it is the man who has to see it in her and if he doesn’t see then it’s his loss.” And he loves playing dandiya raas. “Most of my friends are Gujarati and I love playing dandiya raas. I know you tend to hurt your fingers at times but it’s worth playing,” says Harman with a mischievous smile.

Harman is “emotional and I trust people blindly which I want to change.” What keeps Harman busy apart from his work is gaming. “I love playing video games. I have started reading now but I can’t read novels. ”

Don’t we want to know how Harman became Hurman? “I have not added U to my name. It’s the filmmaker who wanted to add because of some of his belief and I respect his feelings so it was just for that film.” So now it’s Harman again.
