China plane crashes, 42 dead, 49 in hospital

BEIJING: A passenger plane crashed in northeast China late on Tuesday, overshooting the runway andbursting into flames, killing at least 42 of 96 people onboard in what was the nation’s worst air disaster for years.

The Henan Airlines plane crashed at 10.10 pm (1410 GMT) in Yichun, a small city in Heilongjiang province, after flying from Harbin, the province’s capital, state media said.

Sun Bangnan, a deputy chief of the Heilonjiang police, said 42 corpses of people killed in the accident had already been found at the site where the plane split apart and burst into flames after overshooting the runway of the Yichun airport.

Yichun Vice Mayor Wang Xuemei told Chinese television news that 49 of the 96 people on board had been taken to hospital, and three were seriously injured. Chinese media reports say there were 91 passengers and five crew members on

Airplane slips off runway at Ottawa airport

OTTAWA: A United Airlines jet operated under the banner United Express slid off the runway in heavy rain at the Ottawa airport, injuring the pilot, the airport authority told AFP on Wednesday.

“At 2:30 p.m. local time, we were notified that an Embraer aircraft slid off the runway,” airport authority spokeswoman Krista Kealey said.

The flight with 33 passengers and three crew onboard originated from Dulles airport in the US capital, Washington.

“None of the passengers were seriously hurt, but the pilot suffered minor injuries, and is being transfered to hospital,” Kealey said, adding the passengers had sinced cleared customs.

Paramedics and fire crews were at the scene. An investigation into the accident would be conducted, Kealey said.

India: 160 feared dead as plane overshoots runway

160 feared dead as an Air India Express aircraft overshot the runway at the Mangalore airport on Saturday morning. As per reports, 163 passengers and 6 crew members were onboard the aircraft.
Karnataka home minister has said that around 160 people may have died in the accident. He also said that the plane crashed around 10 km away from the airport.
The Mangalore police has said that there could be several causalties. Emergency services have been installed at the site of the accident. Almost 25 ambulances have reached the site.
The plane burst into flames after overshooting the runway. The injured were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital.
All the contact with the aircraft was lost after 6.30 am as the left wing of the plane caught fire.
DGCA has said that they merely have preliminary reports of the accident till now, and are trying to gather more information, including the number of passengers.

20 injured as Indonesian airplane skids off runway

JAKARTA: A passenger plane with about 100 people on board skidded off the end of an airport runway while landing in heavy rain Tuesday on Indonesia”s remote Papua province, injuring some 20 people, officials said.

The Boeing 737, operated by Merpati Nusantara Airline, was landing at Manokwari airport when it slid into a small canal at the end of the runway, police official Didi Zaenal said. He said the plane flew in from the nearby city of Sorong.

About 20 passengers, most with bruises and some with broken bones, were taken to a local hospital for treatment, paramedics and hospital officials said. There were no reports of fatalities.

BET Rip The Runway 2010 , this event at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom on Saturday was hosted by actor Pooch Hall and Rap lady of the moment Young Money Nicki Minaj.The events saw performance from Ludachris, Soulja Boy Tell’em, Estelle, Trina and Janelle Monáe and will airs on March 15 2010 .

Halloween on the Runway 2008

On the Marc by Marc Jacobs runway (left) there is punk rock, with retro pink plaids and pleated minis. This would be an especially fun outfit if you are usually not punker chic. And if you are, then maybe the cyber look for the Balenciaga runway (right) would be interesting. After all, Halloween is our chance to try out different looks and have fun!
Another look I am loving is the royal military look found on the MacQueen (left) and the Lacroix haute couture runway (right). The structured uniform jackets and all the details are just so pretty!
Even more regally, there is the royalty look also found on the MacQueen runway. There is just something so regal and colonial about it. I’m not sure how one would achieve this look for Halloween, but an idea is a start right?
And lastly, there is the classic vamp look. There is the elaborate version from the Lacroix haute couture show (left), or for something simpler and easier, the black lace version from the Prada runway (right). In fact, with all the “lace” around, you can very easily achieve this look. All you need are fangs!

Bisutti age 19, Simi Valley, California, won the competition after an online vote at the national level that earned him a place in the list of Victoria’s Secret. The supermodel and “Project Runway” guru Heidi Klum, who served both as host and model made an appearance on the runway for Victoria’s Secret.

As participants arrived in New York in each elimination round there were hugs, emotions and the kind words for the contestant eliminated. On November 19, Jamie Lee Darley, 23, Caramel and Kylie Bisutti showed his female figures on a screen in Times Square, as it has in turn on the catwalk. Project Runway Winner

Project Runway Winner, Irina Shabayeva Wins “Project Runway 6?.Irina Shabayeva won the 6th season of the fashion design reality show Project Runway on Thursday, which was delayed for months by legal wrangling between its previous parent network Bravo and its current home, Lifetime.

When Irena was told she had won, she said “I can’t believe it!” She then proceeded to jump into Tim Gunn’s arms, as he came out to congratulate her on her win. Irena then went on to say that she is definitely proud of herself, as she did have some stiff competition.

Irina Shabayeva edged out runners-up Carol Hannah Whitfield and Althea Harper to take top honors on the show’s second consecutive all-female finale.
