KARACHI: The most of the sugar mills of Sindh are employing delaying tactics which is brazen violation of the judicial verdict, Geo News reported Sunday. Talking to Geo News, Imtiaz Ali Shah Sugarcane Commissioner of Sindh Department of Agriculture said the sugar mills of the province should have started providing the 30 percent of their stock at Rs36/kg. KARACHI: The most of the sugar mills of Sindh are employing delaying tactics which is brazen violation of the judicial verdict, Geo News reported Sunday.
Talking to Geo News, Imtiaz Ali Shah Sugarcane Commissioner of Sindh Department of Agriculture said the sugar mills of the province should have started providing the 30 percent of their stock at Rs36/kg.
The majority of sugar mills including Shah Murad and An-Noor Sugar Mills are using delaying tactics in providing the commodity to the wholesalers.
He said the attitude put up by the sugar mills is violation of judicial ruling.
Imtiaz Ali Shah further said 19 sugar mills of the province will start crushing by next week, adding five sugar mills have started crushing.
Suger Is Injurious To Health: Amin Faheem
ISLAMABAD: The Federal Minister for Commerce, Makhdoom Amin Faheem has advised nation cut in use of sugar as he termed it as ‘Injurious to Helath’.
This he said during briefing to media and Senate Committee for Trade on Tuesday.
He dismissed allegations leveled on Trade and Commerce Ministry to create room for sugar crisis in country, adding that my ministry imported sugar as soon as we were directed.
On the occasion, secretary Trade Salman Ghani said the sugar price will be set no less than Rs50 per kilogram in forthcoming season owing to hike in sugarcane crop price.
Government will have to make sure provision of subsidized sugar on cheap prices, he concluded.
