ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Tuesday disqualified Balochistan’s Labour and Manpower Minister Molvi Mohammad Sarwar on the basis of his educational documents lacking unauthenticity.
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) told the court that the certificate of the minister from the seminary was not equal to a graduation degree.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikahr Muhammad Chaudhry struck down the notification of Sarwar’s victory and directed the Election Commission to conduct by-polls in his constituency.
Sarwar’s electoral eligibility was challenged by his rival candidate Sardar Ismatullah.
The apex court ruled that Molvi Mohammad Sarwar did not have the required educational qualification to take part in February 18, 2008 General Elections. SAMAA
