Karachi: Sindh govt to launch grand operation
Sindh Home Minister Zufiqar Mirza has said that a list of sensitive areas has been finalized and soon a grand operation would be launched to cleanse Karachi of all the criminal elements.
Mirza said that all the political parties would be taken on board regarding the operation.
Mirza informed that a meeting has been called at the Governor House and both, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and the Awami National Party (ANP) will be attending it.
Meanwhile, a police official was shot dead in Hijrat Colony earlier in the day, while another person was killed in Joharabad Colony. In the meantime, police and paramilitary units intensified patrols in West Zone police station areas including Moach Goth, Sayedabad, Balcoh Mohalla, Jahan Abad Old Goli Mar and Zamindar Hotel. The provincial government has also marked the abovesaid places as the most sensitive areas of the metropolis city.
Members of the Rangers paramilitary and police were patrolling Layari, a low-income southern neighbourhood and other sensitive areas where the violence has been concentrated, police said.
Sipah-e-Sahaba, TTP plan Haider’s murder: Malik
ISLAMABAD: Minister for Interior Rehman Malik said the outlawed sectarian outfit Sipah-e-Sahaba and Tehrik-e-Taliban are involved in Raza Haider murder.
Talking to media outside Parliament House, Malik said Raza was at the hit list of terrorists at and was informed about the threat to his life.
Interior minister said that MQM has warned against a suicide attack during funeral prayers of MQM leader Raza Haider.
He said the network of Sipah-e-Sahaba and Tehrik-e-Taliban will be eliminated and added that Rangers have been deployed in sensitive areas of the city for maintenance of law and order.
Red-alert security clamped in Karachi
KARACHI: Police and other law enforcement agencies have been put on red-alert here in metropolis on Friday in connection with Data Darbar suicide bombings on Thursday night, police told Geo news.
According to home department notification, police force has been directed to intensify security around sensitive places in city including mosques, immambargahs, offices, government buildings and Sufi shrines in order to thwart any potential terror attack.
Police will remain in contact with rangers and other officials of intelligence agencies, notification said.
Lahore shrine toll reaches to 43
LAHORE: Death toll of suicide attacks in Data Darbar has reached to 43 among which 28 martyrs have been identified, Geo News reported on Friday.
Cultural capital Lahore was on high alert Friday after two suicide bombers blew themselves up at Data Darbar packed with devotees, killing more than 40 people and wounding 175.
“The first blast occurred in the basement followed by another one with a deafening sound,” said one witness.
On Friday, large numbers of police and other security personnel were patrolling all busy and sensitive areas in Lahore, a city of around 10 million people. Police sources said heads of two suicide bombers have been found.
Security was particularly tight around mosques ahead of weekly Muslim prayers, senior police officer Mohammad Faisal Rana told media.
A senior investigating officer told media that the bomber in the basement set off his vest after he was intercepted by a group of worshippers and that police were combing the scene for forensic clues.
The entire country is in state of shock and mourning on Data Darbar tragedy whereas several religious parties and traders of Lahore announced ‘Youm-e-Sog’ Friday.
Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has announced compensation of Rs. 0.5 million each for martyrs and Rs.75, 000 for wounded.
Strike Against CBI’s Shopian Report Paralyses Kashmir
Srinagar: Normal life was paralysed across the Kashmir Valley on Tuesday due to a bandh called by a local outfit to protest the CBI report in the Shopian case, even as authorities placed top Hurriyat leaders under house arrest as a precautionary measure.
Shops and markets in Srinagar and other major towns of the Valley remained closed in response to the strike called by Majlis-e-Mushawarat, Shopian, to protest alleged “shielding of guilty and presenting of chargesheet against innocents” in the case, official sources said.
Giving a clean chit to four police officials in the case, CBI had yesterday said two women, who were alleged to have been raped and murdered, had actually died due to drowning and indicted 13 people including six doctors, five lawyers and two civilians for allegedly fabricating evidence.
Fearing trouble, authorities placed under house arrest all top Hurriyat leaders including chairman of morderate faction Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, Shabir Ahmad Shah, Nayeen Ahmad Khan, the sources said.
Light rains in most parts of the Valley including Srinagar also forced people to stay indoors.
The situation in the city and elsewhere was tense but there was no report of any untoward incident so far, police sources said.
Contingents of police and paramilitary forces have been deployed in sensitive areas to maintain law and order.

Pakistan: 10 More Militants killed in Operation Rah-e-Nijaat, Security forces killed ten more militants in clashes during Operation Rah-e-Nijaat in South Waziristan.
Sources said that forces targeted militants’ hideouts in Makeen and Laddah entire night. Forces are also consolidating their hold in Jandollah, Sararogha, Shakai and Kani Garam. Large caches of weapons and explosives were seized by security forces during search operation. Suicide jackets, machine guns, hand grenades and rockets were seized by forces.

Rangers, scouts deployed sensitive areas of Gilgit-Baltistan
GILGIT-BALTISTAN Pakistan news: The rangers along with Northern area scouts will be deployed at the sensitive polling stations for November 12 elections in Gilgit-Baltistan, said Chief Election Commissioner for Gilgit-Baltistan Rahim Nawaz Durrani Monday.
Durrani said that polling will start from 8:00 am and will continue till 4:00 pm. While talking to press conference in Gilgit, he said that 95 candidates of 10 political parties are participating in the elections for 23 constituencies. Besides this, 168 independent candidates are also participating in the elections. The election campaign will end tomorrow (Tuesday) night at 12:00 am.
