Turkey warns of continued Jerusalem settlement

The Turkish Foreign Ministry has issued a warning to the Israeli government of the repercussions of its continued settlement activity in occupied Jerusalem, saying that settlement construction “aims at changing the demographics of this sacred city”.
In a press release issued by the Turkish Foreign Ministry, it strongly condemned Tel Aviv s continued settlement policies in East Jerusalem highlighting the Israeli government s contradictory stance on the issue of peace. “On the one hand, Israel has decided to construct 900 settlement units in Har Homa in East Jerusalem, while on the other, it calls on the Palestinian side to return to the peace negotiations table”.
The press release called on the Israeli government to listen to the calls of the international community to halt “illegal settlement activity” in East Jerusalem, and all attempts to change the demographics of the city. It warned that the settlement policy undermines trust and weakens the peace efforts between the parties of the conflict.

Palestine rejects Israel settlement compromise
Palestine has rejected an Israeli proposal to renew a moratorium on settlement construction, plunging frozen peace talks between the two sides into ever greater uncertainty.
Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, had offered to extend a partial freeze on Jewish building in the West Bank, but only in exchange for Palestinian recognition of Israel as a Jewish state.
Within minutes of the proposal being made public, Palestinian officials had rejected it out of hand. The offer will be seen by some observers as unrealistic from the outset.
The Palestinian Authority, while acknowledging Israel’s right to exist, has long resisted calls to recognize it as a Jewish state, saying such a move would discriminate against Israel’s large Arab minority and prejudice negotiations over the fate of millions of Palestinian refugees.
The stand-off leaves the prospect of a resolution to the settlement row looking as remote as ever. Peace negotiations have quickly foundered after Israel declined to prolong the partial settlement freeze, which expired in the last week of September.
Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian leader, has threatened to abandon the talks if settlement construction is not halted again, although he agreed last week to give the United States a month to find ways of resolving the impasse. In an effort to break the impasse, the United States has offered Israel financial, political and security guarantees if it agrees to a one-off extension of the moratorium by two months. Meanwhile, Palestinian officials say they could reverse history by seeking to have the West Bank placed under international trusteeship if the peace talks fail as a last resort. The suggestion, which would see a return of foreign administration in the Holy Land for the first time since the British mandate of Palestine expired in 1948, is unlikely to win international support.
Israel PM convenes inner forum ahead of Arab summit

JERUSALEM: Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu was on Tuesday to convene ministers in his inner circle reportedly to debate extending the settlement freeze just days ahead of a key meeting of Arab foreign ministers.
“There will be a meeting of the seven,” a senior government official told AFP, referring to the Israeli premier’s Forum of Seven top ministers.
He refused to say what the ministers would discuss during the meeting, which is expected to take place during the afternoon.
Israeli media reports said the meeting was likely to focus on the issue of a 60-day extension of the settlement freeze in exchange for a US deal offering security and other guarantees, details of which were leaked by a top US analyst last week.
On Wednesday, Netanyahu was to meet with ministers in his 15-member security cabinet, the official said, again refusing to give details of
Settlement policy closes the door to peace: Palestine

WASHINGTON: Middle East talks in Washington have produced a pledge from Israeli and Palestinian leaders to continue regular negotiations, with the goal of a new peace deal by the end of the year.
The US says that”s the aim of all parties, which met for their first face-to-face talks in almost two years, but Jewish settlements and Hamas attacks remain major stumbling blocks.
Dr. Saeb Erakat, Palestine”s chief negotiator, told media about two main ways for the negotiations right now.
“I think it’s obvious now that we really hope that when the Israeli government has the choice between settlements and peace, that they will choose peace,” Erakat said. “The land that’s supposed to be the Palestinian state is being eaten up, annexed, dictated upon by settlements… confiscation, evictions from homes.”
“So if the Israeli government continues with the settlement activities, it means they have locked the door in our faces,” he stated. “(If they stop settlement activities), I think we can give the negotiations the chance they deserve.”
Tripartite Accord on Kashmir Soon: Mirwaiz
SRINAGAR: Tripartite Accord on Kashmir Soon: Mirwaiz, All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that he has reached tripartite agreement on the issue of Kashmir through backdoor diplomacy.
The APHC leader said a New Delhi-Srinagar agreement with Pakistan on board is one of the key objectives of the ongoing Track II initiatives between India and Pakistan and the “quiet” dialogue between the Centre and Hurriyat, says Hurriyat chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.
Mirwaiz, said there was forward movement on many fronts which could, hopefully, lead to a “substantive” outcome.
“A lot is happening. Work is going on…on many possible solutions, one of which is an agreement between New Delhi and Srinagar with Pakistan’s blessings,” Mirwaiz said.
However, Mirwaiz said the basic paradigm of the engagement is inspired by former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf’s four-point proposal for an acceptable solution to Kashmir.
“India is not ready for the joint-management part of the proposals which talk about joint control of foreign affairs, currency and communications in Kashmir,” Mirwaiz said. “There’s a broader agreement on the other aspects of this settlement model”.
Mirwaiz said that on Kashmir the new dispensation in Islamabad hasn’t departed markedly from the approach adopted by Musharraf’s government. He said “India has to overcome a huge credibility crisis in Kashmir before setting off any dialogue.”

Larry King Carrie Prejean,Carrie Prejean Larry King:the Larry King Carrie Prejean interview last night on Larry King Live. Carrie Prejean threatened to walk off the CNN show.
Prejean told King after a commercial break that she couldn’t discuss the terms of her recent settlement. She gave King the warning:
Larry, everything that was discussed in mediation — I’ll say it again — is completely confidential. I’m not going to be able to talk about that. So I’m just letting you know that ahead of time.
King’s questioning was not WHAT Prejean settled for (terms of the settlement) but WHY Prejean settled (as he calls it her “motive”). Prejean didn’t buy King’s crafted question.
Larry, you’re being inappropriate. You really are. So I’m not going to — I’m not going to talk about anything discussed in mediation. It was a confidential settlement. Larry, it’s completely confidential. And you’re being inappropriate, OK?
Prejean would say “no” three times, each time King interrupting her. He then said: “Inappropriate King Live continues. Detroit, hello.” Prejean then couldn’t hear King. Larry said “You took the mike off. You put the mike on, you can hear.” The caller’s question wasn’t answer.
The show went to break. Would Carrie be back? Would anyone care?
After a commercial break, Prejean was back. King asked “you don’t want to take phone calls, right?” “Yes, that was the agreement that you had with my publicist.” In the end, the two ended where Prejean wanted to start – talking only about her book.
