India bowl out Bangladesh for 167 runs
DAMBULLA: India”s batting star Virender Sehwag turned into a bowling hero as his team bowled out Bangladesh for 167 in the Asia Cup on Wednesday.
Sehwag grabbed four wickets for six runs with his off-spin to trigger a sensational collapse where Bangladesh lost their last six batsmen for the addition of just 12 runs.
Bangladesh, who elected to bat after winning the toss, made a flying start as openers Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes hammered 35 from the first 17 deliveries.
After Tamim fell for 22 off 12 balls, caught in the covers off Praveen Kumar, Kayes and Mohammad Ashraful added 46 for the second wicket.
Bangladesh were 81-1 in the 14th over before three wickets fell for 19 runs, two of them to seamer Ashish Nehra who removed Kayes (37) and Ashraful.
Mushfiqur Rahim (30) and Mohammad Mahmudullah (23) put on 55 for the fifth wicket, before India dented the innings.
Sehwag, who missed the World Twenty20 in the Caribbean due to a shoulder injury, marked his return with a superb spell on the slow wicket at the Rangiri stadium.
He had Rahim caught at the wicket, trapped Suhrawadi Shuvo and Shafiul Islam leg-before and then terminated the innings by bowling last man Syed Rasel.
Defending champions Sri Lanka opened the four-nation tournament on Tuesday with a 16-run win over Pakistan.
Each team plays the other once in the league with the top two advancing to the final on June 24.
Bangladesh name Asia Cup squad
DHAKA: Bangladesh on Thursday named a 15-man squad for the four-nation Asia Cup limited-overs tournament to be held in Dambulla, Sri Lanka from June 15-24.
India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka are the other three teams in the tournament.

Pakistan win toss, batting against Bangladesh
GROS ISLET, Saint Lucia: Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi won the toss and elected to bat against Bangladesh in the teams” World Twenty20 opener at the Beuasejour Stadium here on Saturday.
Pakistan are the defending World Twenty20 champions, having won the title by beating Sri Lanka in last year”s final at Lord”s.
For this match they chose to omit fast bowler Mohammad Asif.
Bangladesh have lost ten Twenty20 internationals in a row, their last win coming in September 2007 at the inaugural World Twenty20.
Pakistan have beaten their Asian rivals in all their three previous matches in this format.

With just 78 on the board – Bangladesh’s lowest-ever Twenty20 total, beating the 83 they were skittled for by Sri Lanka in the inaugural World Twenty20 in 2007 – it wasn’t the most auspicious start to their tour, with Raqibul Hasan, one of the five batsmen in double figures, top scoring with 18.
Daniel Vettori managed three wickets as the hosts gunned them down with two overs to spare.

DHAKA: India Win 2nd Test vs Bangladesh, India won the second test by 10 wickets on Wednesday against Bangladesh, clinching the series 2-0, at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.

Zaheer Khan took his innings wicket tally to six,on day four of the second test against Bangladesh.
At lunch, Bangladesh was 312-9 in its second innings, leading by a single run with only one wicket in hand. The home side lost their last wicket at 312 after the Lunch and the Indian openers needed to score two runs to win the match.
India declared its first innings at 544-8, having dismissed Bangladesh on the first day for 233.
Bangladesh began day four on 228-3 and with some chance of getting back into the contest, but crumbled in the opening session on fourth day.
Khan (6-87), bowled Raqibul Hasan for five and Shafiul Islam for a duck, while he also claimed Mohammad Mahmudullah (0), caught by Murali Vijay.
Shahadat Hossain (40) was the first man to go for the day, caught by substitute player Amit Mishra off Harbhajan Singh.
