Ferrari Ki Sawaari team shoots cricket sequence in rain
Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Ferrari Ki Sawaari shot their most crucial scene last week, after a wait of two long months. Close sources reveal how they shot their one of the most important scenes in the script – that is the ‘Cricket sequence’.
The team, who has finished its first schedule of shooting, had kept one exclusive scene pending for over 60 days especially for the rains as they wanted to shoot it under natural rainfall.
The team filmed this significant cricket sequence at the University Ground, Marine Lines last week amidst heavy downpour, which was a blessing to them as they were waiting for the perfect weather since a very long time.
The cast and the crew of film kept postponing the dates to capture this portion, which forms the pulse of the film. There was a lot of to and fro to match the dates and time of the entire team for this particular scene as the rains were unpredictable.
Director, Rajesh Mapuskar was keen that the scene should be nothing less than perfect and all is done authentically. The film team was very supportive to him and generously managed their dates accordingly.
Finally the wait came to an end last week, where they managed to shoot the two day long cricket sequence in the desired weather with heavy rainfall.
Director Rajesh Mapuskar says, “I have been working under Rajkumar Hirani and Vinod Chopra since a while now and one of the first things that I have learnt is to be true to the script. Earlier also we have shot in the authentic backdrop of Mumbai University, we have also shot live on roads amongst live audience – even when shooting with Sharman Joshi. So it was very important for us to authentically shoot this cricket sequence as it happens to be one of our most important sequences.”
More than half of the shooting is done and now the crucial scene is also taken care of. Lead actor Sharman Joshi and director Rajesh Mapuskar are now gearing up to complete the rest of the script.
“Special thanks to Sharman and my team. Sharman, other cast members and the entire crew were extremely supportive of me and made sure that we film this sequence as we had imagined according to the script. 60% of the filming is over and we are very much running on schedule. Our next schedule of shoot will begin post September after the rains,” adds Rajesh Mapuskar.
Sharman Joshi to play the lead role in Ferrari Ki Sawaari

After months of speculation on who will be playing the lead role in Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s next big production Ferrari Ki Sawaari, the verdict is now finally out and its none other than Sharman Joshi who has bagged the coveted lead role.
Sharman, it may be recalled, played an important part in Vidhu’s last production 3 Idiots which went on to become an all-time blockbuster. Industry buzz is that Vidhu Vinod Chopra has taken a bold decision by going ahead with Sharman for the lead role but the maverick filmmaker believes he has made the right choice.
Says Vidhu Vinod Chopra, “We have seen the screen test of Sharman Joshi, and
strongly feel that he has understood the character and done a brilliant job in the screen test.”
Ferrari Ki Sawaari is certainly a big solo project for Sharman Joshi who has until now mainly made a mark only in multi-starrers. The film, which goes on floors in February 2011, is being directed by debutant director Rajesh Mapuskar (who has assisted the likes of Raju Hirani).

He is the man of few words, who lets his work speak for him. His latest work is a piece of art called Allah Ke Banday. He is none other than Faruk Kabir, one of the Gen-Next directors, who is indeed a name to watch out for! On his own admission, he has once told that he went to the New York Film Academy, did his screenplay courses there, came back and took a sabbatical. He didn’t work with anyone, he just kept writing with script discipline and extreme concentration for over two to three years! Some ‘decision’ that! Faruk also makes his acting debut in the film alongside Sharman Joshi and Naseeruddin Shah.

Naseer, Sharman and Faruk Kabir to file PIL against Central Government

Normally it is our filmmakers who are served PILs (public interest litigations) by disgruntled citizens.
In what could seen as a historic reversal of the relationship between cinema and the nation’s collective conscience, director-actor Faruk Kabir who has made a film on juvenile crime Allah Ke Banday, is all set to file a PIL against the Indian government for serious lapses in the laws governing remand homes.
Says Faruk, “During my research for Allah Ke Banday, I had to visit several remand homes repeatedly. I was shocked to see how these homes, meant to be shelters for young wayward kids, were being managed. Let me tell you, these homes are not going to reform the kids. They will only encourage them to become bigger criminals.”
Knocked down by spasms of guilt, Faruk has got together with his cast members Naseeruddin Shah and Sharman Joshi to file a PIL against the administrative teams that run India’s Juvenile Remand Homes.
Says Faruk, “What I saw in these remand homes made a terrific script for my film. But I didn’t want to treat these troubled and abused kids I came across as ‘slumdogs’. I didn’t want to come away from their lives with the feeling that I’ve just exploited these wretched kids for my film and then forgotten them. I’ve to take my interest in these kids beyond my film.”
Through the PIL, Faruk intends to ask the Indian government some basic questions about the remand homes across the country.
Over to Kabir, “No counselling is being provided to the juvenile inmates which leads them to be as misguided as they were in the outside world. Many a times, they become psychologically damaged for life. Innumerable cases have been seen where although sentenced for a year only, the inmates end up spending four to five years of their lives in remand homes because there is no provision for them to even know of their rights. The Government has no program to make the delinquents self-sufficient by teaching them professions that they can use once they come out into the world and not go back into crime due to lack of options. And there’re no proper avenues for formal education for juvenile inmates when that is their right and duty of the various government agencies to provide them classrooms, teachers, books, educational programs etc.”
Faruk feels by challenging the Indian government he would be fulfilling a duty beyond cinema. Says the director, “It’s okay to be using these tortured lives to tell a gripping story. Having said that, don’t we owe these wayward kids a chance to lead a decent life? Our remand homes don’t allow them to grow. We need to change that.”
Celina becomes new face of Proactiv

When they are not busy shooting for their films, our B-town celebs are pretty occupied with their endorsement deals. The latest actress to bag yet another endorsement deal is Celina Jaitly who has been anointed as the face of Proactiv. Becoming the new face of PROACTIVE is a great honour. It gives me gr8 pleasure to join the line up of Jessica Simpson, Mandy Moore, Vanessa Williams, Katy Perry and become the face of PROACTIVE. Salman organises celebrity cricket match and fashion show for Being Human

Whatever Salman does, he does it with style, class and panache. The face of ‘Being Human’ foundation, that he has been promoting quite voraciously, he has gone a step further and brought India and Pakistan on the same platform, so beautifully and for a worthy cause. It takes a Salman to do that.
For the Being Human Foundation’s event that is being organised in Dubai, in pursuit to take the cause across the border, something rather special is in store. The event would start with a charity cricket match, Celebrity 2010, organised by Cynosure that will see two teams comprising of Bollywood celebs and Pakistani A-listers. The match would be followed by a fashion show in the evening, organised to showcase the collection of his charitable trust. Right from watches, to T shirts and paintings will be showcased. Though Sallu bhai was expected to present the entire collection, he is now showing only exclusive products and to a selected audience. Reason being, he fears that the designs of his Being Human T shirts will be copied and sold on the streets of Mumbai. It’s upsetting for the actor as he raises funds for the needy from this charitable cause. The known faces who will be walking the ramp along side the Pakistani counterparts are Arbaaz, Sohail, Sharman Joshi, Aftab Shivdasani, Riteish Deshmukh, Javed Jaffrey, Dino Morea, Sonu Sood, Riya Sen, Neetu Chandra and music composers Sajid and Wajid along with filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar. From Pakistan, the faces that would be part of the event are cricketer Shoaib Akhtar, singer Atif Aslam and actor Himayaun Saeed.
Salman would be reaching out to his fans by explaining the cause behind the foundation and how their support can help the foundation meet its goals. We, at Bollywood Hungama, wish Salman all the very best in his endeavour.

MUMBAI: 3 Idiots Breaks Ghajini Records Ghajini , Aamir Khan starrer comedy-drama “3 Idiots” has created a record by grossing over Rs.100 crore in its first four days. Reliance BIG Entertainment, distributor of the film, released about 2,000 prints across 40 countries.
Based on Chetan Bhagat’s bestseller “Five Point Someone”, the film has been produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and directed by Rajkumar Hirani.
“We are privileged to have been associated with ‘3 idiots’ and its immensely talented team led by Vinod, Aamir and Raju. The ramp-up to Rs. 100 crore in 4 days is phenomenal and we are confident that the film will continue to blaze new records in the weeks to come,” Amit Khanna, chairman, Reliance Big Entertainment, said in a statement.
Added Chopra: “Response has been overwhelming from all over the world. Aamir, Raju and I knew from the responses earlier on that people liked the film but this is something else? We have got reports from places like Australia that they have reduced ‘Avatar’ shows and increased ours.”
Released on Dec 25, its box office collection has beaten the initial earnings of another Aamir starrer “Ghajini”, considered Hindi cinema’s highest grosser till date, with 30 percent more earnings till Sunday night.
“‘3 Idiots’ is the highest grossing Hindi film ever in Australia on its opening weekend. Similarly in the US, I have been given to understand that ‘3 Idiots’ would be highest ever for a Hindi film,” said Chopra.
The paid previews of the movie also garnered over Rs.9 crore worldwide, above those of the paid preview collections of “Ghajini” that was Rs.7 crore globally.
The film, which reportedly cost Rs.80-100 crore, also stars R. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Boman Irani and Kareena Kapoor in pivotal roles.
