Fog-covered Motorway closed again
ISLAMABAD: Motorway has once again been closed for all sorts of traffic, as dense fog has prevailed over the entire landscape here on Monday night.
Commuters travelling to or from Lahore, are facing massive troubles owing to thick fog on highways including Motorway.
Motorway stretch from Sheikhupura Interchange to Ravi Toll Plaza, has been shut down thanks to zero visibility.
IG Motorway said travelers re advised to take alternative path, attributing the decision to poor visibility that shrank to 15 meters on some places.

Four-day gas blockage continues in Punjab
LAHORE: More than 2, 000 CNG pumping stations continue to remain closed for the fourth consecutive day on Tuesday across Punjab under National Energy Conservation Scheme.
According to Sui Northern Gas Company (SNGC), the gas supply will resume from Wednesday morning.
It said that industrial units of Lahore, Sahiwal and Sheikhupura regions will also start getting gas supply from Wednesday evening.
On the other hand, taxi and auto rickshaw drivers are fully exploiting the gas shortage by overcharging the travelers. TrendPK
Railway track stolen near Sheikhupura
Three bogies of Shorkot-bound train derailed near Sheikhupura, trendpk.com reported on Thursday.
However, no loss of life or injury has been reported in the incident. Railway officials said that derailment was result of track plates theft the other night.
The work to repair the track has been initiated and it would be cleared till 2pm, they added.

LAHORE: The suspension of gas across many areas has caused problems for industries and routines of people. The weekly suspension of gas to industrial units of Punjab continues, despite protests staged by industrial organizations.
Gas suspension continues by Sui Northern Gas Company (SNGC) for two days to the industrial units of Lahore, Sheikhupura and Sahiwal. There are more than 3,000 industrial units closed just in Lahore. Thousands of laborers suffer the closure of industrial units, as they cannot earn their livelihood.
Closure of CNG stations has also started today. More than 2,000 CNG stations are closed in Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sahiwal, Faisalabad, Multan and Gujranwala, increasing problems in the routine of people. Trend Pk

LAHORE: Under the National Energy Saving drive, the gas supply of many industrial zones of Punjab has been halted on Monday morning which is causing a huge lost to the millions of daily wages’ workers of the concerned industries.
According to Sui Northern Gas Company (SNGC) source, the gas supply of Lahore, Sheikhupura and Sahiwal regions’ industries will remain closed on November 29-30, and it would resume on December 1 at 6.00am.
The industrialists of the affected zones have rejected this ongoing two-day weekly gas break while saying that this weekly gas closure not only halts the industries, it also turns millions of daily wages’ workers jobless.
Under the weekly gas break schedule of SNGC, more than 2,000 CNG stations of Lahore, Multan, Gujranwala, and Faisalabad regions would remain closed on Tuesday. Trend Pk

ISLAMABAD: Gas supply in many of Punjab’s industrial regions has been halted for two days on Friday.
According to Sui Northern Gas Company (SNGC) sources, Islamabad, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Multan and Bahawalpur industrial regions’ gas supply was stopped at 6:00am today and will resume at the same time on November 28.
Under the weekly break, gas supply to Lahore, Sheikhupura and Sahiwal’s industries’ will be closed on November 29 (Monday) at 6:00am, and will resume on December 1 (Wednesday) at the same time. Trend Pk
Asif claims 100 Test wickets
NOTTINGHAM: Right-arm fast-medium pacer Mohammad Asif became the 15th Pakistani bowler to take 100 Test wickets today after claiming the wicket of Alistair Cook in his 20th Test.
Mohammad Asif, who started his career in Jan 2005 against Australia in Sydney, was born on December 20, 1982, in Sheikhupura, Punjab.
He has played for Pakistan, Asia XI, Delhi Daredevils, Khan Research Labs, Lahore Division, Leicestershire, National Bank of Pakistan, Sheikhupura Cricket Association, Sialkot Cricket Association.
Muhammad Asif believes his bowling has improved by leaps and bounds ever since he since he made his international comeback after serving a 12-month suspension for a positive dope test.
The pacer finished with 5 for 77 including a spell of 4 for 12 runs on the second day of the first Test against England at Nottingham leaving him just one wicket short of the 100 mark in Test matches.
Five killed in Punjab rains
LAHORE: The spell of sporadic rain continued in different parts of Punjab including Lahore that turned weather pleasant on Tuesday.
Five people were killed in rain-related incidents in Lahore, Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahib. Heavy showers lashed different areas of Punjab on Tuesday morning. However, water accumulation in low-lying areas disturbed routine life.
Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif visited rain-affected areas of Lahore and reviews rescue operation. Three persons including two children electrocuted in Shahidra and Taj Park areas whereas two dead in Sheikupura and Nankana Sahib.
Met office predicted more rains in next 48 hours. Rain recorded in Lahore 62 mm, Gujaranwala 86 mm, Mianwali 80 mm, Sialkot 69 mm and Chakwal 25 mm.
Power shortfall drops to 3355MW
LAHORE: The electricity shortfall, which has come down to 3355MW, has failed to reduce the ongoing load-shedding duration in Lahore and other cities.
Around nine to 14 hours of power cuts are being observed in urban are rural areas of the country.
According to Pepco spokesman, the country’s overall power generation is 10863MW while demand stands at 14218MW.
The Pepco said Bhakhi rental power plant has started operation in Sheikhupura, adding 110MW in the system.
On the other hand, consumers have complained that there is no change in power outages despite enforcement of energy conservation plan and decline in electricity shortfall.
Part of Motorway temporarily closed
LAHORE: A part of Motorway from Sheikhupura interchange to Kala Shah Kaku interchange has been closed for maintenance from 7:00 am till 5:00 pm.
According to spokesman of Motorway, traffic between Islamabad and Lahore has been disrupted due to closure from Sheikhupura interchange to Kala Shah Kaku interchange.
