Ramirez charged with hitting wife
Ramirez, 39, who is originally from the Dominican Republic and won two World Series titles with the Boston Red Sox in 2004 and 2007, was arrested on Monday after his wife, Juliana, complained to police that he hit her face with an open hand during a heated argument at their Weston, Florida, home, a police report said.
Judge John Hurley set Ramirez’ bail at $2,500 and barred him from contacting his wife. Ramirez was charged with battery and taken to a Davie, Florida, jail on Monday, the police report said.
According to the report, the former World Series Most Valuable Player acknowledged that the couple had an argument while in bed. But Ramirez told police that he only grabbed his wife by the shoulders and shook her, causing her to hit her head against the bed s headboard.
“She was afraid that the situation might escalate even further so she promptly called police,” arresting officer Jose Campos said in his written statement.

GUANGZHOU: Fired-up Pakistan annexed the Asian Games men’s hockey gold medal after 20 years with a convincing 2-0 win over Malaysia in the final on Thursday.
Veteran Sohail Abbas put Pakistan ahead with his team’s first penalty corner in the 26th minute, before striker Rehan Butt increased the margin three minutes after half-time.
It was Pakistan’s eighth Asiad hockey gold, ending a drought that stretched back to Beijing in 1990, and handed them their first major title since winning the World Cup in Sydney in 1994.
Pakistan ended the year on a high after a disappointing eight-month period in which they finished a humiliating last at the World Cup in March and took sixth place at the Commonwealth Games in October.
The Pakistanis knelled in prayer after the final whistle, before lifting their Dutch coach Michel van den Heuvel over their shoulders to
Prachi Desai chosen as brand ambassador of Goa

Prachi Desai has been very choosy as far as brand endorsements are concerned. This time however, Prachi has tied up not with a brand but Goa tourism.
The Government of Goa has signed Prachi as the brand ambassador of their ever-colorful state. Speaking exclusively to Bollywood Hungama, an elated Prachi said that, “I am definitely overjoyed at this. It’s definitely a rejoicing phase, especially, after the success of Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai. I go to Goa pretty often; this place has always proved lucky for me. Being the brand ambassador of Goa means a huge responsibility on my shoulders. The Goa officials want to deliver the plain simple message that Goa is definitely a place to be in and people would want to come here again and again.
Prachi concluded by saying, “I have just shot a TVC for them and have also been a part of the tourism conference that was recently held in Goa. As a brand ambassador, I will do whatever is expected me.”
conference realignment

I have only two words to amply describe what this whole cluster [insert expletive that begins with the letter "F"] on conference realignment in college football is doing to me physically: Linda Blair.
Just old enough to appreciate the 1973 classic film The Exorcist , I feel as if this whole saga has consumed me, sadly enough to the point where my head is on the verge of recklessly spinning independent of my body, with only my shoulders to serve as an axis and keep it from flying completely off.
Extreme, I know.
But considering my alma mater (Missouri) has unjustly earned the title of Public Enemy No. 1 in all of this, and somehow still finds itself in the lurch at this point, the natural drama and mood swings that accompany a story of this magnitude and effect are exponentially amplified.
Over the past week or so, rumors, speculation, and “John Doe” sources have dominated. All of a sudden, everyone is associated with someone in the know, and you need only make a trip to your local Carl’s Jr. to get the latest scoop, where the 18-year-old zit-faced fry guy will take time to inform you that “some dude with knowledge” of the Big Ten’s plans says the conference is now considering extending an invitation to Florida International before the SEC does

LOS ANGELES: Tens of thousands of protesters marched in a large-scale May Day rally in Los Angeles against a tough new immigration law in Arizona that has triggered a nationwide outcry.
Demonstrations were planned in more than 70 cities across the United States as Hispanic organizations mobilize to demand the repeal of the controversial Arizona legislation and wide-ranging federal immigration reform.
The biggest protest took place in Los Angeles, where city fire department officials estimated some 60,000 people were marching downtown, with celebrities such as Gloria Estefan addressing the crowd.
Organizers said they expect as many as 100,000 could turn out for the march. Around one million people marched for a similar rally in the city in 2006.
Protesters in Los Angeles were being encouraged to wave the Stars and Stripes rather than flags from their countries of origin, in an effort to emphasized their loyalty to the United States.
“I”ve been here since I was three,” said Jose Luis, a Los Angeles teenager wearing an American flag across his shoulders.

The Girl With The Short Hair

The best part is that you figure out fun ways to do your hair, it’s just easier to take of! Best part? If you can work the curling iron and get a bunch of curls, it’s completely adorable. It definitely becomes a deciding factor on how you style your outfits. What are your thoughts on girls with short hair? As for my next hair cut? I’m definitely going to go for a Shannyn Sossamon look.
